Arsene Wenger is expected to make some big-name signings at long last with days remaining before
the transfer window closes.
It emerged that Kaka, Gary Cahill, Leighton Baines, Yann M'Vila & Lille forward Eden Hazard are
all possible targets*.
But here lies the problems, Arsenal fans, including myself are fed up with that word.
Arsene Wenger has been told he should spend nearly all of the £58million recouped from the
pending sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri on improving his Arsenal squad.
That's the story in the Mail this morning. The paper claims Fabregas's move to Barcelona was
inches away from being completed yday after the two clubs agreed a deal worth up to £35m.
The jury is out and the debate is beginning to intensify over the team that will take the
Premier League title away from Chelsea.
Will it be the unbeaten Manchester United who have been, by far, the greatest nemesis for the
Blues in recent years? Or will it be the energetic Arsenal squad that has managed to be the only
club in the country that remains in contention for all four titles?
The Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is currently in Los Angeles in his role as coach for Manchester
City, but as usual he has been asked what his opinion on the state of the current Arsenal squad. He
believes that (like everyone else) Arsene Wenger's team play 'beautiful football', but have lost
the necessary strength to [.
Arsene Wenger wrapped up as many as five quality signings on the transfer deadline day but not
all members of his squad are feeling confident about the future ahead.
Russian winger Andrei Arshavin, for one, believes that the Gunners' failure to sign a defensive
midfielder such as Rennes' Yann M'Vila not only left the Arsenal midfield incomplete, but also
prevented Wenger from compensating for the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
Manuel Almunia is set to make a devastating return to the Arsenal squad as, apparently, the current
keepers are not making enough mistakes. I joke of course, but it is true, he may well be in the
squad to face Huddersfield at the weekend after shaking off injuries to his face, head and ribcage
after beatings [.
Apropos of yesterday's discussion about leadership in the Arsenal squad, I found this story to be
revealing: Rio Ferdinand will always remember his first day at Manchester United and the childlike
excitement of pulling on the strip. "I was thinking to myself: 'These are Man United socks, this is
how they feel.
This is supposed to be the worst Arsenal squad in recent memory (some say Wenger's era, some say
last 20 years, and there are other such opinions floating around). Some Gooners claim Wenger has
lost it and gone senile. He has no ambition, is tactically clueless, and the players show no
spirit.
Real Madrid on the other hand have a squad assembled at a cost that would make the Galacticos
look like a bunch of paupers.
Robin Van Persie doesn't think that the present Arsenal squad can consider themselves as title
contenders, not after making a has of it at the end of most seasons, and he thinks that Arsene
Wenger needs to bring in a "number of players" to make the Gunners into real trophy contenders
again. He said: "Every [.

Imagine the consequences if Arsène actually did do such a thing today, no doubt the sky would
fall on his head. But that is exactly what happened to Bertie Mee the then Arsenal manager as he
left a restaurant in Rome after an Inter City Fairs Cup, first leg tie against Lazio.
A sight as synonymous with Arsenal as a 40-pass move which culminates in a miss-hit shot from
Nicklas Bendtner, there is a banner at the Emirates Stadium which famously reads: "In Arsene we
trust."
Arsene Wenger enjoys absolute and unwavering support from the club's fans and, while few
managers have had such a profound influence on the Premier League, his tenure could soon enter a
state of critical importance.
Japan's Ryo Miyaichi will be part of the Arsenal squad to feature in the Asia Tour and could
feature in Arsene Wenger's first eleven, next season. Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Arsenal boss
confirmed that the ...
Re arranged Arsenal Squad Announced!!! By Countdown Brian Ahh Jaeeeysus I am tired of all the
rumour and intrigue and gossip and scandal surrounding my glorious club and fresh from imagining
what it would be like to take some well earned rest nestling in Sara Beeny's glorious décolletage
I have decided to rearrange the squad [.
Theo Walcott believes that it is "crucial" that Arsene Wenger adds some quality players to a
'bigger' Arsenal squad, and rates Man City and Liverpool as challengers for the title next season
along with the usual suspects of Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd. "We play great football but we might
need a bigger squad," said [.
Gervinho's Arsenal debut ended in disgrace as he was sent off in a goalless Premier League draw
at Newcastle United.
With a quarter of an hour left the striker, bought for £12 million from Lille and Arsenal's
only major summer signing so far, was shown a straight red card for a slap on Joey Barton, who had
become incensed with the Ivorian after he took a blatant dive in the box.
Arsene Wenger confirms Samir Nasri is in Arsenal squad to play Liverpool and does not
doubt Manchester City target's commitment
The French boss has praised the midfielder's attitude during pre-season amid transfer saga and
says he will be happy to pick him, as he fends off accusations of breaking Uefa rules

Manager Arsene Wenger was delighted to see the Gunners qualify for the group stage of the Champions
League as the win over Udinese eases the pressure on his young Arsenal squad. Speaking in his
post-match press ...
- Tom Thomas
Arsène Wenger will be feeling very sad tonight. Not just the sadness you feel when you're
disappointed with yourself, but a certain sadness trailed by the desperation and helplessness of
knowing you're in a corner and you may well have put yourself there.
When Robin Van Persie stalled on his Arsenal contract talks earlier in the month, there were
tremors felt everywhere. Clubs were perking up their ears, waiting for new development. Arsenal
fans were quaking....dismayed that yet another "home-grown" star is on the verge of leaving.
Arsenal has not been known to keep their stars with huge wage packages and therefore it will not be
hard to imagine the departure of the Dutch star come end of this season.
Will be training at Colney for a few more seasons now
If the team needed any lifting before their trip to Marseille, this should be it. The news of
Thomas Vermaelen penning an extension to his contract. Obviously, what transpired in the summer has
got a lot of fans worried that the situation might be replicated with those currently with 2 years
left on his contract.
The recent strong run by the Gunners has created this impression that they are a hard lot to
beat. I am among the many Gooners who have noted and commented on the doggedness of this Arsenal
squad. With that in mind, I thought it would be interesting to see if some numbers back the new
found resolve that is being widely perceived and how other top teams stacked up when compared to
Arsenal.
Song needs become our invincible man
As we past the halfway mark of league games played, Arsenal are sitting pretty in 3rd position.
Albeit 2 points behind Manchester United and Manchester City having played a game more than the
former and a game less than the latter. We also have a very healthy goal difference of plus 20,
just 3 short of leaders United.
After the performances of both Arsenal and Manchester United this past week, you certainly saw
two teams that have full guns blazing towards a collision clash for supremacy in the English
Premier League.
The Bleacher Report writes that despite popular opinion, perhaps it is Arsenal that has
developed a winning mentality, and not United.
The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Manuel Almunia has returned to the Arsenal squad
after a prolonged absence through injury, but he will not automatically return as first choice in
the Gunners squad. "He has been injured for a long time and in a situation like that you feel
jobless," Wenger said.

We're going to Wembley, again!
After the heroics of Tuesday night where Arsenal reached Wembley in the Carling Cup final, the
Gunners' focus on Saturday will be on trying to reach Wembley once again in the FA Cup, where they
face Huddersfield at the Emirates in the Fourth Round.
Finally some good news on the injury front for Arsenal fans as both Cesc Fabregas and Robin van
Persie are in the Arsenal squad for tomorrow's game against Barcelona.
Van Perise is the big surprise. After getting injured in the Carling Cup final, it was feared
that RVP would be out for up to six weeks, but it appears he has responded well to treatment and
Arsene Wenger has included him in his 19-man squad.
It has certainly been a difficult 30 days for Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal team. Almost a month
ago to the day Arsene was, perhaps inadvisably, tipping his side for a possible quadruple after
overcoming Barcelona at the Emirates.
Today things are rather bleaker. Out of the four competitions they began February fighting for;
they are now down to one.
That killed me yesterday.
You would have thought that Arsenal were playing in a pre-season friendly the way they
performed.
Arsene Wenger described the performance as 'flat'. Well I'd use another term to be honest. Very
shit.
And that's being generous too.
I can't believe that the players were not up for this game.
On Saturday we celebrated St Totteringham's Day.
I know, I know, this was supposed to be the season when the pribbling, flap-mouthed
fustilarians* from N17 would overcome the Forces of Light and begin a reign of darkness and
terror.
Just like last year.
And the year before. And before that.
It is being reported this morning that Arsene Wenger is willing to call Barcelona's bluff and slap
a price tag of £50m on Cesc Fabregas. Today's Mirror says that Wenger will be happy to accept the
money to bring in a few top-class players to rebuild the Arsenal squad. Another benefit of giving
them a [.
A moment to remember!
That feeling of excitement is in the air again. Praises are flowing for each side. Doubts are
being raised. Questions are being flung at every facet of our game. The first leg victory was
unanimously accepted as just the first half of a good game. A game that saw Barcelona dominate
Arsenal and get an away goal.
There have been numerous rumours in the last few days that the Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has
had enough of waiting for first team chances at Stamford Bridge, and that he could be the perfect
replacement for Nicklas Bendtner in the Arsenal squad. After five years in the Premiership (albeit
as a sub most of [.
Soon after the Brazilian midfielder Denilson admitted that he was looking for another club, it was
immediately reported that Roma had offered £5m for Arsenal squad player. Denilson himself said
that he wanted to move to either Italy or Spain, so his agent had probably been in contact with
teams from both Leagues.
The Brazilian midfielder Denilson has issued a come-and-get-me plea to just about everybody! The
Arsenal squad player believes that this season just gone has been his best ever for the Gunners. He
wants any European team that is playing in the Champions League to take him away from the Emirates,
and if no-one comes to [.
I'm assuming that Samir Nasri and Arsene Wenger will be having a chat sometime soon.
A nice face to face talk with hopefully no slimy agents any where near the vicinity. I'm sure a
Rottweiler or Martin Keown could guard the door.
We all know that Wenger can be very persuasive when he wants to be.
It is being reported this morning that both Nicklas Bendtner and Cesc Fabregas are to be left
behind while the Arsenal squad go to Germany for the second leg of their pre-season training
schedule. After Pep Guardiola's statement to the press about Fabregas it seems that Barcelona
officials are on their way to London with [.
Arsene Wenger has been giving a full injury round-up as the Arsenal squad prepares for the final
pre-season game against Benfica, and it seems that Laurent Koscielny has been added to the list of
missing players. "Walcott is back in training but he is not ready just yet," Wenger said. "Wilshere
is injured on his [.
Scratch beneath the surface and there really isn't much at all; this has to be the weakest
Arsenal squad that I can remember. The sad thing is, its not just weak in terms of the lack of
experience, there is a lack of quality too.
Potential is vital in any squad, you always need young players you have high hopes for it has to
be balanced though, there is a severe lack of that balance in this Arsenal squad.
