Days after his head coach cited a lack of progress as a reason for his benching, Jozy Altidore
responded in a big way.
In his first start for AZ Alkmaar in 2012, Altidore bagged a brace in the club's 3-3 draw with
Heerenveen. Altidore scored the game's opener when he received the ball with his back to goal,
turned and fired a shot to the near post.

If there were fears and concerns from fans and pundits over Tim Ream's move to Bolton Wanderers,
you would have been hard-pressed to identify why this weekend.
Three weeks after completing his move to Bolton, Ream made his debut for the club by earning a
start and going the distance in a 2-0 FA Cup win over Millwall.

The USA roster has changed a bit as three players have withdrawn and two are added. Timmy
Chandler, Landon Donovan, and Jose Francisco Torres have been forced to withdraw from the squad due
to injuries.
Aston Villa have announced massive losses of almost £54 million for the year ended 31 May 2011
and the club confirmed the overall group loss for the year has increased to £53.9m from
£37.6m.
That figure includes the money spent to bring Darren Bent to the club in January last year, but
does not factor in the sales of Ashley Young to Manchester United and Stewart Downing to Liverpool
which went through last June.

Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has a knack of scoring debut goals, and he's off to a flying
start at his new club QPR with an excellent first-half goal against Aston Villa.Cisse - aka 'Lord
of the Manor of Frodsham', the title he held when he played for Liverpool - scored 24 goals in 79
appearances during his time at Anfield.
Newcastle United are up to fifth in the Premier League after they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0,
while Arsenal's poor run of form continues as they were held 0-0 at Bolton.
Newcastle are now just three points behind Chelsea and a UEFA Champions League place as the

A big snowstorm hit England on Saturday, threatening to jeopardize the slate of matches set for

Sacha Kljestan has quietly put together a solid season for RSC Anderlecht, but he made some
noise in the club's latest win on Sunday.
Kljestan scored his third goal of the season (fourth across all competitions) in Anderlecht's
4-2 win over Racing Genk when he fired home a free kick from 30 yards out.

So Newcastle's new signing Papiss Demba Cisse and fellow Senegalese team mate Demba Ba netted

that the same two players could not do the same for Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations.
And this is interesting because African players have a tendency to perform well for their clubs,
