Paul Lambert is probably well aware that he faces an uphill struggle to stop his star striker from joining Arsenal. Although we have not heard anything about Arsene Wenger getting in touch with Aston Villa about a transfer, the Frenchman must be aware that Christian Benteke has hinted about moving and has even specifically mentioned the Gunners.
Arsenal do not play again until Tuesday night, giving the Gunners 10 days between games, while our opponents Wigan Athletic will be facing their fourth game in the same period. It is not the tiredness of the Wigan players that could help Arsenal, however, it is the tiredness of the Chelsea players.
When the Arsenal fans saw that Aaron Ramsey was in the starting 11 to face Bayern Munich on Tuesday, I am sure there was a lot of groaning, tutting and shaking of heads, but the young Welshman was actually one of the better players for the Gunners. After some shaky performances earlier in the season, the 22-year old has improved and is no longer the scapegoat for every bad result that Arsenal suffer.
CONGRATULATIONS TO QPR FOR

Adebayor 2, Aston Villa 0. And it wasn't like Spurs weren't trying. Actually, Ade should have had
at least 5 in this game, it was just that lopsided.By the way, for those of you scoring at home,
this puts Spurs in a tie with Newcastle in 3rd, with a game in hand as well...Video: Foxsports

For the past seven years the received truth was that Paul Scholes quit international football
because he felt undervalued being played out of position on the left wing and that he stayed in
retirement, despite the efforts of Steve McClaren and Fabio Capello, because he wanted to extend
his career with Manchester United and spend more time with his family.
Chelsea wins in controversial fashion while Manchester United lost to Arsenal leaving the title

Every Manchester United man was a hero in that unforgettable 1968 European Cup Final but a young

Denis Law and John Aston terrorising opposition defences with a frightening array of fire power.

OK, I'm kidding, it's pretty far from a secret. In fact it's everywhere and I must be
the last person to find out. Ironically, I checked all the latest news just minutes before this one
broke and then went off the grid. I came back and all hell is breaking loose!
This is a story that will evolve as the day goes on so I'll continue to update this post as we
learn more, but at the moment it would appear the rumours that emerged before the weekend of a
statement of intent style bid being submitted for a big name, but unknown striker were absolutely
on the money.

Bari in Italy is the next team staring at the precipice, being 13 points from safety with just 5 to
go.
