Olympiacos F.C. (Greek: .Α.Ε. Ολυμπιακός), also known as simply Olympiacos,
Olympiacos Piraeus or with its full name Olympiacos C.F.P. (Greek: Oλυμπιακός
Σύνδεσμος Φιλάθλων ειραιώς), is a Greek football club that is part of
Olympiacos CFP, based in Piraeus, Athens.
That's right, your eyes are not deceiving you.Our beloved set a new unwanted record on Saturday
night.Heaviest defeat at home by a team from outside Athens or Thessaloniki. And this coming days
after our massive 'away' victory against pao only 3 days earlier.
So what went so wrong????Honestly,i'm not sure.
By the time you've read this AEK will have signed 29 year old,Nabil Baha,a Morrocan who has been
plying his trade with Malaga in Spain's top league.Baha is a striker, who will be coming to Athens
on loan till the summer, where we"ll then have an option to buy him outright. In 107 appearances for
Malaga he has scored 43 goals.
I get many sorts of press releases to my email box. Some are very interesting. This was one of
those. In a press conference in Athens today, Greek national team coach Fernando Santos named a
20-man squad for a UEFA EURO 2012 qualification match against Malta on June 4, 2011 at Georgios
Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus and a friendly match against Ecuador on June 7, 2011 at Citi Field
in New York,
So, I know its a bit late, but I figured I'd get a short review of the season up (even though
its a season, one of many, that I would ultimately like to forget about)..
I guess it would be most appropriate to start from the beginning though in all honesty, I can
barely remember much from the first half of the season!
We got ourselves a new striker. Eidur Gudjohnsen from Iceland will join us the next two seasons.
Gudjohnsen is coming over from Stoke City. The captain from the Iceland national team played for a
lot of clubs, including Barcelona, Chelsea, AS Monaco and PSV Eindhoven.
The transfer to Athens came throught this sunday afternoon after some trouble, because West Ham
United was also interested in Gudjohnsen.

Firelighter sales rocket in Wolverhampton Angry fans of Greek side Larissa blockaded the club's
players on the team coach as they returned from a 3-0 away defeat. More than 500 fans were on hand
to join the riot when the team returned to Athens after their loss at Atromitos. Windows in the
coach were smashed [.
It ain't over 'til it's over, but as of now, European competition for a twelfth-straight season
looks unlikely. Last missing out in 1999-2000, Liverpool have racked up a fair amount of frequent
flier miles since the turn of the 21st century.

So, just a little over a week after we won our first Cup in so many years (despite the rather
depressing events which followed after the match), us AEK fans were treated to yet another pleasing
weekend. This time, however, the attention was not only on our football team, but also our Handball
guys, a group of players who have fought hard and gave everything they had to offer to the club for
the past three years.
Zenit 2-4 Bayern Munich ( Alexander Bukharov, Huszti- Zenit/ Miroslav Klose*2, Thomas Muller, Arjen

Zenit St.Petersburg 4-2 in Russia. Great result for Bayern, who initially trailed 1-0 to Zenit
after Bukharov had opened the scoring for the St.

Odense BK were celebrated around Europe in the 1994/95 UEFA Cup for what came to be known as the
'Miracle in Madrid' as they overturned a 3-2 third round home defeat with a 2-0 win against Real
Madrid CF at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Danish reporters are calling Odense BK's 4-3 win at Panathinaikos FC the 'Miracle in Athens because
their stunning come from behind victory brings them one step away from the group stages of the
Champions League.
A hot sunny Athens morning, greek yoghurt, fresh fruit, and some Greek honey. Lovely.
Olympiacos (we use a K, they use the C) come to town as Greek Champions , further than that I
have little to tell you about them. They have over 80,000 members, the 9th highest in European
football. They have a superb stadium, noisy, fanatical fans and a good home record.
English referee Howard Webb was caught in the middle of ugly scenes as Greek hooligans attacked
Croatia fans during their crucial Group F qualifier in Athens on Friday night. Webb was forced to
suspend play for a full six minutes as officials, security and stadium guards struggled to contain
a rambustious Greek crowd.

Other than the games played in preseason, this certainly shapes up to be the least important outing
of the season. We're heading to Greece to take on Olympiakos in the final match of the group stages
of the Champions League. But fortunately for us, we already have first place wrapped up, so there's
no need to wear out our main players in this one.
By 1970's Gooner I must say that I raised more than one eyebrow when the team sheet was announced
in Athens last Tuesday. What on earth did possess Wenger to name Vermaelen AND Santos in the
starting eleven when the game was absolutely irrelevant to where Arsenal would finish in the
group?. Santos was the only available left back we had at the club!
