The Ajax striker Luis Suarez has become one of Chelsea's key targets in January when the
club are preparing a spending spree that will see them through a potential transfer ban in the
summer as punishment for the Gaël Kakuta affair.
In form Bellamy will stay at Manchester City
As we mentioned a few weeks ago, last
January in the Premier League we were treated to a handful of
major transfers. I mean, some
massive, massive moves: Arshavin, Heskey, Given, Beattie, Defoe, Bellamy, etc. all moved
clubs...
So, who will make the move in 2010?

Phillipe Senderos is hoping to bring an end to his troubles at Arsenal by securing a
move elsewhere.
Today's post is an entirely selfish exercise. Admittedly, I just haven't been into the Champions
League this year, and I'm blaming it on ESPN. Not that I miss Derek Rae or Tommy Onion Bags, but
Fox Soccer just ain't doing it for me. Talk about a lifeless broadcast; there's no urgency to the
games and the best matches are never shown live.
Group A
1. Bordeaux, 2. Bayern Munich, 3. Juventus, 4. Maccabi Haifa
The French side skated to a group win with a workmanlike 1-0 win over the Israelis, who set a
dubious UCL record with six shutout losses. Bayern got a PK goal from its goalie (Jorg Butt) and
dominated the Italians 4-1 to grab the final berth into the knockout stage.
Liverpool are trying to thrash out a deal with Real Madrid to land Ruud van Nistelrooy on a
six-month loan next week.
Rafael Benitez's side, who beat Aston Villa in a snowstorm at Villa Park on Tuesday night, are keen
to bring in an experienced striker after seeing their season crumble during Fernando Torres's
frequent stints in the treatment room.

Must be nice being a director of sport or the like. Christmas doesn't start and stop on December
25th it just goes on and on until we hit the month of February. It's like Hanukkah on steroids, but
without the menorah or latkes. Though much like Christmas, it's filled with ridiculous stories, far
too [.
Fernando Torres has dashed Manchester City's hopes of luring him away from Anfield by admitting he
already feels like a dyed-in-the-wool Scouser.
Liverpool's £21million record signing figures prominently on City's wanted list, with speculation
mounting that a £50million bid could be imminent.
Name: Andoni Goikoetxea, nicknamed The Butcher of Bilbao
Club career: Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid
Position: Centre-back
Why so hard? The Butcher of Bilbao earned his nickname for an infamous scything
tackle from behind on Diego Maradona, who was playing for Barcelona at the time.
Real Madrid host Almeria while Pep Guardiola's Barcelona face a tough game away to fifth-placed
Deportivo la Coruna.
Third-placed Sevilla are at home to Real Valladolid on Saturday while fourth-placed Valencia
will need to be at their best to take all three points from Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on
Sunday.
Group B contains Argentina, Nigeria, Greece and South Korea, in what could be a mini group of
death. Argentina were poor in qualifying, and Greece and South Korea are always hard to break down.
At the moment I see Argentina and Nigeria moving onto the knockout rounds.
A look at the teams in Group B
ARGENTINA
Manager: Diego Maradona
Key player: Lionel Messi
Best: Winners (1978, 1986)
World ranking: 8
Argentina endured a torrid qualifying campaign under manager Diego Maradona, who seemed to grow
increasingly eccentric as the pressure on him grew.
The UEFA Champions League is down to the last day of group stage matches as several spots in the
knockout stage are still up for grabs. On Tuesday, December 8, 2009 groups A, B, C, and D are all
in action. Some of the matches include Juventus v Bayern Munich and Marseille v Real Madrid. Here's
a list of previews, predictions, and USA/UK television listings for the UEFA Champions League group
stage matches on Tuesday, December 8, 2009.
The UEFA Champions League has its last set of group stage matches including Atletico Madrid v FC
Porto on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Kickoff is scheduled for 19:45 GMT and will be covered live on
our other site, Free Live Sports TV, at the link below.
Atletico Madrid v FC Porto
Anelka has been Chelsea's Champions League hero.
I'm not going to lie; this might be the least interesting group for the last round of matches.
Porto and Chelsea have already booked their respective spots while the Europa Cup spot is still up
for grabs.
Atletico Madrid vs FC Porto
Madrid will be looking to beat Porto and secure third spot in the group and qualification to the
Europa Cup.
Juventus figured to have some momentum heading into its do-or-die Champions League clash with
Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Having just beaten Inter Milan, Juve needed only a draw at home against
Bayern to reach the Round of 16, but instead of a draw, the Italian club was handed a 4-1 beating
and a place in the Europa League.
Of all the enticing soccer matches on tap today, maybe none is as exciting or intriguing as
Liverpool vs. Arsenal.
Between Rafa Benitez's career deathwatch and Wenger's own recent dust-ups, the two long-term
managers have had their troubles with a season that hasn't quite gone according to plan for
either.
It's another full week of fixtures in the top European leagues such as the Spanish Primera
Division aka La Liga, French Ligue 1, and Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, and the Scottish
Premier League. FC Barcelona is in UAE playing in the FIFA 2009 Club World Cup but Real Madrid
hosts Real Zaragoza in La Liga.
Fernando Torres is a £60million target for Chelsea.
There is a growing belief among Europe's richest and most powerful clubs that a season of Liverpool
failure will force Torres - and his advisers - to review the player's career.
Torres has publicly insisted he is committed to the Anfield cause and does not want to create any
issues that could destabilise Rafa Benitez's managerial authority.

FC Barcelona was handed a tough draw against Sevilla on Tuesday for the defense of their Copa
del Rey title. The first match will be played at home on January 6 with the return leg at Sevilla
on the 13th.
If Barcelona were to advance their path doesn't get any easier with a possible matchup with
against Valencia in the quarterfinals.

Chelsea have reportedly had a bid of £53m for Sergio Aguero turned down by Atletico
Madrid.
Some huge games this week from Italy, England and the Champions League, as well as the final
game of the season from Brazil where any one of four sides can still win the title. This week's
guest is Fran from Spain, who is an Atletico Madrid fan.

Roberto Soldado
Well he and his team are not the most consistent squad in the bunch, but when Roberto Soldado is
on his game the whole world should take note. Soldado has proven the expression, "when it rains
it pours" to be true with his two hat trick performances this season.
So a sad day has come, and according to reliable sources in Argentina, Gianinna and Kun
Aguero have officially parted ways. Kun has already packed his bags and left the family
home following allegations that he cheated on his wife with a dancer. So it isn't just
Tiger Woods who should be avoiding the feminism society these days!
I'll keep this one quick and concise. So it's not really deep, then? I guess. Whatever.
To Roman & Co.: Either make an offer Atletico Madrid can't refuse or move on. I want the rumors
dead. Like totally dead. Fer serious.
I can't be the only one absolutely sick of reading about this "saga.
The Arsenal and Switzerland defender Phillipe Senderos has had enough of being ignored by Arsene
Wenger since his return from his loan period at Milan, and is desperate to win back his place in
his national team before next summer's World Cup Finals, so he knows that he will have to leave the
Emirates to [.
Hurricane Clásico passed through the shores of Spain with a FC Barcelona win, and now normalcy
can somewhat return to La Liga. The two most important matches in terms of the championship race
are 5th place Deportivo La Coruña vs. league leaders FC Barcelona and 8th place Athletic Bilbao

Just when you thought Manchester United's defensive injury woes could not get any worse, in
comes news that Nemanja Vidic is set to miss the club's Champions League match against VfL
Wolfsburg.
Having missed Saturday's 4-0 thrashing of West Ham United with the flu, Vidic has failed to
recuperate, and has been ruled out of Tuesday's match.

Champions League View: Liverpool are dumped to the Europa League, and one of Bayern
Munich and Juventus will join them tonight.
It's official the big sides aren't having it all their way this season in Europe already we've
seen Arsenal struggle at home, Liverpool struggle home and away, United drop points, Barcelona lose
at home, Inter making a mockery out of their status as Serie A champions and German giants Bayern
Munich with one foot already in the Europa League.
Ultima chiamata.
bianconeri di Ciro Ferrara avranno il compito di trovare almeno un pareggio nella partita casalinga
contro il Bayern Monaco che ha, invece, bisogno del successo per poter brindare alla
qualificazione.

miss out on a Europa League berth.
