Several sources are reporting that Zenit St Petersburg have finally moved to end this protracted
transfer saga when it became clear yesterday that Manchester City were not interested in making an
offer for the player. The sources are indicating that the official offer of £15 million will
be payable in instalments, and this now opens the [.
I'm finding it increasingly difficult to take this transfer window seriously. Other than a couple
of stories with potential, it seems that the media are either making up outlandish rumours, or
rehashing the stupid ones they used a year ago. Here are ten Arsenal rumours that bear no relation
to reality: 1.
1. Arsenal managed 71 points from 38 games played in 2008, with 36 from the last 18 of last season,
and 35 from the first 20 of this. 71 points in a league season has always been comfortably enough
to finish in the top four, which suggests that we are well on the way to [...]
As we head closer to Arsenal's Monday deadline, there is no sign of the Russian joining
Arsenal. Znit are sticking to their guns and demanding £20m, Arsenal have offered
£12m plus £3m. We now have an impasse. The player wants to join Arsenal, Arsenal
want the player and Zenit want the transfer to go through.
Right, let's get the inevitable out of the way first, as it seems to be dominating the Arsenal
airwaves at the moment. The will-he-won't-he saga of Arshavin is no closer to being resolved, with
every party sticking firmly to their guns. Arsenal are refusing to go above a figure believed to be
around £12m, Zenit, not [.
With the winter transfer window ticking down, several reports are claiming that Portsmouth
Manager Tony Adams , as well as Middlesbrough Coach Gareth Southgate are keen to sign Gunners
starlet Carlos Vela on loan. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has turned down so far all offers for
the 19 years old forward, but could change his mind [.
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been given a starting berth in tomorrow's FA Youth Cup fourth
round tie against Wolves, Gooner Talk understands. The 17-year-old flamboyant star recently signed
a professional contract with the club, and despite being promoted to the first team squad in
August, Jack will now get his chance to shine [.
Last week, Andrei Arshavin's agent, Dennis Lachter, claimed that his client would be moving this
week. Inevitably, that hasn't happened, and he now insists the move will go ahead next week. I find
that unlikely, and this transfer is a classic case of one that will run until deadline day, as it
simply isn't in anyone's [.
Arsenal are set to join up with Polish side Slask Wroclaw in what looks like a potential
feeder-club deal. According to Wroclaw boss, Ryszard Tarasiewicz, the Gunners have made
arrangements for scout Gilles Grimandi to analyse and look over some of Wroclaw's hot-prospects.
"In the coming weeks, Gilles Grimandi, an Arsenal official, will fly to [.
Mexican international Carlos Vela has returned for the Gunners on bench tonight, but was
finally a unused substitute, as Arsenal striker Robin van Persie secured the Gunners with a
last minute equaliser at Goodison Park. Vela saw a poor match from his teammates, where
finally David Moyes side was so close to get three very vital points in the battle
for the [.
Zenit St Petersberg director Maxim Mitrofanov revealed that talks are still progressing with
Arsenal over the transfer of Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin. The 27-year-old is closing in on
his ideal move to the Gunners after several weeks of firm interest from the north London giants.
However, Zenit official Mitrofanov admitted that Arsenal are yet [.
With Fabregas out injured for three months, we were going to be lacking creativity in the
team. It took Arsene 15 minutes against Portsmouth and 45 minutes against Plymouth to
re-arrange the formation. We became more effective once Nasri came to play behind the strikers.
Nasri as with Hleb and Rosicky are more effective playing a [.
The rumors are starting to heat up, with the Arshavin to Arsenal possibility looking stronger
and stronger. I say that as a result of it being posted on the BBC Sport main page, as a story has
come out revealing Zenit Coach Dick Advocaat 'confirming' the transfer speculation. Now just
because the head coach has mentioned something may happen does not guarantee Arsenal splashing out
the cash demands that Zenit have placed on their star midfielder.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains 'hopeful' that Andrei Arshavin will be a Gunners player by the
end of the current transfer window. 27-year-old versatile forward Arshavin has attracted an array
of admiring clubs on the strength of two spectacular Euro 2008 performances against Sweden and the
Netherlands, and it's Arsenal who are in the [.
Here at Gooner Talk we strive to make things just that little bit more easy for you. And because of
that, we've decided to publish live updates of Andrei Arshavin's ongoing move to Arsenal. According
to Setanta Sports, the move is 'imminent' and as we revealed on Saturday, Zenit St Petersberg will
make their [.
Arsenal are likely to make a number of changes to the team that beat Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup
third round when they entertain Bolton this Saturday. The Gunners, who have beaten the Trotters in
all of the last four league games between the clubs, used the FA Cup to blood a number [...]
Not a very creative title for tonight's post, but sometime when it's an off night, pretending
that I'm a good writer is a bit difficult. While considering ideas, it came upon me to focus on the
key player who will help this team to the CL or beyond in the remaining few months. That and I was
sick of Arshavin.

that, we've decided to publish live updates of Andrei Arshavin's ongoing move to Arsenal. According

So tired of hearing this or that about the Arshavin madness. I don't even want to write this
post right now, but since everyone and his or her mom is writing and reporting something about a
fee being agreed, I figure I would take this time to whinge about it. Wenger has now come out and
said that the fee everyone has reported has not been agreed upon.
A top-four finish seems to be of no immediate concern to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who believes
his side can achieve a Champions League place. The Gunners are currently placed fifth in the
English Premier League table, eight points adrift of leaders Manchester United and five points
behind Aston Villa, who currently occupy the [.
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has vowed to keep hold of Kolo Toure despite the Ivorian's desire
to leave the club - and join up with his brother at Barcelona. Toure handed in a transfer request
last month but Hill-Wood says it's been rejected. Manchester City are keen to land Toure if he gets
his [.
Russia hotshot Andrei Arshavin will be an Arsenal player in the coming days, according to his agent
Dennis Lachter. Italian daily TuttoSport says 27-year-old Arshavin will sign a 5-year deal with
Zenit pocketing £18m from the transfer fee. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is a known admirer
of the highly-rated star, beat off competition from [.
We have reached the stage where Arsenal needs new blood in the board-room. We can no longer
trust the old Etonian boardroom led by Peter Hill-Wood. Mr Hill-Wood has been a good chairman
of the club, but we have entered into a new era in football. No longer can a club survive and
succeed by being [.
Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey will make a fond return to his former club Cardiff City when Arsenal
play the Championship high-flyers in the FA Cup fourth round next month. The Ninian Park outfit
boast a talented mix of youngsters and experienced marksman such as Joe Ledley and Tony Capaldi.
They currently lie fourth in [.
Apologies for the long absence but I've been in transition mode over the past weekend and needed
time to get ready to settle into a new area.
Last weekend's result was pleasing enough, and it made me ponder the chance of success in the FA
Cup. Realistically speaking, this competition is the best chance that this team has of adding
silverware this season.
Rennes forward Sylvain Wiltord has praised the level of workmanship that goes on behind-the-scenes
at Arsenal and admits that the Gunners have the best set-up in European football. Former
Highbury-favourite Wiltord, who clocked up over 170 games for Arsene Wenger's side, was the most
expensive signing in Arsenal's history.
Former Arsenal skipper William Gallas replied with an embarassed smile when asked about a possible
rift with team-mates Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri. The 31-year-old French International also
maintained his committment to the Gunners in what proved a fascinating watch on France 2's 'Stade
2′ evening show.
Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin has agreed personal terms with Arsenal according to reliable news
source Life.RU. The article also states that newly-appointed chief executive Ivan Gazidis has been
allowed to bumper Arsenal's current bid up another 5 million euros. 27-year-old Arshavin visited
London during his summer holiday's last month, and told the Russian site about [.
PGL: Today we're having a Russian Free Fly Zone. Not talk about him until its concluded one way or
the other. The transfer window can't close quick enough for me. Some of the crap that written is
truly unreal. Anyway Insiders, myself and Arsenehollis are going to lead you through the weekly
round up.
It's no secret that I love the FA Cup. Where others see a devalued competition that many clubs
treat as a mere distraction, I see the opportunity for some journeyman players to take on their
illustrious counterparts and occasionally triumph on the biggest day of their sporting lives.
You only have to see the delight and [.
As Gooner Talk told you yesterday, Zenit St Petersberg are hopeful of completing the deal of Andrei
Arshavin to Arsenal in the next 48 hours. More to come.
The deal agreed between Arsenal and Zenit has now finally been announced by Zenit St Petersburg on
it's website and in due course, as I revealed on Friday, it was subject to personal terms, which
contrary to some misinformed sources had not been agreed. Put as best as I can, from the russian
translation, Zenit have suggested a [.
Former Arsenal skipper William Gallas is likely to start for the Gunners in tomorrow's crucial
Premier League tie against Everton at Goodison Park. The 31-year-old French centre half has been
missing from the Arsenal side for several weeks due to a niggly hamstring injury. With Johan
Djourou and Kolo Toure, the latter rumoured to of [.
Arsenal striker Carlos Vela could be involved in Arsene Wenger's 18-man squad, when the
Gunners travel on Wednesday to Liverpool to face at Goodison Park David Moyes Everton side. Vela
missed out to took part in Arsenal's draw at Ninian Park, because of a slight injury, which he
picked up in training earlier in the last week.
If you believe everything you read in the media, it's a pretty awful time to be an Arsenal fan
right now. Apparently, we're out of the top four, going backwards, Villa are flying, we aren't
going to sign anyone,we probably won't qualify for the Champions League and then we'll go even
further back in the [.
Andrei Arshavin's agent has been in London today for another round of talks with Arsenal officials
over the transfer of Zenit St Petersberg's star player. According to SovSport, Israeli-based Dennis
Lachter has been negotiating 27-year-old Arshavin's contract, which could see him earning up to
£70,000-a-week if the Russian new sources are to be believed.
I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year. I won't be able to have much on over the next few
days prior to the FA Cup match on Saturday. With the transfer window opening, get ready to hear
about anyone and their mothers switching squads this next month. Arshavin, Arteta, and Given are
some of the early rumors started.
Arsene Wenger insists Kolo Toure is happy at Arsenal despite the club rejecting a transfer request
from the Ivory Coast defender. Toure, 27, has failed to hold down a first-team place since
recovering from malaria but the £10million-rated ace has been told to honour his Gunners
contract. Wenger turned down the surprise request and [.
If silly season hadn't started yet it certainly has now. I thought my Nan heading down to the club
shop to scrounge for bargains in the sales on Christmas eve was the moment, but the noises coming
from the club yesterday surpass even that. Frankly the first thing to say is not to read too [...]
Arsene Wenger admits that he was keeping tabs on Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler last August, but
has today ruled out signing the combative star after constant speculation linking the 23-year-old
with the Gunners. Gooner Talk were the first to reveal Arsenal's interest in the defence-minded
starlet "Yes, in the summer," he replied.
