travels, the Guardian assigns David Hytner to protect its interests in milking the cash cow known
as "Arsene Out.

Much has been said about the perceived success (or lack of it), of Wenger's ‘Project Youth',
particularly since the move to the Emirates. Arsenal Football Club are now seen as standard bearers
in the development of young professional footballers. But is this accolade warranted or is it a
misnomer?
It'd be hard to find many teams that have had a more difficult start to the season than the
Gunners. But few will argue that the next club to host Arsenal isn't facing desperate times.
As a Gooner one can sympathize with another club that is looking to do things the right way. The
new owners don't seem to be very popular amongst the Ewood Park faithful but won my approval when
they sacked Fat Sam.
When it was first announced, not many would have thought an Arsenal V Shrewsbury tie in the
third round of the Carling Cup will take on such significance. I shudder at the thought of
elimination but given the recent form, and with the team finding new ways of gifting goals, it's
not too hard to imagine.
Carlo Ancelotti has been pinpointed as a potential replacement for underfire Arsenal boss Arsene
Wenger. According to The Sweeper, the North London club are closely monitoring Ancelotti's
situation and are weighing up a possible deal which will bring the Italian to the Emirates Stadium
as early as January 2012.
Arsenal left-back Andre Santos has wasted no time in noting that the club's six-year trophy
drought must come to an end following a much-awaited spending spree at the Emirates that saw
manager Arsene Wenger add multiple other signings in addition to the Brazilian international.
The former Fenerbahce player celebrated guiding the Turkish giants to the domestic title last
season, only to have the glory taken away due to a major controversy that the club is currently
embroiled in.
UM BACK ON THE CASE: AS THE PLOT SICKENS by bob What now seems a hundred years ago, just after
our (recent) Udinese victory, our own Wojciech Szezsny told the Guardian: "The only people who
questioned the team and the manager were the media. Inside the team, we don't do that at all."
After Arsene's [.
So the interlull goes on and we all wait for the Swansea game, the odd thing of interest has
happened, UEFA have decided to pin the blame unfairly on Arsene, when it was in fact their
inexperienced delegate at fault. No surprise there then, UEFA's kangaroo court nailing the innocent
in a way that attempts to stifle anyone daring to challenge their almighty corrupt power.
G'day Arse addicts, tis I again, that Stillman fella, come to once again dispense wisdom and
bile in equal measure on behalf of you, the silent majority. Aren't you lucky that I have appointed
myself to hold court at your benediction? With the internationals behind us for another five weeks,
Champions League qualification secured and new signings stockpiled, I'm putting the traumas of
early season behind me and considering this the start of our season.
I read Arsene's comments on the close season this morning and one particular quote stood out for
me. This is it:"Then we had the fact that we could only complete the transfers very late. It was
only possible then, and it was unbelievable how it happened finally."The use of the word 'fact' is
of particular importance.
Arsenal conceded a late equaliser as they were pegged back to a 1-1 draw against Borussia
Dortmund in their opening Champions League Group F clash at the Westfalenstadion.
The German champions dominated the possession in the first half but Van Persie rounded off a
42nd-minute move that he started to give Arsenal the lead against the run of play.
The news that the annual shareholder Q&A has been postponed is a disastrous PR move by the club,
and just confirms to me that those who are running the club have double standards. Last time I
looked, the annual Q&A was a vehicle which prevented the AGM from descending into farce with
shareholder's questions from the floor heaping embarrassment upon the Board members present.
Time zones, eh? It was a perfectly acceptable time where Mrs Blogs is to send a text telling
someone you've found a bar with Goose Island on tap. Provided, of course, that you're sending to
someone also in that time zone. At 4.17am it's a little hard to get enthused by that news, nice and
all as Goose Island is.
Arsenal have come in for a lot of criticism this season, and rightly so after their worst start for
58 years, but Theo Walcott reckons the players should be to blame and not boss Arsene Wenger.
Speaking to Absolute Radio today Walcott said, "The boss is a great man, he can deal with anything
thrown [.
Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to feature in the English Premier League and
the Champions League if he gets the call from manager Arsene Wenger. Speaking to Arsenal Player
ahead of Saturday's game against Bolton ...
After the tumultuous summer at the Emirates which saw the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and
Gael Clichy leave, Arsene Wenger fears the worst as more players could leave Arsenal next summer.
Contract talks have already begun with Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott and Alex Song, and talks are
also due to commence with [.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is well known for his off the cuff quotes and sayings, but he is
actually very well respected in the footballing world despite his funny remarks. He now writes
regularly for the Daily Mirror and his column this week makes for an interesting read. He starts
off by saying, "Now I [.
I take you back to the 94/95 season. Arsenal finished 12th in the Premier League. 6 points
fewer, and they would have been relegated. It was a season riddled with scandal, with George Graham
being sacked for accepting bribes and Paul Merson famously breaking down and admitting his cocaine
and alcohol addiction.
