AEK will play Panserraikos in the semi-finals in the Greek Cup after the team from Serres managed
to get a 3-2 away win yesterday evening against Panathinaikos. If we advance to the finals we will
face either Olympiakos or Asteras Tripolis. Panserraikos will play AEK this weekend as well for the
championship.
Yep, you guessed it, another derby on the first matchday of the season. And AEK will once again
be one of the teams playing in the derby, just like last year. And who will our opponent be? Yep,
its Olympiakos!
The game is still a while away but Im sure the likes of Bajevic, Blanco, Scocco, and Kyrgiakos
are waiting for their revenge after our unfortunate loss in the Greek Cup Final of 2009.
According to Fotis Voinikas at Sky Sports, Blackburn are prepared to sign
16-year-old Asteras Tripolis goalkeeper Nikos Giannakopoulos.
Giannakopoulos impressed the club while on trial last week. He told Sport-FM,
"As far as I know, some details remain for my transfer to Blackburn, I would say only the
signatures.
No write-up for this game. Sorry about that, but somehow, neither Alex nor I found the time
on Sunday. But AEK won! And Majstorovic scored! Here is the clip:
Aek drew 0-0 last night in the second leg of the cup semi-final,progressing 3-1 on aggregate. We
will play either Olympiakos or Asteras Tripolis who play their second leg tonight.
UPDATE: According to Fotis Voinikas at Sky Sports News,
Blackburn have signed Asteras Tripolis goalkeeper Nikos
Giannakopoulos. Blackburn have agreed to pay £52,000 and Asteras Tripolis "will also
pocket 30 per cent of any future fee the 16-year-old generates.
We lost 2-1 to Benfica yesterday in a game which made no difference to either side (Bate beat
Everton 1-0 away). The funny thing here, however, is despite this match meaning nothing to AEK
(except a little pride) we saw some pleasing football from our players.
Benfica hit the post on a penalty early on which kept us in the game for quite a while but our
luck didn't last too long as Benfica scored two goals (the first one took a nasty bounce though
Saja still should have been able to save it) without response from AEK.
