According to Rob Parrish at Sky Sports News, Manchester United have agreed to terms with Aston Villa youngster Ashley Young. It is reported that Young will complete his move to United when he returns from holiday.

According to Tottenham's official website, Tottenham have agreed to a deal with former Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel. Manager Harry Redknapp said,

"Brad is a top goalkeeper of real quality who has great experience.

According to James Pearce at the Liverpool Echo, Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing has decided not to commit to a new deal with the club right now, putting Liverpool on alert. Downing said,

"I know the club are keen for me to extend my contract as I only have two years left on my deal and that my agent had a recent meeting with our chief executive (Paul Faulkner).

According to Mat Kendrick at the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are looking to make a few signings this summer in the hope of convincing 25-year-old midfielder Ashley Young to stay. Boss Gary McAllister said,

"I think people were thinking that was staged, but his calf was screaming and he came off .

"I think there's been a couple of conversations already with my agent ... I've already spoken to the manager who has said he'd like to keep me .

According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are interested in signing Lorient midfielder Morgan Amalfitano, who will be a free agent this summer. While Aston Villa have made signing a defender their priority, they are still looking to sign the 26-year-old who has 14 goals with Lorient.

According to Louise Taylor at the Guardian, midfielder Matthew Ireland's chances of permanently signing with Newcastle, where he is playing on loan from Aston Villa, seem doubtful as he has failed to impress and will now be out for the rest of the season due to injury.

According to John Curtis at the PA, Aston Villa youngster Ashley Young will not begin any contract talks with the club until the summer. Young said,

"I've always said that I'm going to speak to the manager (Gerard Houllier) and the chairman (Randy Lerner) in the summer .

According to the Express and Star, Aston Villa may look to sign a new long-term goalkeeper over the summer despite the reports that they are going to sign Brad Friedel to a new deal. However it is reported that manager Gerard Houllier will have to sell to raise money to spend this summer.

According to ESPN Soccernet, Blackpool defender Neal Eardley expects his teammate Charlie Adam to move onto a bigger club this summer. Eardley said,

"Charlie played a massive part in us getting promoted ... I think he scored 19 goals last season from midfield, which is excellent, and he has proved again this season what a massive player he is for us.

According to Newcastle's official website, Newcastle have completed the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland on loan for the rest of the season.

Ireland had joined Villa in the summer as part of the deal for midfielder James Milner.

UPDATE: According to the Liverpool Echo, Charlie Adam has handed in a transfer request. His agent Kenny Moyes simply said,

"I can confirm Charlie has handed in a transfer request."

However Graeme Bailey at Sky Sports News is reporting that Blackpool will still not sell him unless they receive the amount they feel they deserve for Adam.

According to Sky Sports News, Aston Villa do not plan on selling midfielders Stewart Downing and Ashley Young. Manager Gerard Houllier said,

"They [Downing and Young] are not for sale - as simple as that. Whether it's Stewart or Ashley, they won't be leaving.

UPDATE: According to Aston Villa's official website, Aston Villa have completed the signing of striker Darren Bent. Bent has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the club.

UPDATE: According to Aston Villa's official website, Aston Villa have completed the signing of Jean Makoun. Makoun has agreed to a deal with the club that will keep him there until 2014. Now Makoun needs to secure a work permit before he can play with the club.

According to Graeme Bailey at Sky Sports News, Aston Villa are interested in signing Wigan Athletic striker Hugo Rodallega and defender Maynor Rodallega.

It is reported that Villa are willing to offer £10million for the duo.

UPDATE: According to the Blackpool Gazette, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway confirmed that he turned down bids from Aston Villa and Birmingham for Charlie Adam. Holloway said,

According to Aston Villa's official website, Aston Villa have signed Tottenham defender Kyle Walker on loan for the rest of the season.

According to Sky Sports News, Newcastle are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder David Bentley. This month Tottenham have been looking to sell the 26-year-old as oppose to loaning him out.

Bentley has already attracted the interest of Fulham, West Ham, and Aston Villa so far.

UPDATE: According to Fulham's official website, Fulham have completed the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell for an undisclosed fee. The deal is for six months but can potentially last until 2014.
