Following his goal scoring debut for new side Persisam, Thai international Pipat Tonkanya will be
back in action this afternoon as his side take on Persela Lamongan at the Surajaya Stadium in East
Java.
Persela are a strong team at home and are currently unbeaten in the ISL but after Pipat and company
deflated Persijap's goal free defence at the weekend, the Borneo Eagles will go into the game full
of optimism.

Some Thai politician has suggested that ASEAN bid formally for the World Cup in 2018. Christ, the
things these people do for a few inches. Column inches I meant.
First, there is no way on this earth 10 nations can host a World Cup. Second there is no way ASEAN
can agree on anything long enough to host anything beyond a gob fest for other politicians.

So the girls took on Thailand in the final of the ASEAN under-16 girls final in Myanmar, and though
it's not up on the FFA website yet, you can read all about it here on the ASEAN website.
Australia ended up winning 8-0, but the scoreline doesn't reflect that it was pretty close. Up
until the 67th minute, it was 2-0, but Sam Kerr then scored and it seemingly opened up the
floodgates.

Brunei is a tiny dot, well two dots actually, on the world's surface. It's a relatively harmless
little place that plods along in it's own sweet little way usually without getting pissed. It's not
often the country or anyone from the country makes any ripples anywhere. A big news story there is
a maid being sacked for cutting her toenails while watching imported soap operas.

THE GOOD old days of the Lions taking on their neighbours across the Causeway in the Malaysia Cup
may never be relived, but there are plans in the pipeline to revive the rivalry on a regular
basis.
The Young Lions were invited to take part in the Malaysian FA Cup in 2006, where they qualified for
the semi-finals.

TheĀ Asian Football Confederation (AFC) governs the footballing community of Asia and also now
includes Australia, but it doesn't include a number of Asian (or part-Asian) countries, who are
part of UEFA. The headquarters are located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The AFC was formed in 1954 (believe it or not on the sidelines of a game), by Afghanistan,
Burma, Republic of China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea Republic, Pakistan,
Philippines, Singapore & Vietnam.

June 1 sees the start of the Singapore League Cup (SLC) with the 12 members of the SLeague facing
off against each other for the chance of some silverware.
Woodlands Wellington won the first edition of this trophy in 2007 while last year Gombak United
collected it.
This season sees some changes with the competition beginning with a group format, replacing the
knock out manner of earlier years.
