The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger accepts that he will be criticized if his young team get beaten
by Olympiakos tonight, but he has the right to rest some players who may have injuries or knocks.
Standard Liege are two points behind Olympiakos, and are counting on an Arsenal win to give them a
chance to progress, [.
With the matches coming thick and fast as always during the year end and the new year signalling
the end of a decade, I will take this oppourtunity to reflect back on the past 10 years of Arsenal
Football Club. Over the next 15 days, in between Arsenal games, it's as good a time as [...]
Continuing on from the look back at the decade that has been for Arsenal Football Club, today we
arrive at the 2001/02 season. Under Arsene Wenger, Arsenal has always performed better in big
tournament years, and this was no different. For the second consecutive World Cup years, Arsenal
have won the double on both occasions.
Carlos Vela put to bed all transfer rumours on his future after signing a new long-term contract
with Arsenal Football Club.
Speaking of his contract extension, Carlos said:
I'm very happy to sign a new contract and I'm very excited to be spending more years with
Arsenal Football Club.
As news filters through that Stan Kroenke has purchased 25 more shares of Arsenal Football Club
edging him closer to the 30% threshold for the mandatory takeover bid, it has become apparent to
the fans that they might be looking at the future owner of the club.
Having Kroenke as the owner of the club will not be bad.
According to Arsenal's official website, Arsenal boss Arsene
Wenger is willing to purchase a striker who is Euro cup-tied (not able to play in the
09/10 Champions League due to already playing in it for another team). Wenger said,
"We are going for the domestic title and the FA Cup aswell and doing that allows you to rest a
player for the Champions League or play another player in the Premier League.
Most of us would agree that it appears very likely that Stan Kroenke may be the new owner of
Arsenal Football Club in the near future. The American billionaire has been slowly purchasing
shares for more than a year now and is on the verge of having the magic 30 per cent number that
will require him to make a formal takeover bid.
On Monday, it was announced that Stan Kroenke had purchased another 25 shares in Arsenal
Football Club for £212,500, bringing him within 17 shares of being forced to launch a takeover
bid. Of course, it must be stressed that even the seemingly apocalyptic figure of 29.99% does not
mean anything is going to happen.
