Our friend Bob Rusert, regular Wizards contributor at MLSnet.com and kcwizards.com posted a nice
story after Saturday's match about the debut of midfielder/forward/defender Nelson Pizarro. I list
all those positions because, well, I've seen him play in all of them. Pizarro has three goals and
two assists this year for the reserve team, scored one goal against Atlas AC and helped create the
winner with a long run and low, hard shot that the goalkeeper couldn't save.
Hey all, we posted last week but just wanted to give a reminder that our reserve squad plays
against the New York Red Bulls tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at our Swope Park Training Center. The
first-team will be practicing simultaneously on the adjacent field, so tomorrow is a good day to
get out and see everyone in action.
Another win. And two goals scored? How about that. This was the first league match that KC
scored two goals in since April 5. That is not good. Plain and simple. The fact the Jimmy Conrad
now leads the Wizards in goals? Also not encouraging. But the three points tonight means that KC is
now equal on points with New York for sixth place.
It's been a busy week for the Wizards, so this weekend provided a bit of a respite before this
week's game against Columbus. The friendly against Atlas AC was a 2-1 to the Wizards, although
because of the nature of the game the result wasn't important - it was a chance for a partner club
to get a preseason run out, plus a match for reserves to play in.
