Well, Manchester United announced their purchase of a certain Ashley Young today- hopefully
that'll be enough to keep their grimy paws off Nasri. Chelsea, on the other hand, made a different
sort of signing- but a much more ominous one in regards to the rest of the league. Andre
Villas-Boas, the prodigious 33 year old and now ex Europa League winning manager of Porto, has
joined the Blues and suddenly Chelsea look like favorites to win everything and anything in sight-
even the Emirates Cup, and they're not even participating in it!
In The Stands can reveal that Manchester United have completed the signing of
Ashley Young from Aston Villa for £20million.
The 25 year-old winger passed a medical in Manchester on Thursday and has put pen to paper in a
four year deal.
Young joins highly-rated Blackburn youngster Phil Jones, who made the switch to the Theatre of
Dreams having finalized a £16.
It will come as no surprise to Newcastle United fans that the club is now being strongly linked
with another midfielder with French connections, although Arsenal's alleged interest in Joey Barton
may be a little more surprising. I am most disappointed to find we haven't signed any new players
yet today.
Ashley Young heads to Manchester United but Phil Jones deal stalls | Football | The Guardian
Manchester United will officially sign Ashley Young when the Aston Villa forward returns from
holiday later this month but their capture of Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers has been delayed by
a dispute over the defender's transfer fee.
England star Ashley Young yesterday called off his wedding - just two days before the £200,000

In which pea-headed wing weakling Ashley Young gives his first interview as a Manchester United
player after signing on a five-year deal last night.
Interesting that Ash says he's going to miss the Villa manager, especially the current one has
only been there for a couple of days.
Becoming a new addition at Manchester United surely brings a pressure for any players including
for the Red Devils' latest signing, Ashley Young, who is well aware at the competition he will get
there just to secure a starting spot.
However, just like many ambitious talents, instead of dropping his confidence, the tough task
that Young will face at Old Trafford is being seen as a big challenge by the winger that will
improve his quality even more.
It's been relatively quiet at Broadhall Way so far this summer. Not that much has happened since
we beat Torquay at Old Trafford that we didn't think was going to happen this summer anyway. I'm
going to attempt to round-up all the news since then and get back to the normal updates as we
approach pre-season.
Michael Boxell is one of the many left on the boards for the Supplemental Draft tomorrow.
No, no, I won't be doing a mock draft for the Supplemental draft which takes place tomorrow.
That's just silly now. What isn't as silly is teams filling out the rest of their rosters to make
way for the return of the MLS Reserve division with this draft.
Ashley Young fits the profile of most of Manchester United's recent big-money purchases. He is
young and proven in the Premier League, much like Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia, Dimitar
Berbatov, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones were when they arrived at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson
likes to buy players before they reach their peak, in contrast to Chelsea, who buy big names at
their peak.
I published a quick article earlier that caused a bit of a stir. Maybe I should explain my
thinking a little more..
The league champions have brought in a very good player in Ashley Young - a player Arsenal had
been keeping an eye on all season they have also brought in a fantastic young defensive player in
Phil Jones.
Frank Arnesen's first task this summer will be to try to keep Eljero Elia from Liverpool's clutches
- as the Hamburg winger is back on their radar.
Arnesen left Chelsea to take up a consultancy role with the Bundesliga side this summer and he is
keen on taking a few Blues youngsters with him to Germany.
According to the Daily Star, Premier League champions Manchester United are just "48
hours" away from clinching the signing of Ashley Young. Young has just one season left on his
contract with Aston Villa, and according to the report the Red Devils will pay nearly £20 million
for his services.
Latest Transfer betting odds The one thing Manchester United do not need right now is another
winger and yet if we believe the latest transfer rumours Ashley Young could be heading to Old
Trafford. The Villa winger has been strongly linked to several clubs including Liverpool, but
reports claim United are the favourites to capture the England player in a reported £16m move.
Manchester United are set to sign Aston Villa's Ashley Young before he leaves for holiday this
weekend and the in-form England international is surely the major intra-league transfer of the
Premier League summer thus far. And while there is ... Continue reading →

Why Mark Hughes was wrong to leave Fulham - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
For the second season in succession, Fulham find themselves in the difficult situation of
searching for a new manager through no volition of their own. Little more than eleven months after
Roy Hodgson left the club for his ill-fated stint at the helm of Liverpool, Mark Hughes has decided
to activate a clause in his contract meaning that he will depart at the end of the month.
Jordan Henderson, formerly of Sunderland and—assuming a successful medical and the midfielder
agreeing to terms—will become the latest player to join Liverpool Football Club later today.
David N'Gog, Liverpool's promising striker on the fringes of the first team who originally arrived

According to Rob Parrish at Sky Sports News, Manchester United have agreed to
terms with Aston Villa youngster Ashley Young. It is reported
that Young will complete his move to United when he returns from holiday.
I think alot of us are sitting here waiting as the days go by for Chelsea to pull their fingers out
and sort out the manager sooner rather than later. We are seeing the likes of United, Liverpool and
City making moves in the transfer market and as some of you have said on my blog "we are getting
left behind!
Manchester United and Liverpool have already made a big start to their summer spending with the
signings of Phil Jones £20 million Ashley Young £15M and Liverpool buying Jordan Henderson £20M.
This came on the day that we bought our first signing- no not a big name player but a 19 year old
from Charlton for £1 million.

After spending last week away on his holibobs, Ashley Young is now on the very cusp of
completing a move to Manchester United after reportedly passing a medical at Carrington
yesterday.
The PA reckon that Young agreed personal terms with United a fortnight or so ago and will now
seal the five-year deal after Aston Villa agreed a £15(ish) million fee with the Premier League
champions over the weekend.

Aston Villa winger Ashley young has finalized his move to Manchester United in a five year deal
believed to be worth around £17 million. The 25-year-old passed his medical at United's training
ground on Thursday before putting pen to paper to sign for the reigning Premier League champions.
Manchester United announced Thursday that "it has reached agreement with Aston Villa for the
transfer of Ashley Young. The player passed a medical in Manchester and has agreed a five-year
contract."
Young made 193 appearances and scored 39 times for Aston Villa after joining them from Watford
in January 2007.
Arsene Wenger may well be the Premier League manager who is most often associated with the
development of players and the rebuilding of squads, but it is Sir Alex Ferguson who has been more
impressive at cutting the chaff from his squad and integrating young talent into his side in order
to give it a boost and keep it able to fight consistently at the top of the Premier League, more
often than not fighting successfully in a manner that brings with it trophies and glory.

It's not often we feature action from the Blue Square Premier such is our remit here on Pies,

Submitted for your perusal is Jason Walker's sweet sweet goal for York City against Grimsby at

followed by a sublime, post-clipping overhead kick.
Liverpool are believed to be interested in acquiring the services of Newcastle United striker Andy
Carroll as a replacement for Fernando Torres, who has been widely reported to be on the verge of
joining Chelsea.
According to The Sun, the Reds will move in on the young forward with a £30 million bid and a
triple-your-wages offer to prise him away from the clutches of the Tyneside outfit.

The Fire's practice session on Saturday looked a bit lighter for good reason. Several players

When I read that Kenny Dalglish's top transfer targets this summer are Ashley Young, Matt Jarvis,
Gary Cahill and Charlie Adam, I feel optimistic for Liverpool.
A strong core of British players didn't do Kenny any harm at Blackburn, and even at a combined
£50million this quartet would be good business.

How funny was that, watching England scrape a 2-2 draw against the Swiss yesterday? Dreadful
defending by England to give away two free kicks Scott Parker and Frank Lampard obliged - that
were neatly converted when the England centre-backs failed to do their jobs and allowed Switzerland
two goals inside 35 minutes.
