The Premier League approaches television rights negotiations as a collective, seeking the best
price for all the leauge's clubs and then sharing the resulting revenue, for the most part,
equally. And late on Tuesday, it became clear that Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre intended to
lead a fight to destroy that system.
One story that has come about lately is the situation with the Overseas TV rights to show Premier
League football. Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre has raised an issue with how the money from
the deals is divided and is pushing for debate to happen that could see a huge shake up in our
game.
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre believes the option for Premier League clubs to sell their
overseas television rights on an individual basis would be a 'game-changer'.
The league's broadcast rights outside of the United Kingdom are presently sold in a joint package,
which is worth £3.2billion for 2010-13 to be shared equally among the 20 clubs.
