Benoît Pierre David Assou-Ekotto, or Mr Consistency to a growing number of Spurs fans always
scores well in our polls but did his performance last night finally secure our man of the match
award?
BAE's most telling influences on the game came in attack with the raking diagonal ball that set up
Aaron Lennon and the pile-driving second half strike that doubled his tally in a Spurs shirt.

By far the best arrival of Transfer Deadline Day was Benoit Assou Ekotto's crazy afro. The
Tottenham left-back has ditched his cornrows to rejuvenate his Jackson Five look, and we can only
applaud. Excellent work, Benoit.

This weekend sees a rather welcome break from league action as Tottenham prepare to face Bolton
in the FA Cup 6th round. A trip to Wembley beckons for the winner and a chance of a place in the FA
Cup final itself but defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto claims every game is a cup final at this stage of
the season.
Reports today are quoting Benoit Assou-Ekotto as saying that he is looking to move on from Spurs.
As always, a bit of context is required. The questions below are from two interviews that Benny has
given recently that the British media has jumped on. Benny has been praised for his honesty during
his time at Spurs and we shouldn't be surprised when he says he may need to move on if his career
isn't progressing.
Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto scores a fantastic goal from all of 30 yards to give the
home side a 2-0 lead against Everton at White Hart Lane.
Brad Friedel and Spurs got the better of Tim Howard and Landon Donovan's Everton in the latest
battle of the Americans at Premier League level. Aaron Lennon fired in a shot from distance to open
the scoring in the 35th minute, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto made it 2-0 with a strong shot in the 63rd.
Friedel had an easy night, with Everton not putting a shot on goal.

Benoit Assou Ekotto's spectacular 30 yard strike continued a tradition of Spurs long range bombs
in recent times - Danny Rose, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Tom Huddlestone, Kyle Walker, come to mind. The
first goal came from Aaron Lennon, cutting past Leighton Baines, after the left back completely
missed clearing a long diagonal ball from Ekotto, and then shooting past the diving Tim Howard.
Spurs duly won their game in hand last night with goals from Aaron Lennon and a stunning 30 yard
strike from Benoit Assou-Ekotto that completed a 2-0 win and saw the club go level on 45 points
with Manchester United.
After the match, Harry Redknapp hailed a great win and emphasised that he finds it a joy just to
watch Tottenham at the moment.
After August's rioting in London, Tottenham full-back Benoit Assou Ekotto was one of the most vocal
and active footballing voices suggesting that the game could be doing more to deal with social
problems in their local area. The Cameroon international took to the streets to see some of the
worst affected areas for himself after [.

Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone has had a lot of time on his hands since his ongoing ankle
injury started acting up again. But don't be thinking he's wasting it playing FIFA, pimping out his
wheels and falling out of clubs like most footballers do.

A few news and notes from an exciting FA Cup weekend... Tottenham were held to a 0-0 draw at
Stevenage but the worst news came from the infirmary: Luka Modric (flu), Emmanuel Adebayor (knee),
and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (groin) all missed ... Continue reading →
From starting the week with something bordering on an injury crisis, Spurs are almost at full
strength for tomorrow's clash at the Emirates and that raises plenty of questions about team
selection.
Ahead of the game, Harry gave us an update on those returning to full fitness.
"Luka went down with the flu and Adebayor had a knee injury, hopefully they will be okay," said
Harry.
I've quoted Harry's post-QPR comments about our centre half issues twice already so I won't
repeat them yet again. However, it has emerged today that things are going from bad to worse on the
injury front with reports that both Younes Kaboul and Benoit Assou-Ekotto could miss the rest of
the season.
In last year's player of the season poll on this site, Benoit Assou-Ekotto came second –
albeit a very distant second behind eventual winner Luka Modric – and that was a measure of the
esteem that most of the fans held him in at the time.
We've always known that BAE can be a little aloof – talking about playing for Spurs as just a
job – but have his latest comments dampened his reputation?
