Luis Acosta/AFP/Getty Images Atlante are the new champions of North America, the first winners of
the CONCACAF Champions League, and the recipients of an oversized fern and a trip to the UAE. The
Mexican clubs dominated this tournament, as all four entrants progressed to the knockout stage and
were only knocked out by each other.

Perhaps I should have seen Atlante's result coming last night. Cruz Azul were without two of their
primary midfielders in Gerardo Torrado and Cristián Riveros, which would have reduced the team's
ability to dominate the midfield. Even so, I was surprised by two things: Cruz Azul's lack of
urgency for a majority of the game, and Atlante's decision to take the game to La Máquina.

I think my favorite part of EN's piece is this (though I encourage you to link over there and read
it all) is this:

What to say about that match? Obviously, not the team's best performance. Tommy Soehn had some
strong words in his post-game press conference, which I'll post shortly. The team is all but
eliminated, depending on tonight's result in Houston. You can read Charlie Boehms dcunited.com

The big addition to today's 18-man roster is the inclusion of Santino Quaranta to the
substitute's bench. Tino hasn't played since the team's 4-1 win over the Galaxy on June 29, when he
left the game after just 27 minutes with a hamstring strain.
Here's tonight's starting lineup:
Zach Wells; Bryan Namoff, Devon McTavish, Marc Burch, Gonzalo Martinez; Craig Thompson, Clyde
Simms, Jaime Moreno, Fred; Luciano Emilio, Francis Doe.

This one deserves a post of it's own - there is a strong possibility that Lance Parker (Missouri
State 2008) may play for Chivas USA this evening in the Superliga game against Pachuca CF. Game
time is 7:00 pm on the coast, or 9:00 pm locally.
Anyone aware of a Mexican restaurant in the area that 1) might be open that late and 2) has the
Telefutura channel (available on Dish) that is broadcasting the game?
