Good morning from a much wetter than usual, but not as wet as when I went to bed, Dublin. It all
got a bit mental here yesterday evening. Heavy rain, rivers bursting their banks, a strange man
rounding up two of every animal. Where I live turned from a quiet road into a 2 foot deep
river.
Thankfully everything outside seems to be back to normal now, if a little damp, so we can look
ahead to tonight's Carling Cup game against Bolton.
Video highlights and reaction
So, that was a bit better, eh? The corner remains unturned, our backness on the track has yet to
be determined, but we needed a performance and a result to at least start the confidence trickling
back and we got that.
The only things worth talking about from the first half were a fantastic Szczesny save in the
early minutes (that's quite a nice habit he's developing, even if you do wish we wouldn't allow the
chances), a van Persie free kick curled just wide, and a Gervinho shot which whistled not far over
the bar.
Morning all,
there's not a lot needs to be said about today's game. Sometimes you might analyse our team,
sometimes their team, sometimes what kind of approach we might take but today really doesn't merit
any of that. With Arsenal 17th in the table, and if results conspire against us in a position where
we could be bottom later on this afternoon, the only thing we need to look at is three points.
It's rare that I sit here and don't quite know where to start the blog. I know there's a lot of
anger out there but this morning my overriding feeling is one of sadness at another season which
promised so much delivering nothing.
Sadness that a game we should have won was let slip. Sadness that when we needed someone to be
the hero nobody was there.
