After a bit of a blog break, I thought it time to reflect on the past couple of weeks, and talk
about the one thing that really struck me amongst the furore around Theo's international hattrick.
And that was David Bentley's reaction. If you get another chance to see the highlights, take a look
as Walcott [.
Midfield powerhouse Stephen Appiah is set to sort out his club future this week with Premier League
side West Ham now the new favourites to acquire the Ghana international. Appiah, 27, played for
Ghana on Friday evening and came-on after 22 minutes to replace Michael Essien and make his return
to fitness, in his nation's World [.
Young Mexican forward Carlos Vela has scored in his first competitive start for the Gunners
tonight a hat-trick, as Arsenal destroyed Championship side Sheffield United by six
goals to nill. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has named for tonight's Carling
Cup 3rd Round clash, the youngest ever Gunners side to face the Blades,
including the first years scholars Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong.
According to reports, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah. It was reported
that West Ham had also made an offer for the former Fenerbahce midfielder, but Arsene Wenger could
also be on the look out for the experienced stalwart. Appiah is one of the most highly regarded
midfielders in Africa and has been [.
Juventus wing star Sebastian Giovinco's agent has denied speculation the 'Old Lady's' midfielder
has held talks with Premier League club Arsenal. Reports in the English media, as well as Arsenal
blogs, claim the 21-year-old has been in touch with the Gunners over a possible move to London.
Contrary to those reports, Giovinco's representative, Andrea D'Amico, insists there [.
Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia has revealed that Arsenal failed with a late bid to sign him during
the summer transfer window but admits he still wants a move to the Premier League - preferably with
a big side like Arsenal. Long-time Everton target Mbia has been retained by the Ligue 1 side
against his wishes, as [.
New Spurs striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has wasted little time in declaring his aim to shoot down arch
rivals Arsenal this season. Pavlyuchenko arrived at White Hart Lane from Spartak Moscow in a
reported £14 million deal last Monday and while he is yet to make an appearance for his new
employees the Russian ace is [.
Arsenal striker Carlos Vela has been ruled out of this weekends Premier League fixture away to
Blackburn, with the 19-year-old only returning to England on Thursday afternoon. Friday will be the
Mexicans first training session since featuring for his country in important FIFA World Cup
Qualifiers, and manager Arsene Wenger added Vela's name to the list [.
After a two week break and the euphoria of Walcottmania we are back to real football. Arsenal
travel north to Ewood Park, a place that has not always been a happy hunting ground for Wenger and
the boys. Add to that the late arrivals from international duty, and you already have
the makings of lethargic, first gear [.
To celebrate Carlos Vela's thunder performance against Championship
side Sheffield United last night, Carlos Vela News is offering an exclusive Picture
special of his first competitive start for the Gunners, as well as his magic 90
minutes, plus of course his magnificent hat-trick!!!

With the summer transfer window slammed shut - Gooner Talk, with thanks to QuartzGooner - have
compiled the list of players to have been linked with us this summer. 105 players were rumoured to
be on their way to Arsenal but a mere 6 actually joined the club. These were: Aaron Ramsey, Francis
Coquelin, Samir Nasri, Amaury Bischoff, [.
The transfer window has now come and gone. And to a bit of surprise, Wenger signed no one,
although reports indicate he did make an effort to go after Xabi Alonso. In fact, the biggest
signings for us yesterday were the youngsters Kieran Gibbs and Mark Randall agreeing to contract
extensions.
The Alonso signing would be hard to pull off, because Rafa Benitez would be a bit off his rocker
to agree a transfer fee to a direct rival without getting much more than the player is actually
worth.
Having let it settle a bit, I thought it appropriate to revisit what happened in Kiev yesterday.
A definite winneable game was blown thanks to some poor finishing. It isn't really much more than
that. The penalty awarded to Kiev was without doubt a dodgy decision. A first glance at it and it
look like Sagna tackled Ognjen Vukojevic in the box.
Arsene Wenger's Young guns face Sheffield United in the Carling Cup this Tuesday, with the
youngsters and squad players expected to get a full 90 minutes. That means Nicklas Bendtner and
Carlos Vela will most likely partner each other on the night. We saw their frightening partnership
in pre-season against Burgenland, Stuttgart and Ajax and [.
Arsenal's Carling Cup tie with Wigan Athletic has been pencilled in to be broadcast live on Sky
Sports next month. Arsene Wenger's young Guns were rewarded for the mauling efforts against
Sheffield United with a game which could see the likes of Egyptian frontman Amir Zaki come up
versus Gavin Hoyte.
Another game, another easy win at the Emirates. It was at times a pleasure to watch, and at
other times, agonizing (ok, to an extent) to see the opportunities missed. The final score should
have been 6-0. At least. Undue pessimism aside, it was a very good result for Wenger's kids.
Important to note that it was Cesc's 200th Arsenal appearance - rather amazing for a 21 year
old.
Well, midnight has come and gone, and barely even a rumour around the club means that, for once, it
seems there will be no late deadline day arrivals at Arsenal. And that in itself will let the doom
and gloom brigade have their fun, predicting bottom half finishes, empty seats, mounting
debt, and everyone from Spurs to [.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he was left impressed by Carlos Vela's 28 minutes cameo against
Newcastle United on Saturday, and enthused that the forward has a big future with the club. Wenger
told the Gunners official website on Tuesday: "Yes, he looks like another one for the
future," Vela is just 19-years-old, but is attracting the attention [.
Stephen Appiah played for Ghana last night and came-on after 22 minutes to replace Michael Essien
and make his return to fitness, in his nation's World Cup qualifier against Libya. The free agent,
following his release from Turkish club Fenerbache, had been considering terms to sign at Upton
Park.
Vodafone chief executive Paul Donovan is being linked with the job at Arsenal - to replace
already-departed Keith Edelman. Edelman had held the job since 2000 and was instrumental in
steering the club through its move from its old home Highbury to its new Emirates Stadium at
Ashburton Grove. According to The Daily Mail, Donovan [.
More World Cup Qualifiers means more recaps. I think Abby will have some post gushing about Theo
Walcott, so I'll only briefly mention him here. And post a picture. Lot of Gunners in action, and
from what I've heard, no major injuries.
Robin Van Persie
Started and played 69 minutes for the Netherlands in their 2-1 win against FYR Macedonia.
(Summary is not available.)
Dynamo Kyiv boss Yuri Semin already has a fair knowledge of his Champions League opponents,
Arsenal, but it has most likely broadended after the experienced coach travelled 1340 miles to
watch Arsene Wenger's side thrash Blackburn 4-0 on Saturday. The 40-year-old former Highbury
defender earned over 70 caps whilst at the club and will be looking [.
Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky still appears short of a return to action according to media
reports - but could be fit in a couple of months time. The 28-year-old winger has been sidelined
since January with a thigh injury, and it doesn't appear as if he sees himself playing again any
time soon.
Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner has admitted in a post match interview after the Sheffield clash,
that his partnership up front with teammate Carlos Vela is really fantastic. The young Dane praised
also the qualities of the young Mexican, as well as Vela's attitude. Bendtner told Arsenal TV
online: "Everybody played really really well, we could have had [.
Arsenal's French defensive duo Gael Clichy and summer signing Mikael Silvestre are fit for
Saturday's Premier League match with Hull City. Clichy, 22, was on the receiving end of a strong
challenge from Bolton's Kevin Davies and was immediately driven to hospital with what looked like
at the time, a broken leg.
Arsene Wenger told Sky Sports News that he has no interest in letting any more players leave the
club and won't recruit any more bodies into the paper-thin Arsenal squad before deadline day ends
in the next 4 hours. The 52-year-old Frenchman was speaking before the Arsenal Reserve side took on
Chelsea at Undehill - a [.
My initial reaction to the Man City takeover yesterday was simply 'oh, another one'. The new owner,
Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim, was making the same noises as so many of his predecessors. 'We'll break the
top four, we'll win the Champions League, we'll be the biggest club in the world'. Of course, we've
heard this before.
Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz should be fit to face Arsenal in the Premier League on September
13 after declaring himself available for Paraguay. Paraguay take on Argentina in a crucial World
Cup qualifier on Saturday but Santa Cruz had been a doubt because of the Achilles problem that
forced him to limp out of the [.
David Bentley said in December of last year "I've a bit of banter with Becks. I tell him I'm
the new Becks and better looking. Some players are in awe of him but he's just Becks to me. "I
believe I should be in the England team instead of him. Any footballer [...]
Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Eboue could miss Wednesday's Champions League group stage match at Dinamo
Kiev after sustaining seperate injuries during this afternoons 4-0 rout against Blackburn. Both
players were victim to kicks from Rovers' players with the latter winning a penalty after being
brought down in the box by Stephen Warnock.
In Saturday's Times, an investigative journalist revealed that Arsenal will be announcing record
financial results. "Arsenal's annual results, to be released on September 26, will show that
turnover from the whole business has rocketed to about £225m. Club sources say the figures for
the year ending May 31, 2008, will also reveal record pretax profits of [.
Blackburn 0 Arsenal 4 (Van Persie 8, Adebayor 45, pen 81, 90) (Premiership) Last season Derby's
defence were twice victims to Adebayor hattricks, and after a slow start to his Premiership
campaign he managed another against a back line almost as poor. That isn't a dig at our big striker
- you can only score against those [.
Only one thing to talk about today, and that is with the confirmation that Stan Kroenke
has now joined the Arsenal board, a quite remarkable turnaround from when Peter Hill-Wood claimed
'we don't need his sort'. That view has been softened not only to stave off the interest from
Usmanov, but also because Kroenke does seem to [.
Nicklas Bendtner and Emmanuel Eboue have been handed starts by Arsene Wenger as the Gunners' take
on Bolton later this evening. Dutch forward Robin van Persie has been dropped to the bench, while
Alex Song is also replaced despite putting in a workman-like effort against Dynamo Kiev during
midweek.
Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy has NOT broken his leg during this evening's Premier League win over
Bolton Wanderers after the official website confirmed that the Frenchman only suffered "shin
bruising". The 22-year-old had be taken to hospital following a challenge from Trotters
striker Kevin Davies, who was booked for the tackle, and Cesc Fabregas claimed after [.
There is little down that at the top of world football there are some complete idiots. At the
very peak you have Sepp Blatter, a man with more faux pas than Boris Johnson, and whose ideas are
often the ridicule of the media and blogs everywhere. On the European stage, you have Michel
Platini, who is a [.
Corinthians striker Detinho is the player being linked with a transfer to Arsenal after Richard Law
told a Spanish newspaper that a deal is "progressing well" with a "Carlos Vela
type-player". Brazil based scout Sandro Orlandelli has been keeping tabs on the highly-rated
19-year-old with the speedy forward reportedly keen to make a move during the [.
Arsenal forwards Nicklas Bendtner and Robin van Persie have sustained injuries whilst on
International duty for their respective countries.
