by Robert Jonas - Center Line SoccerThe drawn out saga of the proposed San Jose Earthquakes soccer stadium continued this week
with a small but favorable step in the right direction. At Tuesday's San Jose City Council meeting,
an amendment to the land purchase agreement between the city and the stadium developers was passed
in a unanimous vote.
Serbia international Milan Jovanovic appears to be on his way out of Premier League side Liverpool
with clubs such as Genoa and Hamburg having shown an interest in signing the attacker, according to
a report in the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old left Belgian side Standard Liege on a free transfer last summer in order to sign
for Liverpool, but the highly rated attacker has so far failed to live up to expectations at his
new club and has mainly been warming the bench.
Jamie Carragher's shoulder injury sustained against Spurs on Sunday will keep the centre-back out
until at least March leaving Roy with some thinking to do.
In a bid to strengthen a rather light defensive outfit, Hodgson will look to splash the cash on
Bolton's highly rated Gary Cahill. A bid upwards of roughly £12million should be enough to get
Bolton's attention.
Ipswich Town sensation Connor Wickham is ready to reject a move to Liverpool as he wants to join
Arsenal or Tottenham in January, Goal.com UK can reveal.
Liverpool are hoping to win the race for the highly regarded striker by meeting the £10 million
asking price set by Ipswich.

be a stretch too far for the American owners.
The ultimate fantasy get out clause of a billionaire take-over has once again raised it's head in
the murky world of internet rumourdom.
While most of the time we strive for the moral high ground when discussing our club's relative
povery, saying stuff like "well I don't want us to buy success any way" or we are "doing things the
right way" our morals would be swiftly dropped before you could say oil riches should a billionaire
Sheikh come calling.

Should he stay or should he go?
No, this isn't another Landon Donovan transfer question because, let's face it, the general
consensus is that Donovan should move to Europe if a team is willing to pay the asking price.
No the question here is whether Donovan should really consider making another loan move this
winter like he made last winter.
At the rate things are going in the stationary department, Man City's trillionaires may want to
forget about overpaying for their next superstar and invest some money in their own postal service.

"DRAAAAAGOOOOOO!!!!"
Bit of weird one this. Feyenoord have publicly told Cardiff's loanee gobshite Craig
Bellamy to kindly stop telling 'cowboy stories' to anyone who will listen about him
joining the Dutch outfit over the summer.
MLS is in the midst of negotiating a new TV deal with Fox Soccer Channel, and according to Sports
Business Journal (which is a subscription site, so you get this instead), isn't being shy about the
process. The current FSC contract is worth about $3 million a year. MLS is asking for $20 million.
That's nearly a seven-fold increase, and no one could argue that the ratings are on the League's
side.
If Landon Donovan is tired, and how could he not be, then staying home this winter is probably a
good idea. There is only so much life in the legs of a soccer player. Donovan's schedule over the
last two years borders on insane, particularly because while he's supremely conditioned, he's
hardly a young player anymore.
The Reds have reportedly identified the Ivorian as their prime target in January.
Liverpool has turned their well-known interest in Lille ace Gervinho into an official offer in the
region of €12.5m, according to tuttomercatoweb.com.
French outfit Lille were believed to be demanding €15m for the player, but due to good relations
between the two sides, it appears they have now lowered their asking price.
