Football chants are the metaphoric glue that bonds fans together in banter. For some players these are songs praising their talent, for others, well, it's best not to go there. Unfortunately there are some offensive corkers we had to leave out, but the ones we left in are equally class.

Steven Pienaar liked the look of Stamford Bridge from Fulham Road. Once inside, the South African was not so impressed. Between £40-50K per week, you say? I think I'll bugger on down to the Lane.

Good riddance.

Wenger’s stance on English talent is shifting

Arsene Wenger is a hugely intelligent man, of that there is no doubt. I do think that he has noticed a flaw in his plans though. Foreign youngsters will always want to return to their homeland at some point.

However, purchasing English talent, especially from smaller clubs could be even more successful if the quality of the player matches that of a foreign born youngster.

Now before you read the rest of this post I would like you to turn your attention to my match preview I wrote yesterday. Please read the whole post first, you can find it here. Chelsea did everything I asked of them and every single one of our front three got on the score sheet.

I was reading this article in the Guardian about Jeffrey Bruma on his debut and the injury time equaliser Villa scored and it got me thinking. The title of the article is "Bruma refuses to take the blame for Chelsea's late collapse" and I have to admit I wondered straight away "Why would he?".
As I have said in my match report after the game it was in fact Lampard's man and then Ashley Cole, rather than react to the run, stood there with his arm up hoping for offside.

I have a pet hate when it comes to Harry Redknapp and that's his inability to keep his mouth shut. However, I'm not stupid enough to assume everything he says are his own opinions, especially when it comes to player signings. I may be completely wrong but judging by the odd comment here and there about what he's allowed to say and what he's not I think it's safe to assume someone within the club briefs him regularly.

Unless you have millions upon millions to chuck into the market, you need a plan and solid infrastructure.

Jonathan Liew of the Telegraph summed this one up before I even had a chance to revisit the scene.

"Grinding out wins in adversity may be the hallmark of champions, but still, this was about as unsatisfying a 2-0 victory as it is possible to imagine. For a team low on morale and down on their luck, it is a start, but Ancelotti will be aware it is no more than that.

Unfortunately it's the reports in the tabloids documenting what goes on outside football that dominate headlines more often than not. Konchesky left Craven Cottage in late August to become Liverpool's new left-back but his performances under Hodgson, previously his manager at Fulham, led to him being heavily criticized by the club's supporters and demoted from the team.
