Two different gestures, two similar outcomes.
Last week, it was Thierry Henry showing his hand to send Ireland plunging out of the World Cup
and sending millions into a meltdown. FIFA is now considering a World Cup ban for his "unsporting
conduct."
Today it was Arsene Wenger not showing his hand that had Mark Hughes frothing in the mouth.
Catch me a clue. Where was Wenger being small minded about Didier Drogba as claimed by The
Guardian's Kevin McCarra ? He was not overly effusive and why should he be? His team got beaten.
But he was not belittling Drogba. Far from it.
" You would be surprised by the number of balls he touched today.
If he comes on board, will Vieira go to Man Utd?
The January transfer will be a busy one for Arsenal. That is because Wenger has no choice.
Against Chelsea and Sunderland, Carlos Vela and Eduardo proved they are not the answers to RVP and
Bendtner.
So let the rumour mill begin.
Theo Walcott's infernal hamstring injury has resurfaced again. He is likely to miss the Stoke
City match.
Wenger was planning to utilize him as a centerforward with a long term view to making that
change permanent. But he does not want to rush him with his match fitness in doubt. The Stoke City
game is shaping up to be extremely important in stopping the narrative of a team suddenly gone off
the tracks and a manager increasingly petulant of lesser mortals.
This is not a good sign. First, Tomas Rosicky practically wrote of our chances. Now it is
Arshavin who can never be accused of holding back.
"Had we possessed a tall player, things would have been better for us, especially in attack. We
had nobody capable of holding up the ball. What can we, and must we, change?
Amy Lawrence weighs in on the hypocrisy of English mores and Wenger decries the mentality of
awarding the ceremonial instead of the courtesy. It is a puritanical trait and a peculiarly English
one.
Shake your hand is like a get out of jail free card. Those four letter words can all be taken
care of at the end of the match with a perfunctory hand gesture.

Arsene Wenger made sure Tony Pulis was the recipient of a lingering handshake. It was left to
Arshavin to stoke the embers. The little Russian turned it on. Scoring one and creating countless
other chances including Aaron Ramsey's second half goal.
Oscar Cardozo is a "direct style" striker
Cesc talks about a direct style as sometimes the best way to go about scoring goals.
"An average team that has the best striker in the world can always do something and Didier
Drogba makes all the difference to them."
The problem is who?
