Stefano Mauri, Lazio captain is in the dock for accepting money to fix results
In case you have not been following it, we have the makings of an enormous match fixing scandal
enveloping Italian football which might make the original Calciopoli look like a storm in a
teacup.
14 players have been arrested which include Lazio captain Stefano Mauri and former Genoa
midfielder Omar Milanetto, now with Padua.
This has been a fantastic season in Serie A where Juventus ended the season unbeaten winning their
twenty eighth Scudetto. AC Milan and Udinese will be playing in the Champions League next season
while Napoli, Lazio and Inter will be in the Europa. Novara, Cesena and Lecce were sadly relegated
from Serie A to Serie B.
Juventus 2011-12 has etched its place in history. Just like Antonio Conte wanted, his side can only
be matched but never surpassed. The Bianconeri completed a remarkable 38-game unbeaten season by
conquering Atalanta 3-1 and then watched as outgoing captain Alessandro Del Piero lifted the Serie
A trophy high into the Turin sky Having secured the Scudetto and record, Antonio Conte's mind is
now.
It all ended just the way everyone had hoped. Sunday was already going to be an emotional day for
Alessandro Del Piero, who most likely would be playing in his last home match for Juventus, a club
he had stayed with for an astonishing nineteen years. But to score was the cherry on top. In the
28th minute, with Juve ahead 1-0 thanks to the up-and-coming Luca Marrone, Del Piero received a
pass just.

Ibrahimovic's second Golden Boot in Italy as he also won in 2009 while playing for Inter Milan. The

Tears were shed from grown men on the weekend as we bid farewell to some fantastic players who have
graced Serie A. Alessandro Del Piero, Marco Di Vaio, Kaka Kaladze, Clarence Seedorf, Alessandro
Nesta, Pippo Inzaghi, Rino Gattuso and Gianluca Zambrotta played their last games for Juventus,
Bologna, Genoa and AC Milan.
Genoa home win over Palermo on Sunday night in the final round of matches in Serie A meant
relegation for Lecce. Earlier in the day we said some emotional farewells in both of the Juventus
and AC Milan matches. Alessandro Del Piero, Clarence Seedorf, Rino Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta,
Gianluca Zambrotta and Pippo Inzaghi said the farewells and we saw a goal each from Alessandro Del
Piero and Pippo.

On a weekend that saw several venerable insitutions of Italian football moving on (AC Milan
waved off Pippo Inzaghi, Clarence Seedorf, Alessandro Nesta, Gennaro Gattuso, Gianluca Zambrotta
and Mark van Bommel), one man's final game for his club was just that little bit more grandiose
than the rest with Alessandro Del Piero laying down his sword at Juventus after 19 years of
service, signing off with a goal (his 289th for the club) on his last appearance for the Old Lady
against Atalanta before being subbed off in the 58th-minute to a rapturous ovation.
TweetJuventus have officially joined the 'Invincibles' club by going through the Serie A season
unbeaten after a 3-1 win over Atalanta. The Bianconeri closed a memorable Serie A campaign with a
resounding 3-1 win over Atalanta at the Juventus Arena and inscribed themselves into Italian
folklore having gone through the entire season unbeaten.
One of the classiest footballers to ever wear a Juventus shirt (or any shirt) got the send-off
he deserved at his final home match. Juve finished off their undefeated season -- the first in a
38-match Serie A season, according to Paolo Bandini -- with a 3-1 win over Atalanta in which Del
Piero scored Juve's second goal.

While Juventus has already wrapped up their 28th title, there is still a lot to play for in the
final weekend of Serie A football.
Champions League Battle
Juventus and AC Milan will be two of Italy's three representatives in the Champions League next
season, but the third and final spot is up for grabs between Udinese, Lazio, Napoli and Inter
Milan.
With Serie A rolling into the last match-day, we are settling into one more scrape for survival.
Fiorentina officially achieved salvation with a 1-0 victory over Lecce on Saturday. Novara and
Cesena have officially been relegated and will see each other again in Serie B. Both Lecce and
Genoa lost last week to Fiorentina and Udinese respectively, meaning there is still a three point
gap between.
The title is heading back to Juventus. Inter Milan's 4-2 win in the Milan derby, their second of
the season, all but secured the title for the grand Old Lady who claimed all three points in
Trieste against Cagliari with a two-nil victory. Juve have now 28 undisputed Italian league titles
and 30 if you count the two that were revoked from them.
Juventus are champions of Italy for the first time since the Calciopoli scandal. They beat
Cagliari 2-0 in Trieste with a Vucinic strike and an own-goal by Canini to get the party started a
week before the end of the season. It is Juventus's 28th league title, (30th according to some of
their fans who still count the two Scudettos struck off for the Caciopoli scandal).

La lotta per lo scudetto, in Serie A, si riapre definitivamente. L'erroraccio di Buffon, di ieri

Not winning a game since early February Genoa are finding themselves in a battle to survive the
drop after their third defeat in seven days. On Sunday they lost away at Bologna and with Lecce
losing as well, Genoa are one point above the relegation zone. A squad that was bought for European
football could be playing Serie B football next season.
On loan Roma striker Marco Borriello scored the only goal to give Juventus a deserved 1-0 away win
at Cesena. Cesena with this result have now been relegated to Serie B. Both Milan clubs won their
games, AC Milan had to thank Kevin Prince Boateng for a late goal. Inter won away at Udinese to
give their push for Champions League Football a reality.

Serie A returned this week after the postponed fixtures off last week after the sad death of on

remembered for Juventus putting a brilliant performance at home to Roma. Off the pitch it will be
remembered for the sour scenes in Genoa where the Ultras made their mark and disrupted the game
against Siena.
There was some idiotic scenes in the Genoa, as the home side -losing to Siena at the time -were
demanded to take of their jerseys by their own ultras. The reasoning; according to this small
minority of fans the players were not fit enough to wear the club's colours. Marco Rossi, Genoa's
captain, ceded to their demands and went about collecting jerseys from his team-mates.
