If we did indeed have an office here at WDKF towers, im sure the topic of debate (in the
interests of football and jounalism!) would once and a while turn towards the phenomenon that is
"the WAG"... and who indeed is "the best" In my opinion, you can't really beat the Tweedy, for she
ticks all the boxes.
Last week coach Fabio Capello revealed England's national squad roster for the upcoming
September 6th friendly against Slovenia, followed by the September 9th World Cup Qualifier against
Crotia. There were a few surprises on the roster additions, but what might have been most
surprising was a few of the names left off of the list.
Out of town for the weekend - but didn't miss much on the footie front other than a few surprising
World Cup qualifying results. Let's take a look at some of the news coming out of the international
break as it pertains to the Premier League:
- Israel crashed out of World Cup qualifying despite dominating their match against Latvia.
What are you waiting for?
Emmanuel Adebayor has managed to make himself even more unpopular among the Arsenal fans than a
certain Ashley Cole, which is saying something. More than likely every single Gunners fan would
like to say something to the Manchester City striker, so here's your chance.
" Manchester United star Wayne Rooney must not be labelled a diver - I remember him
as a player who tried to keep on his feet."
Graham Poll was always a buffoon. The depths of his incompetence was plumbed with the Josip
Simunic farce in the Croatia vs Australia match in the 2006 World Cup.
Arsenal Fans Can Have No Excuses
Emmanuel Adebayor is Public Enemy Number One at the moment, partly for his stamp on Robin Van
Persie, and mostly because of his goal celebration in front of the Arsenal fans. "Inciting a riot".
Of course it was ill-advised he must have Ashley Cole's Public Relations officer but it still
should not defend the embarrassing actions of the Arsenal fans present, causing unnecessary injury
to a steward.
The media has been castigating Arsene Wenger since he came to England over the lack of English
players that have come through the Arsenal ranks during his spell at Arsenal.
In fact during this period both Ashley Cole and Kieran Gibbs have played regularly for Arsenal,
in the same period there have been players coming through the ranks at Liverpool, Tottenham or
Chelsea and Manchester United have Wes Brown to show for their great English academy.
When the £80m transfer deal for Cristiano Ronaldo was confirmed United fans were writing out
their shopping list of players they wanted Sir Alex Ferguson sign. We could do with another winger,
another central midfielder, another striker, maybe a right-back, but our transfer kitty meant we
could buy as many players as we wanted.
One Ashley out, one Ashley in Cheryl Cole has said she would consider a takeover bid for Newcastle
United - if she had enough money. The Girls Aloud star's £10 million fortune is unlikely to meet
owner Mike Ashley's valuation of the Magpies. And even allowing for hubby Ashley chipping in some
of his £3.
The transfer traitors that shocked the fans and football
After all the kerfuffle a certain dread locked bean pole caused this week, I thought I'd
resurrect an old post from a few months back to see who really is the most hated by his ex
fans.
10. Barmby/Beardsly – Merseyside Fanny Magnets
Baby faced Nicky Barmby and Quasimodo faced Peter Beardsley both played for the Red and Blue of
Merseyside in the glory years of their careers.
Enthralling derby at Stamford Bridge as Ashley Cole's header put the game in Chelsea's favour
before goals from Ballack and Drogba killed of a resilient Spurs side.

Chelsea sits at the top of the Premier League after yesterday's 3-0 victory over Tottenham at
Stamford Bridge yesterday. Ancelotti have set a new club record of 11 straight wins.Overall,
Chelsea were moving at third gear for most of the game, yet won reasonably comfortably in the end.
So easy to hate in real life, so easy to love in the fantasy world
Here's what I
know:
Ashley Cole has 2 goals this season in 6 matches.
In 2008-2009, he scored 1 goal the whole season. In 2007-2008, he scored 1 goal the whole season. In
2006-2007, he scored 0 goals the whole season.
If Wayne Rooney dived in the world cup final and was awarded a penalty that led directly to England
winning the world, would he be targeted and denigrated by the press and fans the next day, just
like Eduardo was after the Celtic game? Arsene Wenger doesn't think so, and I think he's right.
In a recent interview, Wenger said:
"England are in the World Cup and if Rooney does that [Dives] in the last minute of the game and
England win the World Cup, do you really think Rooney will be slaughtered the next day?
It's funny how karma works. Chelsea took an inhumanely stern line with Adrian Mutu, and now
FIFA has taken a stern line with them.
The Blues have been found guilty of "inducing" French midfielder Gael Kakuta to break his
contract with Lens in 2007. FIFA has forbid them to participate in the next two transfer windows,
barring them from signing a player until 2011.
Not this again:
- Fabregas to Barcelona move in December?
- Chelsea is making Anelka mad.
- Babel wants an Ajax return.
- Gunners duo sign new deals.
- Ashley Cole pens new Blues deal.
- No Real Madrid deal, says Ribery.
- Zaki not returning to EPL?
Oh the irony of it all: One of the wealthiest football clubs in the world, with a proven
world-class manager who is yet to splash some serious cash at his new club, and suddenly the bank
has been forced to involuntarily shut its doors until January 2011. All due to a little unknown
reserve team player (unless you play Football Manager.
Given that we are in the midst of an international break, there is a surprising amount to get
through.
First, we have yesterday's comments from John Terry that English players don't dive:
"That's something the England lads don't do. Sometimes we're too honest. Even in the Premier
League, we see the English lads get a bit of contact and try to stay on their feet and score the
chance.
Goodplaya: Wenger chants smear everything United say they stand for rant.
As Mike Dean and his assistant will well know, for 13 years Arsene Wenger has had to endure
thousands upon thousands of people sing at him "sit down you paedophile" every time he stands up at
Old Trafford. Presumably even the majority of Spurs and Chelsea fans think it beyond the pale
because despite the tune being around for years, the only place you ever heard it song with any
great gusto is Old Trafford.
Isn't it amazing how long it takes Fifa to put put five words together and then act upon them.
Football's transfer system is flawed and everybody knows it, so why is it only now that
constructive action is being taken?
The biggest problem faced by the current system is the widespread tapping-up of players and the
lack of either a deterrent or preventative measures.
Ollie, I like you a lot. Among other positive qualities, you can put sentences together in more
than just one way, which makes you instantly more readable than 99% of soccer bloggers plying their
trade to an American audience. But today's post on Adebayor?
So if the Devil has the best tunes, does he have the best footballers?
With Fabio Capello demanding a video games room for England's World Cup squad, OTP suggests what it
should be stocked with. 1. Joleon Lescott - Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? 2. Glen Johnson - Grand
Theft Toilet Seat Auto 3. Steven Gerrard - Street Fighter 4. Wayne Rooney - Shrek 5. Ashley Cole -
Cashley Bandicoot 6.
This was written by a City fan about Wayne Rooney: I sit there awaiting with baited breath
for him to receive a beautiful through ball that he then latches onto, and promptly puts it in the
back of the opposing net.
The insanity of an Ingerlurnd fan. One week they will come to Old Trafford and chant "you fat
bastard!
Come the revolution, the Premier League will be no more – of that you can be certain. As clubs
attempt to regain control of their upwardly spiralling finances, the top flight will break up into
smaller regionalised leagues, thereby reinforcing the weakening notion of local derbies and local
rivalries.
A few weekend injuries to be aware of as we begin an action packed mid-week of European fixtures...
- Arsenal's injury woes continue as Denilson is out for two months with a back injury. This means
more playing time in defensive midfled for the likes of "yellow card machine" Song and "can't
finish any of my chances" Diaby.
Well if the rumours are true Ashley Cole is the next key player at Chelsea to sign a new deal after
John Terry and Didier Drogba. This is fantastic news as far as I am concerned as after a shaky
start to his Chelsea career and all the stories about Jose' trying to get him to the Bridge in the
first place, and subsequent fines, he has bedded in, worked hard and is now one of our most
consistent
A few weeks ago, I asked you which Chelsea player winds you up most. You voted as follows: 1.
Didier Drogba 2. Michael Ballack 3. Ashley Cole Can't argue with that....
Chelsea have submitted their 25 man squad list for this season's group stages of the Champions
League. The 25 players listed are:Petr Cech, Branislav Ivanovic, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien,
Ricardo Carvalho, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, John Mikel Obi, Michael Ballack, Florent
Malouda, Jose Bosingwa, Yury Zhirkov, Deco, Saloman Kalou, Ross Turnbull, Daniel Sturridge, John
Terry, Alex,
Its been reported in one the British Newspapers today that Peter Kenyon thinks that with the
current squad we have along with our new signings that we can with everything this season. He
said:"I think there's been alot of emphasis around football on transfers, but we've got the players
we wanted. We've been quiet!
Croatia coach Slaven Bilic has claimed he knows England's weaknesses here are the three areas
where we think Fabio Capello's side may be vulnerable.

1. England's playing style puts too much strain at the back
Fabio Capello was right to back Glen Johnson after his defender was on the receiving end of much
criticism after the 2-1 win over Slovenia.
I described my feelings for the Togalese ex Gunner as intense dislike in earlier blogs. Now
after today's performance I actually think that I have a deep loathing for him which in time may
exceed that which I have for Ashley Cole. I have not seen anything other than a excerpts of the
game, I listened to the match commentary, and if what is being suggested is half true, then my
loathing may turn to hatred.
"Is this where I'm supposed to point?"
Whatever happened to football's good, clean heroes? I wrote a 'Top 10 Popular Premier League
Players' list in August, and really struggled to come up with XI players I could warm to.
These days, it seems we just don't like to like our footballers very much; heroes have been overrun
by villains.
I went to the game on Saturday and decided to post some thoughts on the game as a travelling
Gooner; there is only one place to start. Adebayor has now become the most hated figure amongst
Arsenal fans, even more so than Ashley Cole. When Adebayor turned towards the Arsenal fans before
his 90 yard gallop, he made himself enemy no.
Our second visit to Manchester has resulted in yet another undeserved defeat. The chances were
there, the woodwork hit once again by van Persie, certain goal cleared off the line and once again
another blatant penalty missed by the referee. The performances are there from the team, the
chances are being created, what we are missing is that little bit of luck that is required.
Big Story
Chelsea FC have announced chief executive Peter Kenyon will be stepping down
October 31st while staying on as a non-executive director and liaison to both UEFA and the European
Clubs' Association committees. As it stands this morning, the most likely explanation for
Kenyon's resignation will be the Gael Kakuta affair—the Lens youngster whom Chelsea encouraged to
break contract with the French club, leading to a two transfer window ban for CFC—although there
were likely more important factors which led to today's announcement.
What a looong weekend. But we've gone ahead through Cashley! Keep me posted, people.
