Ben Olsen looks thrilled to take over as manager, but guys like Devon McTavish should be happy
about the coaching change.
The hot seat in D.C. just got too hot for Curt Onalfo as he has been released from his manager
duties with United. The club announced today that Ben Olsen will take over as the interim manager
with D.

News of The World - QPR POISED TO APPOINT COTON AS NO2
COTON: Rangers want him as No2 Read By Neil Ashton, 16/01/2010
TONY COTON is poised to join Queens Park Rangers.
Have I got news for you? It's very easy to have a highbrow above the eyebrow opinion about the News of the World. It's
England's biggest-selling newspaper, but even if you don't think it's the best, it's certainly hard
not to have a cursory glance as you hover over the Sunday papers.
So, to lay to rest all our tabloid-broadsheet sectarian fears, we thought we'd dial up the News of
the World's chief football correspondent Neil Ashton for the latest in our series of interviews
with football journalists - even though he does support Crystal Palace.
MK Dons 1-1 Boro AET (Guy 49, Charles 90) Stevenage win 7-6 on
penalties
Official Report | MK Dons view
Mathias Doumbe's missed penalty proved decisive as Stevenage knocked League 1 side MK Dons out
of the FA Cup. Boro's resilience shone through in the end as the home side struggled to get to
grips with Graham Westley's side.
Steven Goff of the Washington Post reports that goalkeeper Pat Onstad is
unlikely to return to the Houston Dynamo and has been approached by D.C. United about joining its
coaching staff to oversee the keeper corps. Tim Mulqueen, the goalkeeper coach for
U.S.
The team announced the sixth coach in team history today. It can be debated whether this was a good
move, but I, for one, will put faith that the club has done it's due diligence in making the
decision to have Curt Onalfo lead the charge starting this season. I believe there are reasons for
optimism:
1) Youthful, energetic coach, 2) His familiarity with the team ideals and staff, 3) His history of
working with young players in his time directing our United Youth Development program for two
years.
Two goals from in form Stacy Long were enough to give Stevenage another 3 points, this time at
the expense of Kettering Town. In what was a scrappy and physical contest, Stevenage had to wait
until just after the hour before Long smashed in his first. Kettering threw everything into trying
to nick an equaliser, including sending up Nathan Abbey, but in doing that were caught on the break
with Long again scoring after rounding the goalkeeper.
A few days ago we unveiled Chad Ashton as United's new Technical Director. Many fans are
familiar with the Technical Director role, but few understand the intricacies of the job. We sat
down with Chad to get a stronger understanding of his duties, and to talk about the upcoming
season. Chad touches upon the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, youth development in the United States, and his
own playing career.
The concern that had been aired during the week was that the "Beyond The Debt" rally could be
scuppered by the weather. As the tenants at Bury's Gigg Lane, FC United of Manchester suffer more
postponements than most but on Saurday, even though the pitch is in a poor condition, the predicted
rain has managed to hold off for long enough to ensure that the game goes ahead.
Well we never do things the easy way do we? We were by no way at our best last night, but we did
just enough to come away from Moss Lane with 3 vital points. It's these sorts of games that if you
win then you just know it's going to be your year. However, it certainly didn't look like that 10
minutes from time.
After such a successful season, here are FC Boro's End of Season 2009/2010 awards.
Player of the season
Winner: Ronnie Henry
Quite simply there could have been a few winners of this award, unlike previous seasons where
you could single out one outstanding performer.
Darius Charles is Stevenage's first signing of the summer as they prepare for life in League 2.
Charles joins Boro as a free agent after his contract with Ebbsfleet expired. According to the
official site, a fee will still be due to Ebbsfleet as the player is under the age of 24 and
negotiations will begin now with the Kent club to try and agree a compensation deal.
I don't know what I just typed. Seriously. I'm 48 years old. I don't like Paris Hilton and
Ashton Kuschner. I do like John Mayer but only his music.
But I'm twittin', y'all!!
And I want you to twit with me. If you don't twit with me, you're twat...
Oh, let's twit again. [read more]
I thought that the signing of Darius Charles would be it for our defensive signings, but
Stevenage have announced this evening that former Oxford defender Luke Foster has signed for the
club on a free transfer. Foster joins the Conference Champions after he was released by Mansfield
last week due to comments he made on a popular social networking site.
Football returns to Broadhall Way on Tuesday evening when League 1 Champions Norwich City are
the visitors. The Canaries come into the game on the back of a successful tour of Germany where
they finished off with a 2-0 victory over SV Bergisch Gladbach 09. Boro have had a mixed start to
their pre-season.

Ah, knockabout homophobia, football's unwanted gift to the world.
That said, it's one of my personal highlights of Euro 96. And can you spot the fat Eddie
Edwards?

It's been a long wait, but tomorrow is the day when the football league dream finally becomes a
reality. 14 years since 1996, 13 weeks since the Trophy final, it feels like we've waited forever
for this moment, but Boro become part of the elite tomorrow afternoon when Macclesfield come to
town.
After the opening day draw against Macclesfield on Saturday, Boro are back in action again
tomorrow evening when they host cash-strapped Portsmouth at the Lamex Stadium. It's Stevenage's
first foray into the Carling Cup and they couldn't have wished for a more "glamourous" tie to kick
things off. Pompey were last season's FA Cup finalists as well as Quarter finalists in the Carling
Cup, where they went out to Aston Villa.
Stockport are the visitors to Broadhall Way tomorrow afternoon as the football league begins to
become the norm for Stevenage. The last few weeks have been dominated by the clubs "step-up" to the
Football League. We've had the first league game, first Carling Cup game, first league game away
from home, but the Stockport game isn't a first.
Boro 3-1 Stockport (Griffin 2, Bostwick)
Highlights (to come tomorrow) | Westley Interview
Stevenage secured their first win in the football league with a comfortable 3-1 victory against
Stockport County. Two goals from Charlie Griffin, plus a stunning strike from Michael Bostwick gave
Boro a 3-0 lead before Stockport sneaked a consolation at the end when George Donnelly headed
home.
After a nightmare of a journey and nearly 3 hours on both the M25 and M3, I have to say I was
pretty relieved to get away from the Rec with a point. Although Boro took the lead through a Chris
Beardsley strike, Aldershot equalised when Damian Spencer made the most of a rare defensive
mix-up. The Shots were unlucky not to win the game late on when Marvin Morgan missed both a
penalty and then the resulting rebound to make sure the visitors made their way back to
Hertfordshire with their first point away from home this season.
It's Stevenage v Brentford tonight in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. For those not going down to
Broadhall Way tonight, but still wanting to keep an eye on the game, you can keep updated on here
from 7.45pm as we give you LIVE text updates from the game. It'll be more exciting than keeping up
to date on the transfer deadline day!
Boro have won 1, drew 3 and lost 2 of their opening 6 games in the Football League. It's not
been the flying start we were all hoping for, but there are signs that the team isn't far away from
starting to get some results on the board. Over the next week or so, I'm going to have a look into
the start we've made, starting with a look at how the new signings have started to settle in to
their new surroundings.
Holroyd: Has impressed Westley
Ok, he didn't use those exact words, but Graham Westley more or less said that on loan striker
Chris Holroyd was the "star" striker on show against Rotherham on Saturday. A lot of the pre-match
attention was on the Millers' no.10 Adam Le Fondre, who tops the League 2 goal charts with 9 goals
so far to his name.
Boro 0-0 MK Dons
Official Report | Westley Interview
Well, it wasn't the greatest game to watch, but a goalless draw and a replay at
stadium:MK in 10 days time was probably a fair result for both sides. Stevenage matched
their League 1 opponents throughout and arguably had the clearest chance when Stacy Long hit his
shot straight at Dons' keeper David Martin in the opening stages.
Boro 1-1 Shrewsbury (Holroyd 8, Harrold 55)
Official Report | Westley Interview
Another game and another draw. Although, this time we actually scored for a change. Chris
Holroyd's 8th minute strike got Boro off to a good start, but a Matt Harrold equaliser in the
second half punished the home side for failing to put their chances away.
Accrington 1-0 Boro (McConville 67)
Highlights | Official Report
No defeat is nice, but when you drive 390 miles, spend £50 on petrol and then have to endure 90
minutes of abject football, then it hurts just a little bit more. To make matters worse, the defeat
was to Accrington Stanley.
Holroyd: Has impressed on his loan spell
Scoring goals has been our biggest problem so far this season. Out of the 18 games we have
played so far, we've scored 20 goals. 50% of those goals came in the 3 games against Stockport,
Hereford and Barnet, all of which are currently in the bottom 5 of the division.
MANCHESTER, England FC United of Manchester's dream of a third-round tie at Old Trafford is still
alive after Samuel Ashton saved a late penalty against Brighton in the 1-1 FA Cup draw at the
Withdean Stadium. Gus Poyet's men the League One leaders looked on course to complete a comeback
victory when [.

WASHINGTON - After officially completing his 180-degree turn about his stance on D.C. United's
head coaching situation, team president and chief executive officer Kevin Payne insisted that Ben
Olsen was the man for the job all along.
