A good game from an extremely young side yesterday in attack but my gosh they do need to work
at the defence. Some of it was appalling but if they play like that we will surely win matches in
the future.
The Motd Highlights
We are not liable for these highlights because we do not own them.
Having provided possible photos of the 2009/2010 Arsenal away kit last week, we are now certain
in saying that midnight blue will be our away colours for next season after the kit was shown on
the club's official website.
More photos can be found here.
Friendly match: Barnet FC vs Arsenal FC 2:2. Match highlights.
Goals from: Arshavin and Barazite
Ivory Coast International Yaya Toure may leave Barcelona but if he does, it will not be to join
Arsenal. His agent, Dmitri Seluk, said:
There are many teams interested in Toure. He will not go to Arsenal because he has better offers
and nor will he go to Germany, but his future could be in Italy or in England.

So many optimism before the game, so many positive comments on our young players coming of age.
But we had to wait for today to judge and unfortunately, many will be asking the same questions
which were asked last season.
Until the 60th minute, you can say we didn't deserve to lose as we could have easily been 0-2
up, but if Almunia decides to kill all the good that was done since then, I'm afraid questions
should be asked on our players and not on the referee or Rooney.
FC Zurich's 15-year old Martin Angha was signed by Arsenal and will join the club in January
2010, according to reports. 20 Minuten reports how the North London club made contact with the
youngster in 2007, after which the player was reported as saying:
I trained there once with the under-19 side.
I am sorry but this is the best article i have seen for ages. Tony Atwwod from Untold Arsenal
(one of the best Arsenal blogs around, okay maybe he is THE best) wrote this, and i love him for
it!
Most newspapers have editorial conferences where the leading planners in the paper sit
around a big table and argue about the main stories and features of the next edition.
Andrey Arshavin has revealed how his foot looks like it was cut by 'a knife' in a tackle by
Blackburn's Andre Ooijer. The blow took the gloss off his debut goal for Arsenal in their 4-0
Barclays Premier League win on Saturday. Arshavin is now likely to miss Tuesday's FA Cup clash with
Hull after requiring [.
Andrei Arshavin signs - and Zenit manager Advocaat says Arsenal have a new sensation Full Article
Andrei Arshavin was last night hailed as a "sensational signing" and the biggest bargain
of the January transfer window. Zenit St Petersburg boss Dick Advocaat believes Arsenal have pulled
off a great deal after buying the 27-year-old for £10million.
Here I am, 24 days after my last part of last's season review, putting down some thoughts about
all the news we read about in the last month. I didn't have much to write about lately so I
preferred to stay quiet and let the rest of the team update you guys with news and transfer
rumours. But today, I want to share some thoughts with you, plenty of them actually.
Tactics
Well Arsene Wenger seems keen on the 4-3-3 formation and its proving to be a new source of
creativity for the young lads. They have more room to venture and take responsibilities as we saw
in this game.
Song
Mesmerising throughout the game, played just in front of the back four and showed some good
mature touches.
The club currently has five international strikers plus two more forwards who will be more
comfortable playing as a striker. Is it time we re-assessed our strike force and attacking
midfielders and played players in their rightful positions?
Carlos Vela will develop into a good striker, whether he becomes a scoring
sensation in the Premier League is questionable.
It's the first clean sheet of our Premiership season and it's a very comfortable win the one
registered this afternoon at the Emirates, but unfortunately, there's still a question or two which
will be asked in the coming days.
Many will ask how come Fabregas didn't celebrate the fourth goal, is it an injury or something
else?
After confirmation from his agent that Arsene Wenger "likes the look of the player," it
is now official that Arsenal are in talks with Zenit St. Petersburg over the transfer of Andrei
Arshavin. A Zenit official said: We have been in discussion with Arsenal now for some time. They
are hoping that a deal will be [.
Having won the treble in style, Barcelona are all-over the headlines, not just for having won
things but of course, for the way they did it. No ugly football, no defending after taking the
lead, just nice passing and nice football.
Now to be honest, the Spaniards have ALWAYS put on show this type of football game and when they
had coaches who wanted to change that, they got fired straight away, so to those who love Wenger no
matter what, no, he's not the only coach who can teach his players to play like that.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed his intention is not to sell any of his players but rather
to bring two new players to strengthen the squad.
He said:
We lost Hleb and Flamini last summer and we have had to rebuild.
But we have done that now and the future looks bright.
New Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini declared there is no space for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in
his side as Marca reports Wenger may make an offer for the Dutchman to replace Adebayor:

Former Arsenal captain Kolo Toure declared he was hoping to end his career with the North London
club but a number of problems, namely another Arsenal, forced him out. The Ivory Coast
International preferred not to ...
1. The title race is not really back on. Manchester United still have a game in hand and too much
for Liverpool in the long-run. 2. Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping that was just the worst European
hangover ever. Liverpool may have benefited from the extra day of rest, but surely you
shouldn#8217;t be too [.
Feyenoord's Luc Castaignos is set to make a move to Arsenal, provided the North London club
accepts to loan him out to the Dutch club for one year.
Castaignos' agent Arie Treffers told Sportweek:
Luc needs to develop at his own pace. For this reason he will be best served by remaining
here.
Arsenal target Edin Dzeko will only leave German side Wolfsburg to join Italian giants A.C.
Milan. Speaking to Bild, the player said:
My dream is Milan, which everyone knows, but I am a VfL player. However, no ones knows what will
happen in 20 days. Maybe I will join up with Wolfsburg for pre-season or maybe I will be in
Milan.
There is not much to say about this amazing start to the season. Three wins out of three, twelve
goals scored and players who were not convincing last season seem to have turned into true
champions. Of course, the tough ones are yet to come, but so far, so good from the Gunners.
I am still not entirely convinced by the forward line, seems as if they are not clicking the way
they want to, but I will expand on that tomorrow in my day after thoughts since as always, I will
just limit myself to player ratings for now.
He's one of the best players for Arsenal this season. With eight goals scored already, Dutchman
Robin van Persie is flying high and is enjoying every second of it. Speaking to the Official
Matchday Programme, the ...
The Game Finally! There was a moment where I thought this was going to end 1-1 but the lads were
brave enough to hold on and glad to see the strikers helping out in defence when we ...
Manchester City away from home last season was when we really hit the bottom and you would
expect to see changes and lessons learned after that.
Unfortunately, not for us. Same old players, same old mistakes, same old tactics and same old
players out of position. I wish I could say I don't know why Nicklas Bendtner, who clearly said he
hates to play on the wing and did so well as a central striker for Denmark was played on the right,
but I have the answer.
Lady luck is back, it seems. A lot of questions will be asked after last night's performance,
starting with why on earth seven, eight, maybe more highly-paid professional footballers decide to
approach a Champions League game with such an uninterested approach.
I don't know, it seemed many didn't want to travel to Belgium or maybe thought that wasting time
against such a weak team was not in their plans.
Carlos Vela ensured Arsenal's youngsters enjoyed a smooth passage into the League Cup fourth
round as his live-wire display inspired a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.
Goals:
Van Persie, Diaby and Arshavin
As we head closer to Arsenal's Monday deadline, there is no sign of the Russian joining
Arsenal. Znit are sticking to their guns and demanding £20m, Arsenal have offered
£12m plus £3m. We now have an impasse. The player wants to join Arsenal, Arsenal
want the player and Zenit want the transfer to go through.
Today is Arsenal's self imposed deadline for something to happen in the Andrei Arshavin transfer
deal. Follow along with me as I obsessively hit "refresh" in my Google Reader, hoping for
a nibble of fact in this deal. 6:10 am ZOMG HAVE YOU HEARD??? Charlie N'Zogbia, who has been
angling for a transfer to Arsenal [.
Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder, linked with a possible move to Arsenal by a number of
gossip columns, told As how he will not leave the Spanish club.
He said:
I have no intention of leaving Real Madrid. Nobody called me to speak about that and what I want
to do is stay at Madrid because I battled hard to join this club and being successful in this shirt
is my aim.
Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport how it is a
good thing to be linked with important European clubs but again declared he's happy with
Fiorentina.
He said:
Obviously it is a good thing that great clubs are interested, as it shows that I worked
well.
As I sat down to write something on the blog two hours ago, my thoughts immediately went to John
Hartson, wondering how come many preferred to talk about Adebayor and his possible Manchester City
future.
And I just couldn't help asking myself where all this Adebayor hatred is coming from. Last week,
both Arsene Wenger and Adebayor's agent Stephane Courbis said the player will stay at Arsenal.
Arsenal started life after Adebayor with a cruising victory against SC Columbia after the home
side took a shocking lead through an Almunia blunder.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger provided a complete injury status on his players ahead of
tomorrow's game.
The Frenchman told Arsenal TV Online how key players will be missing for the away game against
Everton although new-signing Thomas Vermaelen should be fit to start.
He said:
We have some problems.
Admit it. You never thought our season would kick off with such a scintillating display, or did
you? I am of course thrilled for what we've witnessed this afternoon and I just don't know where to
start from in terms of positive notes about the game.
As I have so much to say but don't want the article to be 25 pages long, I will limit myself to
one comment and player ratings today as I will go deeper into the match in tomorrow's match-after
thoughts.
