"Man on? I thought you said 'Mandon'?"
Landon Donovan, who has impressed in his two games so far for Everton, has in return been more
than impressed by how vocal footie fans are in England. After his new team's 2-0 win against Man
City, the MLS star said:
"The atmosphere completely surpassed what I thought.
I just got up at 4am to watch the Denmark versus Holland game. Everyone is a closet Dutch fan
right?
Anyway, my enjoyment was once again ruined by one John Harkes. This guy is a moron. No great
insights. Every two minutes he reminds us of the fact that he was a professional player! 'I played
against him in an MLS All Star game once, and against Roberto Carlos' blah blah blah.
Robin Van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen, Cesc Fabregas and Carlos Vela watch the match
between my hometown LA Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves during their NBA Europe Live
basketball match at the O2 Arena, in London. Kobe and the guys actually got a chance to go out and
see the match between Arsenal and Chelsea the day before and were really impressed by the
atmosphere.
For the first time since joining Everton FC at the beginning of the month, U.S. international
Landon Donovan has floated the possibility of staying with the Premier League side past the date
that his loan deal allows. Under the current arrangement agreed to by Major League Soccer, Donovan
would return to the United States in mid-March so that he can be available for the Los Angeles
Galaxy's first game on March 27th, but after two successful outings with his new club, the reigning
MLS MVP is now admitting that he could look to extend his stay at Goodison Park through the
remainder of the English league's season if all goes well.
Arsenal striker Carlos Vela did not get a warm welcome by his former supporters as the Mexican
national side suffered a 2:1 defeat in a friendly against Ecuador last night at Estadio Omnilife in
Guadalajara.
After his poor performance and his statements about Chivas, that the clubs means nothing for his
career, Mexican striker Carlos Vela was the boo man for the fans at the stadium Omnilife.
U.S. international Stuart Holden has spoken out for the first time since leaving the Houston Dynamo
to play for Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League. The 24-year-old midfielder shared his
thoughts in a posting on his personal website on Tuesday morning, expressing excitement over the
opportunity to play in England and gratitude to the fans of the Dynamo who have supported him for
the past four years.

CHICAGO (Feb. 25, 2010) — U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named a 20
player roster to face the Netherlands at Amsterdam ArenA on March 3 in the team's final
international fixture date before the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Kickoff for the match is set for 1:30
p.m. CT with live coverage on ESPN2 and Galavision.
It's been a busy day behind the scenes here in MNT Camp. Carlos, Landon, Jozy, Tim and Gooch have
returned from ESPN after a jampacked morning in Bristol. If you tuned in to SportsCenter, First
Take, Mike and Mike you may have seen some of what was going on. And there's still more to come
(watch SportsNation on ESPN2 at 4 p.
If you've been to a Union match, whether at PPL Park or the Linc, you've heard it.
If you've watched a home game on TV, I'm told you can hear it, too.
A post criticizing it on EPL Talk following the friendly with Manchester United resulted in, at
the time of this writing, some 326 comments.
Sorry for the delay for this one. AEKMAN74 posted a good summary of the game which you can check
out as well.
Well, my Father and I decided that since I only have half a year left in Greece before I,
unfortunately, have to return to North America for university (don't get me wrong, I love North
America, I just don't know how long I'll be able to stay away from AEK) we'd go up to Thessaloniki
and watch this one so I could experience a proper away game.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia Union CEO
Nick Sakiewicz, history does not portend
wide-ranging success for his club in 2010. Expansion teams that did well on the field usually
sacrificed atmosphere in the stands. Others had terrific support, but no results on the field. Some
a little bit of both.
Britain's standard-bearer ultras group, Aberdeen's Red Ultras, disbanded earlier this month.
Their website simply states:
We are sad to announce that as of Tuesday 5th January 2010 the Aberdeen Red Ultras have ceased
to exist.
The Red Ultras were set up in 1999 by a group of supporters who wished to bring colour and
atmosphere to games involving our beloved Aberdeen Football Club.
Stockport County left back Michael Rose said that the only reason he is still playing for county is
because Jim Gannon left. In an interview Rose said : "I was on the verge of signing for
Hartlepool, I went up there and agreed terms. He then added " I never wanted to leave Stockport, it
was just going to be a new challenge for me, if Jim Gannon was staying here really i didn't want to
be here, but obviously with him leaving I managed to speak to Jim Melrose and he told me the way
the club was heading and told me he wanted me to stay " .
At the beginning of the month there was talk that the club would stop playing the deafening
music as the players walked out of the tunnel, in a bid to get the atmosphere going. The club gave
in to this request and the ground was almost silent as the players walked out, with the exception
of the Burnley fans' singing, who are one of the few clubs to take up their full allocation.
Sorry that the big post is running late but I got back from my soccer safari in London on Wednesday
afternoon and have been catching up with work since then. The trip was a pretty remarkable
journey to three clubs - Arsenal, Fulham, and Crystal Palace - that each provide their own unique
experience for the fans who attend their matches.
After arriving in Philadelphia today and getting settled at the hotel, futbol met football as the
team trained during the afternoon at the Philadelphia Eagles practice facility. After training, a
football came out (the kind made out of pigskin) and some of the U.S. players tossed it around a
bit. Turns out, DaMarcus Beasley has a gun on him.
World Cup 2010 organizing committee spokesman Rich Mkhonda today completely
ruled out a ban of the noisy Vuvuzela, stating that the rest of the world should "accept and
embrace the culture of the country." If you are not sure what a Vuvuzela is, it is a plastic horn
used to make the annoying buzzing sound you hear when you are watching any of this summers World
Cup games.
A tremendous showing by the U.S. fans tonight at Ellis Park. They created an amazing atmosphere for
the players -- and each other -- and the place almost came down when Michael Bradley tied the game
in the 82nd minute. Here's a few pics we took of the fans outside the stadium before the game.
Trust us, this is only a small sampling of the many red, white and blue clad fans -- from the USA
and abroad -- who came out to support our boys.
Well folks, as you may have already noticed (or you know, didn't), The Offside -
Houston has been a little slow as of late. Hopefully, this little post will be the spark for
more posts to come in the next few months. I mean, we've got until March 19 of next year to discuss
which cheerleader is the hottest, which seats in the Robertson suck the most, or what changes need
to be made to the Orange Powerhouse in terms of staff, players, etc.
I didn't get to see most of the Italy-Cameroon game live yesterday. I was on my way to New York
City instead (I'm a New Jersey native, home from college on spring break). PUMA was having their
official unveiling of the Azzurri's new World cup jerseys, and when Daryl passed along the invite,
I couldn't resist.
With Arsenal's official website asking everyone to be at the Emirates early and wear red and white
to create a fantastic atmosphere at the stadium, expectations for the game are incredibly high for
what could ...
FC Barcelona knocked out by Inter despite the victory. Aggregate Barca - 2, Inter - 3
FC Barcelona's dream came of defending their Champions League crown at the home of their rivals
came to an end after being knocked out byt Italian Champion Inter Milan. Inter Milan, who were
reduced to 10 men for almost an hour following the dismissal of Motta, held firm in defense.
While I am sure you will agree, the World Cup has been disappointing so far. However, that is
understandable if you think about it. In the opening games teams are concentrating on their
defensive discipline with the goal of not losing their opening game.
Individual star players have not caught on fire yet because they are playing cautiously as part
of the above strategy.
"Sweet Caroline" being sung around Fenway Park at halftime during the Football at Fenway match
between Sporting Clube de Portugal and Celtic FC.
It's was a great atmosphere here at the legendary baseball stadium, hosting football for the
first time in over 40 years. "Sweet Caroline" is sung during the 7th inning stretch in all home
games for the Red Sox at Fenway Park, so I guess you could say that halftime is appropriate for it
as well.

April 2000: Leeds United fans respond to Galatasaray's infamous 'Welcome To Hell' banner. As
seen during the Uefa Cup semi-final second leg at Elland Road.
The semi final was, of course, overshadowed by the death of two Leeds fans, Christopher Loftus
and Kevin Speight, who were stabbed to death in Turkey before the first leg.
Recently Virginia Online Soccer News was given the opportunity to speak with former
U.S.
national team forward JoeMax Moore.
JoeMax Moore was a member of three world cup teams and two Olympic squads. While a member of the
USMNT he compiled 100 caps (10th) and 24 goals (4th behind only Donovan, Wynalda, and McBride).
Join us at The James Joyce - the meeting place for the DC/Baltimore Toffees - for the big match
this weekend. Landon Donovan may well make his first appearance for the Toffees. Great atmosphere
and service at The James Joyce. Come one, come all! 10 AM KO COYB!For address and directions,

Plenty of positive vibes in the aftermath of yesterday's victory:
Firstly Shaun Wright-Phillips:
"Carlos Tevez was fantastic again for us, he has been unbelieveable all season. His energy is
superb but everyone played their part in what was a memorable win and that's a few we have had over
United in recent seasons.
Following up on my earlier best-of list for club matches of the 2000s, here is my list (in
chronological order) of what I felt were the best national team matches of the 2000s involving
CONCACAF sides. Honduras vs. Peru, 2000 Gold Cup Quarterfinal. This Gold Cup marked the return of
Honduras to regional prominence, and this match was a cracker, full of rapid-fire scoring,
thrilling end-to-end action, and a fiery atmosphere on the field and in the stands.
Well it looks like Carlos Alberto Parreira is making headway with Bafana Bafana. They managed to
score three goals at Moses Mabhida Stadium against Zimbabwe last night.
Bafana Bafana Magic
Although the game was no walkover for the South African National team, there were certainly
moments of sheer Bafana magic.
Deltras v Persis 2-0 (Satia,)
Right slosh fest this one. First goal saw two Deltras forwards with the freedom of the penalty
area. The second was a 45 yard fluke. Big crowd, big rain, big atmosphere...
Given the goals conceded it may sound odd but certainly in the second half Persis defended pretty
well but there is a reason why Deltras are top of the table.
9 minutes was enough for Hector Baldassi to postpone the match. The ball was not flowing naturally,
players were making mistakes and Boca almost gave up a goal when Luiz Alberto failed to clear a
ball stuck in the water. This was enough for Hector Baldassi to say enough, and postpone the match.
And what a decision he made, to postpone the biggest and most important match of the week without
hesitating.
Massive game. Win this and we all get a day trip to Wembley, with hopefully another one to
follow. To be honest I'd rather the semi was played at the Emirates, if only to prove that it isn't
impossible to generate an atmosphere in that stadium, but you should never sniff at the opportunity
to watch your team play at the national stadium.
When I was a lad I went down to Maine Road a couple of times with a few lads to watch the
football. If one of my blue mates had a ticket going spare and I had nothing better to do, then I'd
go along. I only saw a handful of games but it was interesting enough going to someone else's
ground.
I don't know how it works for other people, but I was always far more interested in Manchester
United than I was in football in general.
The always controversial Jose Mourinho has sensationally declared that he will one day manage
Spanish giants Real Madrid. The self proclaimed "Special One" is currently enjoying a successful
spell at Serie A champions Inter Milan, and on the verge of a historic treble he has insisted that
his future will land him at Santiago Bernabeu.

We were lucky enough to take in a wonderful Women's Premier Soccer (WPS) match at the historic
Harvard University stadium Friday night between the Boston Breakers and FC Gold Pride. Now this was
personally our first WPS match we've attended, but there was quite a bit of hype surrounding it
because it was billed as a match between "The Two Best Players in the World.
2010 Champions League Final
Madrid, Spain
Here we go again, a great match of great importance. The Champions League Final between
Internazionale Milano and Bayern Munich will be determining the best club team in Europe. Each side
has earned its spot and will look to prove their class. One side will be defeated but both have the
chance to claim a treble.
Drogba Out - Big Blow to Africa
The 2010 World Cup created quite a lot of excitement, mainly due to the fact it was the first
World Cup to be hosted in the continent of Africa, and the most suitable venue was South Africa,
due to it having a rather strong economy. There are always hiccups in the process, and the odd
scare thrown out by the media in order to sell a few papers, but in terms of building the stadiums,
promoting the tournament and creating an exciting atmosphere, South Africa has done itself proud
and with one week to go, we are ready for the World Cup.
