Sorry for the delay for this one. AEKMAN74 posted a good summary of the game which you can check
out as well.
Well, my Father and I decided that since I only have half a year left in Greece before I,
unfortunately, have to return to North America for university (don't get me wrong, I love North
America, I just don't know how long I'll be able to stay away from AEK) we'd go up to Thessaloniki
and watch this one so I could experience a proper away game.
Olympiacos F.C. (Greek: .Α.Ε. Ολυμπιακός), also known as simply Olympiacos,
Olympiacos Piraeus or with its full name Olympiacos C.F.P. (Greek: Oλυμπιακός
Σύνδεσμος Φιλάθλων ειραιώς), is a Greek football club that is part of
Olympiacos CFP, based in Piraeus, Athens.
Yes, the N5er is alive and happy. Arsenal beat those gits at Hull City last night with a
sensational last minute goal from everyones favorite egomaniac, Nicky Bendtner! So I am happy. I
have been traveling around Greece for the last few weeks after finishing up my work in the lovely
country of Cyprus.
Due to yesterday's death in Athens as a result of large protests and riots, today's games
between AEK-Aris and PAOK-Olympiakos have been called off and will be scheduled for another date. I
haven't heard news yet about when that date will be.
More details here.
Eddie Johnson, Aris Thessaloniki (Greece)Away to AEK Athens, 2-4, 90 minutes, 1 GoalEddie Johnson started and played the full 90, netting a goal for Aris, but Freddy Adu was left on
the bench as they fell 2-4 in a heated match in which both sides ended with nine men on the pitch.
Krisztian Nemeth's agent has revealed that the Liverpool striker is attracting interest from a
number of clubs other than Olympiakos.
Reports in Greece have suggested that Nemeth is poised to join Olympiakos after the two clubs
agreed a deal for him to move.
The Hungarian's representative Viktor Kovesdi admits that negotiations have taken place over a
switch but insists nothing has been decided yet.
Jozy Altidore and Villarreal will look to take care of business at home against Greek team PAOK
while Sacha Kljestan will hope to see some time on the field for Anderlecht when they host AEK
Athens.
I'm downloading the match right now and will watch it when its completed. In the meantime Ill
add what I've heard being mentioned so far.
First of all, huge win! We needed a positive result to pick ourselves up after stumbling with
Anderlecht, and we did it. As AEKMAN74 stated, Manolo made a few unexpected choices, but it sounds
as thought they've paid off.

Bad taste bear: Charlie Itandje
"Liverpool FC has released Charles Itandje from his contract and the goalkeeper has signed a two
and half year contract with Greek Super League club Atromitos.
"He will officially join the Athens-based club on January 1, 2011.
The Gods of War roll into Athens on Sunday evening looking for their third consecutive win and a
chance to reclaim the fourth spot in the standings.
The visiting Black and Gold brigade took the early lead in Athens thanks to Eddie Johnson's second
tally of the season, but conceded minutes before the curtain fell.
Daniel Agger Sends Us to Athens! SEASON SUMMARY The 2006-2007 season was about the Champions League
and yet another 3rd place finish... yet it was clear that something was missing in this squad.
Never has 3rd place looked so much like 10th. Away from Anfield Liverpool were absolutely dreadful,
not scoring a goal or picking up a [.
Rafael Benítez must decide upon the future of young Liverpool striker Krisztian Nemeth or risk
losing him this summer, according to the player's agent.
Tibor Pataky told Goal.com UK that 21-year-old Nemeth - who is currently on loan at Greek side AEK
Athens - would be happy to return to Anfield at the end of the season, but hinted at interest from
across Europe.

the Super League champions.

I did this in 2006 for Portland, so here's another round for Athens. That's Georgia, not
Greece.
Portland is a football-mad city--more than 10,000 people turned up for the Italy v. France 2006
final shown on a giant screen downtown in Pioneer Square. I confess that 2/3 of us have been more
than a little worried that we'd spend the month watching every single match alone in our living
room.
Hunkered in our living room(s) or drinking at inappropriate times in our local pub(s)... apm
will be watching and blogging about every World Cup game.
We'll also be Tweeting! And if you want to follow us there while we vent our spleen or wax
poetically about some player or team who defies the script of the tournament.
We've had some great feedback in comments and email on other places in town to watch the World Cup
and are happy to report there are more of us soccerheads than we thought out there in Athens.
Here's what we've learned so far. Original post on where to watch the World Cup in Athens, Georgia
is here.
I didn't know what to expect from my new home Athens, Georgia during World Cup. American tackleball
is huge here... a religion... and something taken very seriously. So I figured only a few places
would be showing matches. Much to my surprise there are quite a few pubs, restaurants, and cafes
doing so.
It's official: the reign of Otto Rehhagel as Greece manager, which lasted nearly nine years, has
ended. The EPO have confirmed they're searching for a new successor, heavily tipped to be former
AEK Athens and PAOK coach Fernando Santos, who represents something of a risk given it'll be his

Liverpool forward Krisztian Nemeth is being linked with a £1 million move to Italian side Lecce,
the price covering a 50% ownership of the player's rights, according to the Mail Online.
The 21-year-old signed for Liverpool from MTK during the summer of 2007 for an undisclosed fee,
thought to be a basic compensation package, but failed to break into the senior squad during Rafael
Benitez's time at the club.
Kafes, who has played before for the Greek National team, will return once again while Savvas
Gentzoglou will get his first call up. It is likely that both will feature in Greece's upcoming
friendly match in preparation for Euro 2012. I truly believe both of these players have something
to add to the team and will both bring some much needed security and stability to our midfield.
First, the story at the front of everyone's minds, the senseless attack on Bajevic.
NBC sports picked up the story from the Reuters service and has it posted here.
Blic, an online English-language Serbian newspaper has the story here.
And, of course, the Scottish Press has picked up on the story since Dundee's fans have to travel
to Athens to support their club in our Europa League match this month.
Ipswich are reportedly set for a loan move for Celtic and Ireland defender Darren
O'Dea.
The Dublin born international is not set to be a first choice in manager Neil Lennon's defence this
season, and he is looking to gain first-team football.
The 23-year-old has already played at Championship level after a spell at Reading last season, and
is due in Suffolk on Monday to agree terms over a spell under form Hoops man Roy Keane at Portman
Road.
Sources here in the Netherlands say that AEK is interested in buying Dutch defender Kew Jaliens
from AZ Alkmaar, former Dutch champion. With Majstorovic gone that would make a lot of sense,
because Jaliens is an experienced defender who usually plays on the right back position, but can
also play as central defender.
Due to the dangerous playing surface, the 2nd leg of the Europa League clash between AEK and
Dundee Utd will be moved from the Olympic Stadium to another as yet unnaounced ground in
Athens.
AEK and UEFA officials have inspected the ground this afternoo and the decision was made to change
venue.
The BBC and other British media outlets are reporting the good news! AEK beat a UEFA deadline
and secured a new stadium for this week's second-leg Europa League clash with Dundee United! We
are all set to play them at Nea Smyrni. According to the BBC:
AEK Athens have beaten a Uefa deadline to find an alternative venue for their meeting
with Dundee United and it will now be played at Nea Smyrni Stadium.
Possessive Greeks Fans of Greek side Panionios were so infuriated when they heard rivals AEK Athens
were going to play a Europa League clash with Dundee United at their stadium they vandalised their
own ground to stop the match going ahead. AEK's pitch has been recently relaid and was not playable
in time for tonight's match.
Why? Because they hated the idea of rivals AEK Athens playing as the home team at their
stadium so much, that they trashed their own stadium...
AEK failed to bring their Olympic Stadium to up to UEFA Europa League standards and so had to
find a local alternative.

The solution to the sudden international retirement of goal machine Theofanis Gekas, who's
currently in red-hot form for Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt?
None other than 35 year-old AEK Athens striker Nikos Lyberopoulos, who recently enjoyed a
successful spell with the same club before returning to his spiritual home this season.
Our new manager, who we hope will be the saviour of our AEK,has touched down in Athens. He was
greeted at the airport by about 150 jubilant supporters who kept on singing his name, and other
songs,regarding our enemies.
He stopped briefly to give an interview to the waiting press, who could barely breath as they were
surrounded by AEK fans.
The Europa League is back in action today, with several quality match-ups on the schedule and
two Americans in action.
Sacha Kljestan earned the start for Anderlecht in its clash against Greek side AEK Athens. Jozy
Altidore isn't in the starting lineup for Villarreal's match against Greek side PAOK, but he is
likely to see time as a reserve.
Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht beat AEK Athens 3-0 in the Europa League's Group G on Thursday.
Kljestan was in the starting lineup and Anderlecht was a goal up after 37 minutes through Mbark
Boussoufa. Romelu Lukaku made it 2-0 in the 71st, with Roland Juhasz finishing off the scoring five
mines later.

If FC Barcelona had won yesterday's Champions League match against FC København at the Parken,
they would have qualified themselves automatically for the next round. The Danes had another idea
in mind however, and the Catalans walked away with a draw, making a win in Athens against
Panathinaikos imperative.
Jozy Altidore will likely see minutes for Villarreal when they try to maintain their Group D lead
over hosts PAOK while Sacha Kljestan could also figure in as Anderlecht try to take hold on second
place in Athens.
Jozy Altidore and Sacha Kljestan both got the start for their respective teams in Europa League
group action, as Villarreal slipped to third with a loss while Anderlecht remained second with a
draw in Athens.
