After having him on loan in December 2008 and with the scouts monitoring him on a regular
basis, Brazilian under17 International Wellington Silva has recently completed his move to The
Gunners in a £3.5million deal. The player however will not arrive at the Emirates until January
2011, as rules state the player must stay at his club until he his 18.

Arsenal return from Villa Park with a point. As we'd discussed a couple of days ago, it's not a
bad result by any means, except perhaps from the point of view of those people who actively seek
out reasons to be negative.
Curiously enough, this is our third away draw of the season and all have come away to teams
playing in Claret and Blue colors.
Good morning all, do we all feel suitable pain to ensure that we are aware that a new year has
arrived? Good stuff. I don't actually have a hangover as I don't drink (don't worry, it's no 'good
living' thing, I just don't like the stuff...I have plenty of other vices to occupy my time).
January 1st and the window is wide open.
I'll start by wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year. May the year be one where you
have the very best of health, wealth and happiness.
It is a new decade (I actually debated briefly whether it started today or next year in 2011).
For us it couldn't begin on a better note, well it could.
The hints are that big Phil may well start at centre back and that Tomas Rosicky will come into the
forward line for our trip to West Ham. I'd also reckon that Fabianski will get some game time ahead
of Almunia. Arsene has spoken about the FA Cup and he confirms that it will be a strong side with
only minor changes from the Pompey game.
The player interviews after games on ATVO are generally quite uninteresting. Most of the times
you can predict what the players will say as the questions are quite leading. Every once in a while
though, an interview gives me something insightful or thought provoking.
Sagna's post match talk after the West Ham game falls in this category.
Morning all.
It's still eerily quiet out there in Arsenal land. With the window open you'd expect all manner
of crap to pouring through it but alas, this is not the case.
We haven't signed anyone, we aren't linked with anyone (who we haven't been linked with a thousand
times already), and we haven't sold anyone.
Well strictly speaking, Arsene and Arshavin were on the pitch briefly to pose for the cameras
on the snow-covered Emirates pitch. That is the closest we got to seeing our heroes for today.
I can't emphasise how much I was looking forward to this match. The "game in hand" since
August, got confiscated by the weather gods.
Well the snow put paid to our chance of going into second place last night. The decision to call
the game off came late enough but those close to the ground were saying from early on it was
unlikely to happen. It provides us with a bit of a fixture scheduling nightmare. The 20th of
January is a possibility, which would mean back to back league games against Bolton, but we'll have
to just wait and see what they come up with.
As legends go PV4 is one of the biggest that I've had the pleasure to watch play for the Arsenal, I
remember his debut at home to Sheffield Wednesday vividly to this day, he came on and changed the
game, his raw athleticism and silky skills combined to devastating effect, back then this kind of
player just wasn't known to the English game.

The first thing we should say about yesterday's game is that we very obviously played an Everton
team still smarting from the opening day pasting we gave them. That day they let down their
manager, they let down their fans and they let themselves down. From the first whistle it was
obvious they weren't going to let that happen as they pressed us all over the pitch and snapped
into tackles.
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has eighteen months left on his contract at the Emirates, and he
has admitted for the first time that he is considering his options, but his main aim is to find a
suitable replacement for when he leaves. Having recently turned sixty he knows that he can't go on
for ever, [.
1997/8 - Vieira, Petit and Parlour 2001/2 - Vieira, Parlour, Van Bronckhorst, Edu, Grimandi 2003/4
- Vieira, Gilberto Silva, Edu, ParlourThese are the midfielders who could defend that we had in the
squad when we won our league titles under Arsene. You will notice that there is a bit of a contrast
with our current squad in terms of defensive midfield options.
The blame game continues at Old Trafford, though, admittedly, it's not much of a game. Here's
how you play: Show you are a true xenophobic Red by blaming the Glazers for everything wrong with
your club and the world in general. And, while a far smaller percentage of Arsenal supporters play
the same game with Wenger, it is quite ironic when United supporters make fun of "Arsene Knows" and
"In Arsene We Trust" signs considering the way they have they turned the other cheek and given Sir
Alex a free ride regarding the tenuous future of their club.
Wenger's pre-match press conference before the Everton game was quite humorous and interesting.
Le Boss spoke on many topics and seemed to be in a jovial mood. Amidst the usual pre-match talk of
injuries, signings, and the ceaseless Spanish Inquisition, a journalist asked Wenger how he is
going to judge the season at the end.
Day 12 of the transfer window and let's just say this - YAWN.
The official site confirmed that Wenger did indeed tell Denilson that he should handle the ball
should the ninja strike again, while Merida has reiterated that he is only in talks with Arsenal,
although Arsene is not feeling confident that the talks will come to a positive conclusion.
So its day twelve in the Big Transfer House, and still nothing – is anyone really surprised?
No, me neither, but I'm sick and tired of wondering who we will /won't be buying, checking NewsNow
every hour in hope that news will sneak in.
All we get is TV saying we need to tighten up the defence and the Fran Merida saga goes on.
Sol Campbell is back with Arsenal at the age of 35. He begins his return with a reserves
match and according to Wenger, he's an important dressing room figure for the youthful Arsenal
squad. The following is a transcript of how Sol and Arsene reached their agreement.
Wenger: Sol, what have you been up to lately?
When I first heard that Sol was heading back to Arsenal, my first reaction was a shrug of the
shoulders and rotate both hands from palms down to palms up at the same time. Really it's like
signing a new tea lady he won't get many games anyway.
Morally this isn't the best move.. A fair number of people were against Flamini coming back.

Well, isn't this just so considerate? The fine footy folk taking part in the African Cup know
how busy our schedules are with Facebook-stalking, online shopping and other such necessities. To
help out, they made sure to stay in the same photo frame for ease of judgment/appreciation in our
Thigh-Off competition today.

The problem over recent years has been that once an emerging player comes good, we then struggle
to keep hold of them. Obviously we have stated that Cesc is not for sale and we can do that with
confidence because he has been unequivocal in his wish to stay.

All the talk at the Reebok revolves around Owen Coyle and rightly so. Bolton have struggled this
season and a new manager, with strong ties to the club, can only be beneficial.
The tactical battles will be interesting. Arsene reckons that a manager can only play with his
style and Coyle will change the Bolton game to a passing one.
Last night I dreamt we played Manchester United in a stadium which was not ours because the
corporation that owned Arsenal had scheduled a Scritti Politti concert at the Grove for the same
day. So Arsenal had play in a much more intimate venue, a stadium in Dundalk which began as a
stadium but ended up as a kind of trendy bar with glass walls looking out over the sea.

Morning all, a fair bit to get through this morning. As usual Arsene had his press conference
yesterday and the manager was in good form. More on that anon but we'll start with team news ahead
of tomorrow. There are no miraculous returns from injury, only Jack Wilshere is back but it looks
as if the youngster may well start the game.
It's that time again. A tricky Cup tie is upon us, eleven first team players are unavailable and
we have a potentially decisive set of league fixtures lined up for the next fortnight. Le Boss has
to walk the tightrope once again and hope that the squad has enough depth and quality to get a
result.
Good morning, it's fairly quiet this morning but consider it the calm before the storm. Arsene
will meet the press today ahead of tomorrow's trip to Villa Park and we should get a good idea of
what sort of team we'll be putting out.
Hopefully there won't be any new injuries and there is the possibility of getting one or two
players back.
We're sort of left in limbo with regards to Vermaelen. Initial reports say he may have broken
his leg. If that is the case then it is perhaps typical of our season that this injury takes place
just weeks after we signed Sol Campbell.
In a season riddled with injuries, one position where we had blessings in abundant was in the
central defence.
This is a historic post of sorts for me. It is the first time I've ever posted something up in
another location, other than mi casa. Currently I'm in a small internet cafe in central london.
Well, not everyone has the privilege to own a smartphone. Normally if I'm travelling I would pass
up the chance to put up a post but we are playing Utd and I just had to give my two cents.
