Twitter has brought us plenty of breaking news since it's become one of the quickest ways to spread
news, and the Wizards have done their fair share of it. Wizards President Robb Heineman has given
fans some news today as he announced "verbal agreement on assistant coach. hopefully announe soon,
after contract signed".

According to the DC United news source the Soccer Insider Ben Olsen is now considering the
option of retirement. As the SI said, the idea was thrown around after last season with his 1
appearance last season.
Olsen is DC United. When you say DC United you think Ben Olsen. One would hope that when Olsen
does decide retirement is necessary, he will stay with the club in some capacity.

There's very little in this rumor right now, so take that for what you will. In a post by Ives
Galarcep earlier today about the MLS coaching carousel, he makes a passing mention of Octavio
Zambrano, who used to coach in MLS but has most recently been coaching in Hungary. Ives mentions
Zambrano as a potential new head coach for Chivas USA, but also mentions that Zambrano is "believed
to be in the frame for an assistant coaching position within MLS (with Kansas City a possibility).

I will have a piece up at ESPN Soccernet later today looking back at the pair of weekend
conference finals and gazing ahead at this weekend's MLS championship. Here's a little sneak peak
at the most interesting note:
It involved Landon Donovan and his ability to convert penalty kicks. And it involves
RealSaltLake goalkeeper Nick Rimando, whose heroic performance in Saturday's penalty kick
tiebreaker against Chicago is a big reason why the men of Utah remain alive today.

Singapore v Thailand 1-3 (Mustafic Fahruddin; Sutee Suksomkit 2, Therdsak Chaiman) 22,183
First 20 minutes the Thais showed why they are best side in ASEAN as their slick passing and
intelligent moving tore the Singapore rearguard to shreds.
Prompted by the impressive Datsakorn Thonglao at the heart of the midfield the Thais spread the
play and often had the Singaporeans chasing shadows.

Their last appearance was in the 1982 World Cup. This time they beat Bahrain, 1-0 with
Plymouth's Rory Fallon scoring a goal just before half time.
The All Whites had to go through some very anxious moments in the second half as Abdulla Omar
was brought down in the box by Toney Lochhead for a penalty.

Preki is leaving Chivas USA...so where will he go next? (Getty Images)
Some news that I'd like to say we've been calling here for the last couple weeks has finally
come down. Chivas USA and Preki have decided to go their own ways as they mutually agree to Preki
stepping down as the club's manager, this according to a press release just sent out by the
club.

The announcement today came after several days of rumors and speculation that Preki could be
fired and just days after he had failed to guide the club past the first round of the MLS playoffs
for the third consecutive year.
Despite assurances earlier this season that the club didn't want to disrupt the team's slow
"building" process under Preki, many fans believed the club was stagnating and change was
needed.

Sunday's men's soccer match at Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs made a lot of
sense.
On the field, Robert Kinsey had a hat trick and added an assist to lift Colorado State-Pueblo to
a 5-3 victory over Colorado-Colorado Springs.
But what made sense is that there was a match at all.

acknowledges heroes of the team's history. Added last night was Chris Armas, joining Bob Bradley,
Piotr Nowak, Lubos Kubik, Frank Klopas and Pitch Invasion's own Peter Wilt in the Ring. Despite
the pouring rain all night, Fire supporters, including myself, stayed in the stands to recognise
Chris at an excellent half-time ceremony, midway through a critical game that eventually saw the
Fire reach the MLS playoffs after a 1-0 win over Chivas USA.

The 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea in the CL group stage was the last straw. With
Atletico almost out of the CL and only one win in the Liga, it has been a horrible start to the new
season. Goals have been hard to come by given that the club boasts the likes of "Kun" Aguero and
Diego Forlan.

Quarter final first legs tonight. Favourites Selangor take on Terengganu at the Shah Alam Stadium
and in my humble opinion could be in for a hard night. And that piece of wisdom is based on 90
minutes watching the team known as the Turtles beat Johor 4-2 earlier in the month. Their assistant
coach Mohamad Nik is warning them against losing concentration.

Big Story
The Montreal Impact defeated the defending champions Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 at Stade Saputo
yesterday to win the USL-1 Final 6-3 on aggregate. First half goals from Tony Donatelli, Joey
Gjertsen and Roberto Brown were all Montreal needed to win, although Vancouver defender Shaun
Pejic's controversial red card in the 29th minute for hauling down the last man in the area
probably helped a mite.

USAÂ 2-2Â Costa Rica
It took 95 minuets but the US Mens Soccer team seemed to will themselves into finishing atop
their CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying group.
Bryan Ruiz scored a brace within minutes of each other for Costa Rica. Those goals in the 21st
and 24th minute of play capitalized on the few chances the Ticos had been allowed up until that
point.
