This week should prove to be another great derby week, with inter-city rivalry matches taking place
in Milan, Liverpool and Barcelona, among others. The only match between two current WCR Top 25
Clubs takes place on Sunday afternoon, where AC Milan and Inter Milan will battle for dominance of
the city.
While it's clear that Manchester United has not played like the best club in the world recently,
it's equally clear that none of the other top clubs in the world seem to want to take the top spot
over. As a case in point, let's look at last week's top six. While United fell to Zenit St.
Petersburg in the UEFA Super Cup, four of the five clubs directly behind it in the rankings (Inter
Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Roma) all managed no more than a draw or, in Real's case, a loss.
After this week, the WCR Top 25 will go through its most radical change of the
season. The reason for this is that until each club in a given domestic league has played
five matches, the prior season's results are factored in to preserve some sense of continuity and
to give the new season time to mature.
