Liverpool's Summer 2012 Transfer Targets - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Domestically, Liverpool have had a strange season. Their league form has been nothing short of
terrible, however, their performances in the cups have been extremely impressive.
Next season Dalglish (providing he remains in charge) will no doubt look to improve the core of
the Liverpool team, allowing them to challenge for a top four position.
It started out as a joyful collaboration between Arsene Wenger and Roy Hodgson. Then Andrey
Arshavin joined on vocals. Now the Wenger Boys are getting mighty crowded. Kenny Dalglish will now
be playing bongos and Sir Alex Ferguson is a Bez-type figure. Great work from RedCafe poster Olly.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised the versatility and professionalism of Spanish midfielder
Mikel Arteta, who was signed from Everton in a £10 million deal on the transfer deadline day last
summer.
Arteta's consistency has been impressive throughout the Gunners' roller-coaster season and on
the evening of the Spaniard's return to Goodison Park to face the Toffees, Wenger has reflected
proudly on signing the Spaniard, who will turn 30 on Monday.
Aaron Ramsey's cameo appearance in our "class versus cash" victory over Abu Dhabi Oil Inc was
not his greatest moment in an Arsenal shirt.
He had slotted in pretty well after coming on in the 78th minute to replace Yossi "Busy Bee"
Benayoun.
But what we will all remember is the moment at the death where he was through on goal with a
chance to make it 2-0 and with Oxlade-Chamberlain and van Persie waiting in the middle to side foot
the ball into an empty net.
Thanks for coming Thierry So Thierry Henry is on his way back to Arsenal. Great (yawn). Maybe Henry
and David Beckham can share a row in first class on their way back to jolly ol' England.
Personally, makes me no never mind whether Henry returns to the Gunners. It's just the symptom of
bigger issues on both sides of the pond.
Manchester United inflicted the heaviest defeat in Arsene Wenger's reign as Arsenal boss when they
smashed the hapless Gunners 8-2 at Old Trafford. 8-2?! Now, be assured this is not a printing error
and that April Fools Day is a long way away. In what was perhaps the Premier League's most
eye-opening result since its [.
When Arsenal brought club legend Thierry Henry back for a short loan spell, they probably
thought he would provide a morale boost for the squad and impart a bit of wisdom to the youngster.
In addition to that, the 34-year-old striker has actually been a spark on the pitch and scored two
match-winning goals to keep Arsenal alive in the FA Cup and propel them into fourth place in the
Premier League.
It's almost come as shock to some people that Arsenal are kicking into gear and are starting to fly
like R. Kelly believes he can.
It doesn't surprise me though. Not at all. There is too much quality in the squad for us not to
be.
Of course, this current group of players is arguably one of Arsene Wenger's weakest since he joined
the club but that just shows the strength of the previous teams he has had.
This might not really be news to many supporters, but casual fans and youngsters may not realize
that a fourth-place finish by the Gunners this season doesn't necessarily guarantee them a berth in
the European Champions League. It rarely happens, but the UEFA rules state there are only four
spots available for English teams and these won't be bent like they were back in 2005/06
season.
Arsene Wenger has said that his team's recent run of good form is a result of their failures in
the 2010/11 season.
Arsenal were on the verge of ending their six-year long trophy drought at this time last season
when they faced Birmingham City in the Carling Cup final. But in a surprising turn of events, they
lost that match and their confidence took a serious hit.
TweetArsenal boss Arsene Wenger has drawn up a shortlist of players who will leave the club in
order to fund a huge transfer summer spending spree. The Gunners boss is ready to sidestep his
usually cautious approach to signing players by planning a huge summer spending spree but not
before initiating a mass cull at [.

Debatable decisions from an otherwise horrible refereeing
In the two games that we've played Fulham this season, we've only managed to garner 1 point. For
a club with ambitions of winning trophies and finishing as high up the league table as possible,
that is simply not good enough. With Chelsea winning their match before the start of ours, it was
imperative for us to match their result to maintain our 4th spot in the league.
Arsene Wenger made it clear that poor officiating has taken its toll on Arsenal's season but
admitted that his own defense was 'stupid' in conceding twice at Fulham last night.
The Gunners were leading 1-0 through Laurent Koscielny's early goal but a disappointing second
half performance allowed their opponents to bounce right back into the match.
Magic Earlier this week we brought you the video of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger playing guitar
while West Brom boss Roy Hodgson was head-banging. Well, Hodgson was clearly so into the music that
Wenger has now invited him to join the band as drummer. Somebody has taken this to the next level
and put together [.
Carlo Ancelotti joined PSG in December after being sacked by Chelsea. The Italian won the double
in his first season but failed to inspire The Blues as they finished without a trophy the following
season.
The 52-year-old admitted he was hoping to replace Arsene Wenger in north London.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has alleviated concerns about Arsenal's perennially high injury
list, stating that it is about to shorten in the coming days.
Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski made a long-awaited return in the goal during yesterday evening's
3-2 FA Cup win at home to Aston Villa and Wenger believes that midfielders Abou Diaby and Jack
Wilshere are also recovering better than expected.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hinted that Japanese starlet Ryo Miyaichi could be set for a
domestic loan spell as the youngster seeks more playing time to further his development.
The emergence of 18-year old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has provided Wenger with more-than-enough
options on the wings, which means that the 19-year old Miyaichi will need to look elsewhere to
increase his football activity.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that going four games without a win is frustrating but
believes that a top-four finish remains achievable as long as the Gunners make an early impact on
their matches.
Last night's goalless draw at Bolton left Wenger's side in seventh place, five points behind
fourth-place Chelsea and another seven behind bitter cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur in
third.
After a disappointing start to this calender year, Arsenal were finally able to secure their
first Premier League win of 2012, picking up 3 vital points against Blackburn Rovers in a 7-1
demolition at The Emirates.
Once again, Robin van Persie showed just how important he is to this Arsenal side scoring three
and making two others during a numbingly-cold afternoon in North London.
This post originally appeared on our Arsenal blog, but I thought it was worth covering here.
There are some mind blowing quotes from Arsene Wenger in Tuesday's Daily Mirror.
Arsene Wenger is quoted as talking about how much he likes Lille's £30m-rated Eden Hazard, but
he basically says that Hazard is too expensive for Arsenal.
New York Red Fools Arsenal have sparked controversy across the pond after claims they sent an
imposter back to New York in what's being seen as a desperate attempt to keep hold of Thierry
Henry. Red Bulls sporting director Erik Soler told the New York Times: "A gentleman showed up for
training on Friday with [.

On the face of it as tough a task as swimming the English Channel with a piano on your back.

Return not in the sense of the team coming back into form (though we did, in a way with that
result against City) or returning to where we belong (up above them lot), but a return to where
they were last pre-season, to Malaysia. It's another opportunity not only for fans in Malaysia but
also the surrounding countries to join in and witness our beloved team in person.
Criticizing Arsenal's Fiscal Conservatism Is For Laymen – By: JG A new report has come out
regarding the debt crisis for almost all football clubs in Europe; but especially for clubs in the
Spanish league. The Spanish Government has apparently been trying to rescue some of the drowning
teams over there but their efforts have [.

Cesc Fabregas Left Arsenal For Barcelona, When the announcement was made Arsenal fans hoped it was
a terrible joke, I know I did.
But it wasn't and we all had to move on, Arsenal had to move on.
Arsenal's 2-1 defeat against Wigan on Monday made things rather tricky for Arsene Wenger's team
as their third place spot are not mathematically secured as just yet considering the likes of
Tottenham Hotspurs and Newcastle United are only five points behind.
Wenger himself believes that his players could be feeling really tired already as it was visible
shown in their second half performance against Wigan, which was toothless.

finishing ahead of their rivals.
It has been mentioned in quite a few publications today that Arsenal are talking to Athletico

BBC Sport Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger unhappy after loss to Fulham.
Over the past year or so, football experts have taken a shot at trying to troubleshoot
Arsenal's predisposition to losing games which they had already had won. Many comments focused on
the squad's lack of defensive strength but I have a different take on the problem
It's not the defenders that cause Arsenal's fragility, it's the attitude of the manager who
almost never holds his players accountable for their mistakes, blames everyone else around him when
they lose, and so consequently, his players have no fear.
Arsene Wenger saw his team go from 1-0 up with six minutes to go against Fulham, and then collapse
to a 2-1 defeat with the winner coming in the second minute of added time. Johann Djourou was sent
off for a second yellow 13 minutes before the end which led Wenger to bring on Sebastien [...]
Pocket problems Arsene Wenger's knee-length puffa jacket has long been offensive to many
onlookers... and now it has turned against its owner too. The Arsenal boss found it surprisingly
difficult to put his hands in his pockets during last night's defeat to Fulham. Spotted on 101GG
We brought you the GIF of Arsene Wenger unable to find his pocket and the GIF of Roy Hodgson
banging his head. Now someone has put the two together and added a guitar to form a Premier League
rock supergroup.
Arsene Wenger took a chance when he brought Thierry Henry back to Arsenal after five years away,
but he was rewarded within ten minutes of putting Henry on the pitch against Leeds in last nights
FA Cup tie. But even Wenger thought that the Gunners legend wouldn't be able to score from that
position. He [.
Thierry Henry marked his return to Arsenal with a goal as Arsene Wenger's progressed to the FA Cup
4th Round thanks to a 1-0 win over Leeds United. In his first Arsenal match since 2007 after
leaving the club to join Barcelona and MLS Side New York Red Bulls, Henry gave the entire Emirates

When it was first announced that Thierry Henry would be returning to the club, as an Arsenal
fan, it was always going to be impossible not to get excited about the move.
Some people however, were quick to criticize the deal, stating the 34-year old forward was
"past it" and this was just another "desperate" signing by Arsene
Wenger.
Almost a year ago, in the Evening Standard of 20 January 2011, Arsene Wenger was quoted at
saying:
We have a shared leadership in our team, but I believe Fabregas is an outstanding leader,
especially when you consider he is 23 years old, with personality and character and Van Persie as
well.
Many Arsenal fans may have already given up on ever seeing Abou Diaby in an Arsenal shirt again
after his continuing series of ankle problems, which started just after he arrived at the Gunners
in 2006. He was apparently close to a comeback last month but Arsene Wenger announced that he had
he had had [.
Arsene Wenger saw his team get beaten yet again by another mid-table team and proved that the squad
is simply not good enough to challenge for any trophies this season, and probably not even good
enough to stay in the top six. For a change the Arsenal manager couldn't even wheel out the usual
excuses [.
