Match Of The Day Highlights
1-0 Robin Van Persie
2-0 Samir Nasri
3-0 Own Goal, Roger Johnson
Arsenal are worried about Nicklas Bendtner being the subject of tapping-up by Champions League
finalists Bayern Munich.
It is believed that Bayern, who have admitted their interest in Bendtner on record publicly
recently, made contact with Nicklas Bendtner's representatives (including his father) to make their
interest known and gave details as to the terms that would be offered by the Germans.
A class apart... 1. However ugly the journey, and however mishandled the situation, the end result
is correct. Grant's time has come. By the time you are reading this he will probably already have
gone. Grant's winning percentage in the Premier League since leaving Chelsea is just 19%. It's just
not good enough.
Chelsea manager donates to Help the Aged It will please Chelsea fans that Carlo Ancelotti is
interested in the youth players that his club is bringing through, and that the Italian manager
wanted to take in the FA Youth Cup game between his side and Arsenal. Ancelotti was, however, put
in his place. With 15,000 [.
Arsene Wenger is a hugely intelligent man, of that there is no doubt. I do think that he has
noticed a flaw in his plans though. Foreign youngsters will always want to return to their homeland
at some point.
However, purchasing English talent, especially from smaller clubs could be even more successful
if the quality of the player matches that of a foreign born youngster.
A few musings ahead of the Birmingham game:
We really need to bring back the energy and pressing we employed to such great effect against
Chelsea, harry Birmingham off the pitch and do not underestimate them at all. They are more than
capable of beating us and really messing up our chances.
Birmingham 0-3 Arsenal - and one very annoyed Lee Bowyer
As you may have been able to tell, my previous two posts were pre-set to publish over the
weekend last Thursday as I was away for a fantastic new years weekend. I hope you enjoyed the
finale of the festive season as well.
So another massive game for us. Whilst it is true to some extent that every game now is massive,
this one is especially important because of where us and City are sitting in the table.
I don't care what anyone says, this is a game that Arsenal must win for a multitude of reason.
United don't look much like losing at the moment, City are title contenders and they are both
sitting above us in the table.

Very unlucky game for Arsenal. We deserved to win but it appears the luck was with Joe Hart and
his posts, check out the more eventful highlights than you would think below:
Arsenal 0-0 City
Cue mass hysteria and the season is now officially over. Do me a favour.
Lets get some perspective on this, sometimes these games happen and there is nothing you can do
about them. City are a title challenging team and anything other than a defeat is by no means a
bad, or terminal, result.
There has been a whole lot of criticism surrounding Andrey Arshavin recently, fans don't like
the way he does not tack back and help out in defence like the other options out on the wings and
his seeming nonchalance on the ball and giving it away too easy. Many don't seem to mind whether he
stays or leaves, however, I think it would be a massive mistake to let him go.

Our second string team weren't up to it; The midfield did not function properly with the Alex
Song and Denilson partnership failing in the centre and Tomas Rosicky appears to have never
regained his spark, he had before his injury woes.
Lets get this straight, its a bad result. We don't really need any extra games right now and we
certainly can't be doing with those types of performances against anyone. We so nearly lost.
However, it may just give the squad a reality check ahead of the game against Ipswich. A lesson
that they can't just turn up to win because that is what I fear, this team has done that so often
over the past few years where the attitude has been that they can just turn up and the opponents
would give them the three points on a silver platter.
With Sebastian Squillaci injured and Thomas Vermaelen suffering yet another setback in training
as he tries to come back from his chronic achillies problem, it is looking increasingly likely that
the manager will have to dip into the January market to sign a center-back.
The manager has been looking at center-backs for over 12 months now, last January Sol Campbell
came back on a short-term deal and the option to re-sign him was there in the summer, but Arsenal
delayed and Sol went off to Newcastle he now wants out of there.
Afternoon all, another dull, grey and cold one.
The news coming out of the club regarding the injury to Thomas Vermaelen isn't good at all, nor
is the news that Sebastian Squillaci will be back so soon has been ruled out for at least two weeks
with a grade one pull of the hamstring. I joke, of course.
U.S. U-17 MNT head coach Wilmer Cabrera and his staff have finalized the 40-player roster for
the Spring 2011 semester of U.S. Soccer's Residency Program. Check out the full release here and
the detailed roster here.
Included in the list are eight veterans of the program who have been there since the Fall 2009
semester - the first of the current cycle.
*Chivas USA striker Justin Braun and former Galaxy defender Ugo Ihemelu have been released from
the U.S. Men's National Team in Carson because of injuries, officials announced today.
Braun sustained a laceration in the region of his left Achilles Tuesday during the morning
training session.
I normally hate capital letters being used to show shouting or a raised tone of voice. That
title isn't so much shouting, more bellowing through a mega-phone.
It's hard to know who is at fault for yesterdays pitiful and frankly disgusting result and
performance, the players certainly. The manager, probably.

One current transfer rumour is highly disturbing: Matthew Upson is one of the defensive options
open to Arsene Wenger.
A few years ago Upson was a decent defender, maintaining his affiliation to Arsenal through a
plethora of injuries throughout his career. The question I have to ask is if Upson wasn't good
enough for us back in 2003 when he was actually a decent defender what makes Arsene think that he
is good enough for us now when he is clearly over the hill?
The issue I spoke about yesterday was complacency, it spreads like a disease. From the training
ground to the football pitch. The display of complacency we saw against Ipswich was nothing new
really and had been seen on countless other occasions this season.
Take a look at Lionel Messi for example.

West Ham 0-3 Arsenal
Yesterday evening we got a tantalising glimpse of the real Arsenal. There is absolutely no point
in going overboard because of a win against the leagues bottom side but everything that had lacked
the previous performances was shown here in abundance. I was the proper Arsenal.
Some of my Twitter followers might have seen a quick message on Saturday giving details about
Samir Nasri carrying an injury.
I was told this on Saturday morning and Nasri has been undergoing a course of treatment over the
last week in a bid to get rid of the problem. The injury is to his ankle and he has been carrying
it for some time now, it got much worse after the Man City draw at home and was in considerable
discomfort after the game.
Not going to be around tomorrow so there are a few things I would like to talk about, as but
first and foremost the upcoming game against Leeds at Elland Road.
Any game against Leeds is one we want to win, to say there is history there would be an
understatement, I'm confident of a win though we need to continue the attitude that we took into
the game against West Ham.
This is sort of two posts pushed into one, I really can't be bothered to do two separate
ones.
The comments that Denilson made about a perceived lack of leadership have been blown massively
off scale, and whilst he should be more careful in what he says, I don't think it was criticism of
Cesc.
Yesterday I spent much of the afternoon checking and double checking some information I received
regarding Eden Hazard and the state of his reported transfer to Arsenal in the summer.
Using a mixture of sources (including information from private discussions with journalists), I
am 100% certain the following information is correct.
Good afternoon! Even more snow today, in RBNY Land, and the last batch hadn't even fully melted
yet. But nevermind that, let's get to some news.
Theirry Henry recently had a training stint with London's Arsenal FC, as he wanted to get a head
start on pre-season training. Now comes word that Rafa Marquez will also do the same by training
with Mexican First Division club Atlas starting this coming Monday.
The rumour-mill may keep turning and turning but the Arsenal FC Chequebook is staying firmly under
lock and key by the look of it. The only real Arsenal transfer news is about players leaving on
loan, though The Goon Blog ran a story about Eden Hazard provisionally agreeing terms to join the
club, with just [.
Welcome to another weekend, for some of you good people it means you can relax, maybe enjoy the
match with a beverage or five. For others it means work. It is the first time in a while where I
will be missing an Arsenal match but I will watch it in full later tonight, probably. As long as we
are not tanked 10-1.
Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Fabregas, Nasri, van Persie,
Walcott
Arsenal 3-0 Wigan (van Persie x3)
That first eleven are mustard. The creativity is unrivalled and we got a sign that they can
create against the big boys against Chelsea, the midfield is the perfect blend, the defence has a
hell of a lot of potential.

We don't care if it is only the Carling Cup. We don't care that it is 'only' Ipswich.
It is a chance to play at Wembley and win ourselves a trophy, any trophy apart from the damn
Emirates Cup! We haven't seen anything silver for five years and its time to put a stop to that
before it reaches six.
Vela has a loan offer from Valencia... as first revealed on here back in November.
Carlos Vela will choose between Valencia and Bolton this week, I was told a little while ago
there was another club in for him, possibly Sevilla, and another English club but I am unsure of
the identity of that team.
This was the image towards the end of our previous final:-
Next month when we play on the same stage, albeit at a different stadium, this team are
determined that picture won't be replicated across the back pages the following day. They have
worked to get to their first Wembley final in a long, long time and if the attitude and
determination of the players last night is anything to go by it will be a successful one.
Reports from a usually reliable Croatian newspaper claim that Arsenal officials have travelled
to Zagreb to sort out the final details of the transfer of versatile young right-back Sime
Vrsaljko. I very much doubt this is correct, however there is certainly interest there and Arsenal
officials have been in Zagreb.
After the performances of both Arsenal and Manchester United this past week, you certainly saw
two teams that have full guns blazing towards a collision clash for supremacy in the English
Premier League.
The Bleacher Report writes that despite popular opinion, perhaps it is Arsenal that has
developed a winning mentality, and not United.
The quickest of quick updates. I have been preparing what is probably one of the lengthiest ever
interviews ever conducted by an Arsenal blogger! The interview took place today and Mark Gonnella
(Communications Director) was the man I spoke to. It will be published in full tomorrow lunchtime
around 1pm.
Mark Gonnella worked at Barclaycard until this summer, when he was earmarked my Arsenal as the
man to be their new communications director. Mark has a background in sports journalism and has
always been a keen football fan. He describes the job as a 'dream'.
I understand this is the first interview he has ever given to any form of the media since he has
been at Arsenal, and he does not plan on doing many more.
