Back again to give you Fantasy Premier League tips. Sorry for the lack of post in the last week, I
was sick and wasn't able to give my thoughts about that gameweek.
But as I said, now it's time to look at the gameweek 5.
Chelsea has been dominating in the first few rounds and as they now go against riser Blackpool on
their hometurf, it's very like Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Essien and co keep on scoring goals and
collecting points.
The huge gulf in class between the two teams was eventually exposed as Arsenal won the game
convincingly, albeit with a few hiccups along the way. For a while it looked much closer than it
should have been, mainly due to the endeavour of the hosts, good goalkeeping, and profligacy of the
Arsenal attackers.
A couple of stories breaking late in the day today:
First, Robin van Persie is out until mid-October with the ankle injury suffered against
Blackburn, according to the official site. Damn damn damn. Remember a couple of months ago when we
were all worried about how van Persie, Chamakh, and Bendtner were going to play together in the
same system?
Ruud van Nistelrooy was never a popular character amongst Arsenal fans but this hatred climaxed
at Old Trafford at the start of the 2003/2004 season.
Patrick Vieira was on a yellow card when from the floor, he kicked out at Ruud, and was shown a
second yellow and sent off. Ruud made a meal of it and this incensed the Arsenal players and
fans.
If you, like me, don't follow the Portuguese league or the early stages of the Champions League
then you probably don't know much about Braga. That's the reason I was quite interested in
listening to Arsene's opinion about our opponents on Wednesday night. These are the points I got
from the press conference,
Braga are team that is physically strong, well organized, play with quick transition from
defence to offence, and are good with shots from distance.
Like most soccer fans, I am a soccer league polygamist. Because I live less than 20 minutes
from an MLS club, I root for and follow Major League Soccer in the U.S. However, I am also a
passionate Arsenal fan who lives and dies in every match they play throughout the year. And of
course, I love Serie A best of all and have my favorite club, whose scarf I wore proudly this past
Sunday.
Hello there,
plenty of Arsenal players in international action today. The official site has a list of what
those players did and didn't do at the weekend, you have to think the majority of them will be at
it again tonight. I could go and check but frankly it's just not interesting enough.
Like the rest of you I'm just hoping that the lads come through without injury so we've got as
full a squad as possible for the weekend.
Denmark have recently appointed their new captain in their ranks, new Liverpool defensive
midfielder Christian Poulsen 30, but NB hopes to take over from that reign when C-Poulsen retires
from international football.
He said . . .
When Jon stopped, was it that it would be either Christian or Daniel Agger, who would replace
him.
Arsenal continued their winning run, bringing it to 3 on the trot now as we beat Bolton at the
Grove. This was predicted to be a difficult game and that is how it turned out to be. The scoreline
in the end was slightly flattering for Arsenal despite the numerous chances that were created. Cesc
Fabregas was the star of the show as he created 2 goals and probably inadvertently created
another.
I received an e-mail from a PR company advising on the latest events Arsenal players are
involved with in their bid to raise funds for the clubs charity of the season
Centerpoint.
I thought rather than just re-hash quotes etc. it would be nice to see how the work with
Centerpoint is developing.
We've seen this happen before. Not only to Arsenal players, though theirs get the most airtime
and end up being the most horrific. It has happened to United as well. Alan Smith, who made the
most hated crossover in English Football when he came over from Leeds.
When a team wins by a margin like 6-0, it's very easy to dismiss the match as a sporting
contest. And so it is in this case, Sporting Braga were ripped apart by an Arsenal team that was in
the mood to show the best of their game. At no point, from the first minute to the last, did Braga
look like they had a chance of taking any of the points.
Seventy-two hours after Bobby Zamora (S) recorded the first broken leg of the
season, Antonio Valencia (RW) found himself owner of the second. Initially feared
as missing the remainder of the season, Valencia is now expected back some time in
February or March of 2011.
As a Spurs fan, Tuesday night's performance hurt....a lot! What got to me more, however, was the
players, once again, stating that Spurs have closed the gap on Arsenal and we are the better team.
Same thing I've heard over and over and over again. Yet, not a peep from the Arsenal players on the
matter at hand and it appeared there was no need to.
By 1970's GoonerWhat a really pathetic performance. Everyone except Nasri should really feel
ashamed of himself. This goes to prove what is well known in football. It doesn't matter if you
play against the lowest opposition, you simply have to play at your best to beat them. And the
Arsenal players thought that by just turning up West Brom will lie down and roll over.
If there's anything worse than having to write blogs like today's it's waking up, with a
hangover the size of Yaya Toure's arse, letting your elderly dog out the back for a piss, going
back to sleep and then dreaming you've already written it.
Painful. Obviously not as painful as yesterday but painful nonetheless.
A couple of odds and ends today:

Thomas Vermaelen will not be fit for Sunday's match against Chelsea. It's really unfortunate,
because we could really use him against one of the most potent offenses in the world.
