I stumbled across this story when catching up on all the latest football news and thought i
would highlight here not because it is one of the biggest transfer stories on this last day of the
transfer window, but rather because of its almost near obscurity.
Frankly, speaking , i thought Toni had retired from the game so imagine my shock when i read
that he had actually been with Juventus all this time.

Like a cross between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nicklas Bendtner, Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is very
fond of his own abilities. There were questions as to whether he would play in Ghana's African Cup
of Nations match against Mali after sustaining an injury in training on Thursday, but he did start
and scored off a free kick in his side's 2-0 win.
Group D at the ACN is at a knife's edge as it heads to the last group match with Ghana, Guinea,
and Mali in contention for the two spots to the knock off stage. The only one out is Botswana.
Yesterday, the Black Stars got the better of Mali as Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland could have done with
his finishing skills today against Boro) scored his first goal and Anthony Ayew added another.
Asamoah Gyan's superb free-kick helped Ghana into the African Nations Cup quarter-finals, as
they beat Mali 2-0 today. Andre Ayew scored their second securing their last 16 spot.
Ghana 1-0 Botswana by goalsarena2012
Ghana made a jittery start to their ACN campaign overcoming a plucky Botswana through John
Mensah's 25th minute goal. The Black Stars then had to endure without Mensah who was sent off in
the 66th minute for his foul on Jerome Ramatlhakwane.
Goran Stevanovic's squad were at full strength minus Kevin Prince Boateng with World Cup
standouts Asamoah Gyan, Andrew Ayew, and Sulley Muntari present.
Prior to Bob Bradley being appointed as its head coach, Egypt failed to qualify for the 2012
Africa Cup of Nations. The Pharoahs' failure is the rest of Africa's success, as for the first
time in six years a new champion will be crowned.
The 28th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is set to get underway on Saturday, with 16 teams
competing in the host nations of Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

When Asamoah Gyan arrived at Sunderland for a club record £13 million fee, it seemed like the
dawn of a new era for both club and player. However, the new era has become true only in the case
of the player, while Sunderland are back where they were under Roy Keane – struggling at the
wrong end of the table.
Despite admitting his admiration for new manager Martin O'Neill, Asamoah Gyan has outlined his
reluctance to return to Sunderland, perhaps even after his loan spell with Middle Eastern outfit Al
Ain has finished.
Ghanaian goalscorer Gyan – who has netted 27 times in 54 matches for the Black Stars – is in
the United Arab Emirates as a result of a deal struck back in September and, although rumours to
the contrary have circulated this week, the 26 year-old ruled out a return to Wearside this
January.

African Cup of Nations 2012: New Ghana Home Kit is a post from: Just Football
On Monday, at a lavish launch party at the Design Museum in London, PUMA unveiled the 2012
football kits for their 10 partnered African National football teams. Of course Just
Football was there doing its bit to represent African football and we were lucky enough to
mingle, sit down and chat with some of the top players on the continent.

Last week we saw a bizarre transfer when Al-Ain announced that they will be signing Asamoah Gyan
on a one year loan at ridiculous wages. Gyan obviously took the option. Many questioned the move,
accusing him of being a money grabber, accusing him of making a terrible move with respect to his
career and what not.
All does not appear to be well at Sunderland. The shock departure of Asamoah Gyan this week rounded
off what has been a horrible first few weeks for Steve Bruce and all involved at the Stadium of
Light. This has ...

I'm Strictly convinced the other Brucie mustn't be sacked
There's something wrong at Sunderland but I don't think it's my old gaffer Steve Bruce. He is
one of the game's best people, and that rare manager who doesn't just gee you up when things are
going badly but who takes the time to praise you when you're doing well.
I'm not sure how this works outside of the transfer window, but Asamoah Gyan has left Sunderland.
From Sunderland's official website: Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is set to join United Arab
Emirates side Al-Ain on loan. Officials from Al-Ain made contact with Sunderland earlier in the
week with a view to signing the player on a permanent deal.

Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan has had a big problem with "parasites" for the last six months,
that's according to Black Cats' boss Steve Bruce. However, those of you hoping to see the Ghana
striker on an edition of Celebrity Embarrassing Bodies (a series that really should exist) will be
disappointed.
Brazil v Ghana All eyes on the Selecao - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
It is the nature of modern football that in any match involving Brazil, the spotlight rests
solely on their ambitions for their next title.
This time, as hosts of the next World Cup, they have only friendlies (and the Confederations
Cup) to fine-tune their preparations in the next 3 years and as such, every friendly will be an
examination of Brazil's credentials to lift the World Cup on their home soil.

Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson spoils party for lacklustre Liverpool
The Liverpool fans arrived for the new season full of eager anticipation, and were in good voice
when Luis Suárez gave them an early lead, but Sunderland dug deep and came away with a point,
courtesy of debutant Sebastian Larsson's spectacular volleyed equaliser.
Quick Reminder, Real Life What started brightly with a forward line of DBent, Gyan, and Campbell
came closer to the relegation zone than anyone who watched the first half of the season or looked
at the final standings would ever have guessed. February, March, and the first half of April were
an unmitigated disaster with the club earning exactly 1 point between Feb 1 and April 16.
According to the Daily Star, Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is lining up a move for
wantaway Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar. The Croatian has been unsettled at White Hart Lane for
months now, and Bruce is reportedly aiming to sign the midfielder before this weekend's opener.
The report also indicated that the move could be a season-long loan, which would give Kranjcar
the chance to impress before securing a long-term move.

The name of Asamoah Gyan keeps cropping up in connection with a move to White Hart Lane and the
latest rumour suggests that Spurs would be prepared to offer £5m plus Jermain Defoe in an attempt
to secure the Ghanaian international.
It seems in some quarters that Spurs fans believe this to be an attractive deal but is it
really?
I've already gone on record in thinking that NUFC are among the mid-table clubs that have done very
well for themselves thus far. They've gone from highly volatile and a bit long in the tooth to
more solid if perhaps a little less potentially spectacular. West Brom has quietly solidified
themselves in the back with some solid acquisitions as well.
Sunderland have cooled their interest in Liverpool's David Ngog after completing the signing of
Connor Wickham, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The French striker was reported to have been a transfer target for manager Steve Bruce and was
originally considered part of the deal that took Jordan Henderson to Anfield.

When I first read the rumours this morning that Sunderland had circulated an email around the
Premier League to tell all and sundry that striker Asamoah Gyan had been put up for sale, my
bullshit meter went into the red and I had an inkling deep down in my waters that it would only be
a matter of time before they were comprehensively rubbished.

Fox in the inbox Sunderland have alerted several of their Premier League rivals that striker

If Clint Dempsey is to remain at Fulham next season, his manager will be Martin Jol.
The former Tottenham, Hamburg and Ajax coach was hired by Fulham to replace Mark Hughes on
Tuesday, making him the third coach in as many seasons at Craven Cottage.
Jol did not coach this past season, a year after stepping down from Ajax, and he last coached in
the Premier League in 2007 with Spurs.
