English Premier League champions Manchester United expects continued growth in Asia to drive
sales of merchandise and revenue from commercial agreements. With more than 190 million fans in
Asia, out of nearly 300 million around the world, the region had become "very important" to the
team, Commercial Director Richard Arnold told Reuters during a press conference to promote MU's
Asia Trophy Tour.
The biggest football tournament in Asia is in its second week and Team Melli's 2-1 win over Iraq
in their Group D opener has reinvigorated the football crazed Iranian fans. Among the fans are

Look what greeted us on the doormat at Pies Towers this morning, a batch of photos of Chelsea's
brand new, solar-powered Adidas away kit for 2011/12...
Apparently, the socks are 'revolutionary' Adidas' words, not mine as they have padding in the
feet.
I thought that Peter Kenyon said some stupid things when he was at Chelsea, but the comments by
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay surpass anything that Kenyon ever said.
Gourlay was in Asia ahead of Chelsea's tour there this summer and was asked about Chelsea firing
Carlo Ancelotti one year after he won the double.
Don't don't don't don't! Bình Dương's Lee Nguyen scored twice from restarts, including the late
winner from a devilish corner kick, to key a 4-3 win over Thanh Hóa.Side note: Isaac Acuna also
scored again this weekend, but his Mexico call-up seems set to pull him out of our pool. Of course,
if he turns it down, I'll go back to putting him up at NSC.
Strength of Confeds Based on Distribution in FIFA Rankings
SoccerMetrics looks at the strength of Confederations in a graphical form. The post also looks
at how an "Americas" Confederation would standout (most balanced in world).
Notable - CONCACAF still better than Asia. Still with less slots for World
Cup.
Chelsea will wear their new Turquoise Square away shirt for the very first time
when they take on Hong Kong champions Kitchee in the Barclays Asia Trophy opener on July 27.
Their shirt features TechFit technology which will help improve speed, increase

On Manchester United's trophy tour of Asia, Patrice Evra has told CNN Go that he never gets
bored of winning trophies.
"No, that is the curse of Manchester United. It is never enough to win the trophies,"
he said. "That's why Manchester United is a big club, and we want to stay on the top.
Liverpool beat a Malaysian IX 6-3 today in their pre-season tour of asia,
however despite scoring 6 goals the Red's still look vulnerable in defence.

In which Chelsea's resident in-house Beatles tribute band a fab foursome consisting of Messrs
Drogba, Malouda, Ferreira and Cech perform 'Let It Be' live (with a little, alright, a lot
of help from their friends) in the restaurant of their hotel during the club's pre-season tour of
Asia.
Yes, I'll go ahead and say it. Jared Borgetti, eat your heart out. (Not really, it's still
pretty epic.)
Ryujiro Ueda of Fagiano Okayama earns the title with his bombing own-half header into the back
of the net, which he then celebrated like a tap-in on the goal line. Smooth.
Asian tour promo bloopers Arsenal have attempted to drum-up interest in their forthcoming tour of
Asia by recording some messages in the languages of the places they will be visiting. A nice idea
in theory, but trickier to execute given the lack of Chinese and Malaysian speakers in the Gunners'
first-team squad.
Nicklas Bendtner has been left out of the pre season preparations trip to Malaysia/China in Asia.
NB has trained all week @ Arsenal's training base but was left out of the squad that travels to the
Far East probably with a view to him joining another club in the near future in a loan or full
transfer.
Real Madrid 2011 SPANISH FOOTBALL Club REAL MADRID started on Monday ( yesterday ) their pre-season

Samir Nasri could be flogged by Arsenal after an apparent row with manager Arsene Wenger.
Manchester City are willing to pay £22m for the French midfielder, says the Mirror. The redtop
claims he was left "brooding" at home on yesterday as the team flew to Portugal for today's
friendly against Benfica.

The word of the round: swagger. Whether it was coming, going, or never showing up, swagger more

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will hold Asia's national team championship, the AFC Asian

No way this is real...right?
We've seen a lot of wunderkinds around these parts, but perhaps none with ball control so silky,

Inter Milan defender Yuto Nagatomo is being linked with a move to Liverpool, according to
Sportingo.
The 24-year-old has seen opportunities at the San Siro limited with Maicon and Cristian Chivu ahead
of him in the pecking ordering.
And with him looking for way out of the club, and Liverpool looking to expand their Asian playing
squad after sponsors Standard Chartered recommended such a move, Nagatomo could be on his way.
Well, it finally happened. After months and months on end of declaring his willingness to take
any job in the world of some stature, including some months of polite "thanks, but no thanks" looks
and shutting doors, Diego has found employment.
And it couldn't be further from the stage he enjoyed at the World Cup this summer (well, I
suppose it could, were he to have taken sabbatical to the Tanzanian second), as it's in Dubai.
The English Premier League's Asian Trophy is a biennial tournament and the only Premier

Many people thought that Pele first goal vs. France in 1958 World Cup was a very easy goal. That is
because Pele did the great things and made them looks very easy lol

This happens from time to time: a nice guy in a world seemingly comprised of those who have
money at the forefront eschews any contract at all in order to help out a club. Joseba Exteberria
did it. Damiano Tommasi did it. Others will do it.
And Takayuki Suzuki is doing it for Mito Hollyhock in the J.
Jordan's Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein has responded to an Australian blogger who quiried whether the
new FIFA Vice-President would represent all of Asia or increase the split between the east and west
of football's largest continental organisation, the Asian Football Confederation. Writing in the
online version of Australia's Four Four Two magazine, Paul Williams observed: "As control of Asian

There's nothing about this Chinese pitch invasion which isn't absolutely hilarious, from the
stature of the invader himself to the painfully slow yet deft movements required by the referee to
escape "bodily harm". Or the need to place hand on head as the pitch invader as he swings wildly at
the referee's midsection, only hitting crisp, cool air.
