Canberra has produced a number of Socceroos, A-League players and currently has 4 Canberrans in the
Joeys squad.
So when they announced the first Under 13 boys Australian team ever....thirty spots mind you..I
felt sure with thousands of kids playing football, Coerver Coaching, and various Academy and
Clinics around town surely we'd be able to get one or maybe two players into the squad.
PETALING JAYA: England-based youngster Haziq Zikri Elias is set to join the Harimau Muda (national
Under-19) squad for two major international assignments this year.
The 18-year-old Haziq, who plays for Stevenage Borough FC in the Conference National League in
Hertfordshire, will attend trials here tomorrow.
Aussie Under 13 boys and 14 girls teams will be selected from this weeks State trials in Canberra
starting Sunday.....oh and btw the fields chosen for our nation's best should suit the least
talented!
Fixtures and squads below....
As part of our new place in Asia apparently we need a young girls and boys team.
If Ernesto "Che" Guevara was alive today, he would find Japan a maddening place to launch
a revolution.
It's not because he polarises opinion in The Land Of The Rising Sun. There's no debate over whether
he was a freedom fighter or blood-thirsty mercenary on the streets of Tokyo - most young Japanese
are familiar with his face only because it adorns the tackiest of designer handbags in the
capital's upmarket boutiques.
An early start, (Aug 6th) and much later finish (March 20). Which extends the season by about 6 or
7 weeks.
We're getting closer to a real football season. 27 games plus finals...in A World Cup Year...it's
only going to get better and better for Aussie football fans.
New teams, new players, more games.

When the draw for the AFC Champions League group stage was made back in December 2008, few
tipped unheralded Japanese side Nagoya Grampus as potential title contenders.
The general consensus was that Dragan Stojkovic's team had been lucky to sneak into third place in
the J. League, and thereby qualify for the Asian Football Confederation's recently revamped
continental jamboree.
Vietnam will host the AFC U-14 women's Football Festival from June 17 through 30.
The event will attract eight members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) including
Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and host Viet
Nam.
This year, the Ha Noi women's football club will represent Viet Nam in the event.
It's yet another four-all draw...
Both Rupert Murdoch and Leonard Blavatnik are worth $4.0 billion.
The match that will determine the future of world football is on the verge of becoming a

Halfway through the Confederations Cup group stages we're getting a better sense of what to expect
next summer, both on and off the field. Here's a look at some of the story lines.
Not much has changed for the US since 2006: The US appears no better or no worse than the
team that went 0-2-1 at the 2006 World Cup.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) governs the footballing community of Asia and also now
includes Australia, but it doesn't include a number of Asian (or part-Asian) countries, who are
part of UEFA. The headquarters are located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The AFC was formed in 1954 (believe it or not on the sidelines of a game), by Afghanistan,
Burma, Republic of China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea Republic, Pakistan,
Philippines, Singapore & Vietnam.
If Frank Lowy knows anything then Canberra are "unlikely," to get an A-League spot on Monday. But
Canberrans shouldn't panic just yet.
And you know Frank isn't always in tune with his CEO and his team and Mike Cockerill is hardly
renowned for getting to the bottom of a story is he?
He still thinks it's Wollongong or no-one or maybe he's looking for a job in West Sydney, either
way coming from Mike.

Vietnam's national football coach said on Monday that he was very pleased with the debut
performance of Vietnamese football ace Le Cong Vinh in round seven of Portugal's premier league on
