Match Of The Day Highlights
1-0 Robin Van Persie
2-0 Samir Nasri
3-0 Own Goal, Roger Johnson
Arsenal and Liverpool are squaring up to battle it out over German centre-back Per Mertesacker. The
Metro are reporting that an £8.5 million offer has been tabled by Arsenal for the Werder Bremen
favourite and German international and Liverpool are hot on their tail and keen to test Bremen's
resolve with a more attractive offer as [.
The little Russian forward Andrei Arshavin has not looked like his heart is at Arsenal for some
time now, and he is rarely given a start by Wenger except in the underperforming Gunners
"second-string" games. Considering that just two years ago he was considered the biggest star in
Russia (never mind Zenit!
According to Arsene Wenger, Andrey Arshavin has been suffering from a 'blip' in form but will be
back to his best sooner rather than later. Indeed, the boss reckons he is already on his way back
but just lacking in confidence. Despite his torrid form he has still contributed a lot to the
team this season with seven [.
By Ulysse Pasquier, writing from Montreal
Arsenal fans have been increasingly frustrated with the duo's performances in the recent weeks,
especially following their important involvement in the Gunners' two-game cup ties against
lower-league clubs Leeds and Ipswich.
For the vast majority of this season I've been damning Gael Clichy from the pit of my stomach
all the way to Hades for his ludicrous interpretation of how to play at left back.
Constantly out of position, easily beaten by anyone who runs at him, never chasing down a ball
or closing down a man, I've held him personally responsible for a number of the goals that Arsenal
have conceded thus far this season.
Andrey Arshavin may not have hit the heights he was reaching on a regular basis during his first
season at the Emirates in recent weeks and months, but he's still an extremely valuable asset for
the club and a very popular figure with the Arsenal faithful. The Russian playmaker has seen his
efforts in midfield largely overshadowed this season by the stellar form of Samir Nasri, who has
been the Gunners' star man both in Premier League matches and in European competition, but remains
a key weapon in Arsene Wenger's artillery.

Very unlucky game for Arsenal. We deserved to win but it appears the luck was with Joe Hart and
his posts, check out the more eventful highlights than you would think below:

Our second string team weren't up to it; The midfield did not function properly with the Alex
Song and Denilson partnership failing in the centre and Tomas Rosicky appears to have never
regained his spark, he had before his injury woes.
The Russian attacker Andrei Arshavin has looked out of sorts all season, and although he has scored
a few goals (and quite a few assists as well) he has rarely looked animated in games except for
short periods. The flashes of brilliance that the Arsenal fans expected to see last season are
rarely seen this [.
Welcome to another day of Arsenal transfer rumours, surprisingly the rumour mill is not running at
full whack yet, still time though. It says a lot that a lot of fans are not expecting us to sign a
player, even after the manager has been a lot more forthcoming regarding transfers recently. Today
he said: "Unfortunately I [.
IPSWICH, England Tamas Priskin fired Championship strugglers Ipswich to a deserved win over a
strong Arsenal side in Wednesday night's Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Portman Road. The
Tractors boys had been thrashed 7-0 at Chelsea in their FA Cup third-round tie on Saturday after
axing Roy Keane.

The other day I made a funny image about Arshavin and his goal face. I said it made him look
like he was constipated. Loyal readers commented that generally speaking I was a terrible human
being for that. In response, over a twitter conversation with arseblogger, I ended up joking about
making Arhsavin riding a unicorn, as though that would make Arsenal supporters happy.
Today Arsene Wenger held his pre-match press conference and he discussed the possibility of signing
a defender, the future of useless keeper Almunia and the future of Andrey Arshavin. We all know I
want a new defender, a proper defender and no quick-fit half cop center-back like Silvestre or
Squillaci however it seems this is [.

LEEDS, England — Samir Nasri helped Arsenal overcome a potentially tricky FA Cup third round
replay as Arsene Wenger's side defeated Leeds 3-1 on Wednesday to book a fourth round date with
Huddersfield. After being held 1-1 by Simon Grayson's Championship team at the Emirates 11 days
earlier and losing to Ipswich in the League [.
Leeds Utd 1-3 Arsenal
A thoroughly satisfying evening in Yorkshire. With memories of the preceding Leeds and Ipswich
ties still fresh, I said to @feverpitch before the game started last night that we'd know which
Arsenal was present within five minutes of the whistle. Rather neatly, exactly five minutes had
elapsed when Arshavin and Chamakh ping-ponged the ball through to the waltzing Nasri, who scuttled
past a couple of players and sunk one into the bottom right corner.
Coming off the back of two highly satisfying away wins the Arsenal now have a run of six home
games out of the next seven.
At our last home game great joy was had by ITV's cameramen in capturing the negative reactions
of the Ashburton Grove support to our number 23's struggles to impose himself on the game.
I nearly actually spluttered my cornflakes all over the screen this morning when I can across the
most ridiculous Arsenal rumour ever invented. Of course it's from the News of the World... The
story goes that Andrei Arshavin is very unhappy at Arsenal, and his form has dropped even further
since he has been relegated to [.
LONDON, England Arsenal secured their place in the League Cup final after sweeping aside Ipswich
with a 3-0 win in the semi-final second leg at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. Ipswich had an
upset in their sights when the Championship side reached half-time at 0-0, but second half goals
from Nicklas Bendtner, Laurent Koscielny [.
The little Russian genius has seemed very out-of-sorts this season, and has been roundly criticed
by the Arsenal fans. Arsene Wenger has relegated him to his second string side, and despite the
occasional spark of his old form, he has looked listless and uninterested. Arshavin himself has
tried to explain the problem, but he is not [.
