Hello 2010. Hello readers. Pies is back in the saddle, a couple of pounds heavier (thanks
poutine) but no less motivated. So, no messing, first up this year we have some breaky news for
you. Arsenal fans, prepare to weep into your Fair Trade muesli...
My Spanish is sketchy at best I can say "Dos cervezas por favor" in a reasonably convincing
accent but even I can understand the latest headline in Spanish rag AS, which announces with some
confidence that Arsenal midfield starlet Fran Merida has signed for Atletico
Madrid (the club he supported as a kid).
Ther is lots of Arsenal transfer news about today, and the one that has shocked Arsenal fans the
most (from looking at the blogs) is the news that Sol Cambell has been signed on a temporary
contract until the end of the season. I have seen various figures relating to his paypacket, but it
seems [...]

Nicklas Bendtner made his long awaited comeback in an Arsenal shirt yesterday evening at Villa

ground.

Arsenal fans freak out about possible Sol Campbell signing! The Daily Mail posted a rumor about
it. Arsenal fans linked to an article that was basically a tribute to Campbell, but totally could
be read as though he was resigning with the club. And now, maybe 15 minutes later, that article no
longer works (See?

Arsenal fans will have to wait until 4pm on Sunday to see their team, by that time they'll know
all the other results and will be hoping that the team can keep the pressure on the leaders.
Arsene Wenger has previously stated his interest in this winger and now may be the right time to
pounce.

If there was one player currently plying his trade in the Premier League who seems as ideal a
signing as possible who suits Arsene Wenger's style and ethos then it has to be Everton star Steven
Pienaar.
Every season without fail, there's always the rumours and transfer stories relating Cesc Fabregas'
return to Spain. While I'm sure that none of the Arsenal fans would not want to see that day coming
in the next 10 years, it is something that is to be expected. For a player of his calibre and his

Got it wrong v Stoke
After Arsenal's defeat at Stoke today in the FA Cup 4th Round it looks as if its Chelsea's
trophy to lose again this year, with the Blues being the only member of the so-called Big Four left
in the competition. The holders dispatched Preston with ease on Saturday and the absence of Didier
Drogba and Michael Essien has not slowed Carlo Ancelotti's men in their tracks.

Arsenal fans were devastated to see defender Thomas Vermaelen suffer a leg injury against Aston
Villa in midweek, but replacement Sol Campbell insists that he is ready to rise to the occasion in
time for this Sunday's clash between the Gunners and Manchester United.
"I have been training for a long time so if it comes to it, I will have to be ready," said the
recently signed Campbell.
A year ago Arsenal fans welcomed Andrey Arshavin to the club during the January transfer window,
and this time around Arsene Wenger is denying rumors that he is interested in a big name winter
signing.
Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has been linked with a move to Arsenal since the summer, but
Wenger insists a January move is not on the cards.
It's the small things that count. Five years down the line, Arsenal fans may well still be
celebrating the time Fergie said he was too busy and let Gary Neville show Aaron Ramsey around the
training ground. Or, perhaps more importantly, how Arsene Wenger flew Ramsey and his parents out to
Euro 2008 and explained the benefits of little Aaron signing for Arsenal.
This season, Arsenal fans are watching the revival of their former captain William Gallas after
being stripped off the captaincy by the manager.
With a new partner in central defence in Thomas Vermaelen, both has been outstanding this season
with 9 goals scored between them. With this revival, Arsene Wenger is to hand a new contract to
William Gallas.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that he see's similarities between himself and Gunners

better.
Arsene Wenger has yet again assured that Arsenal fans that he is looking for players in every
position (yeah right!) and compares the transfer market to a fishing trip, but it looks like his
only signing will be a very old fish in Sol Campbell! "We are open to new players coming in, and in

My apologies for the late one today, though I'm not as late as I thought I'd be. I know it was
very inconsiderate due to events last night, however, if you read the comments on yesterdays blog
you'll know why, and if not, I was sacked under the guide of 'redundancy' and thought I'd have a
lie in seeing as I didn't have to get up at 5am to go into a shit-hole.
Arsenal fans will be reassuring themselves today that the manager knows what he is doing in
bringing 35-year-old Sol Campbell back to the club. They reassured themselves of the same thing
when Mikael Silvestre signed and we warned of his calamitous ways, although will likely side with
United fans on that one now.
Wenger is desperate to bring a striker to the Emirates, will this one do?

Arsenal Keen On Croatian Striker Mario Mandzukic
Arsene Wenger's hunt for a new striker has reportedly led him to Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb forward
Mario Mandzukic, accroding to the Mail on Sunday.
Shame on you if you didn't catch her debut last weekend, LadyArse returns with this
weeks instalment...
It was a strange week for Arsenal fans. With no mid-week match, all we had to entertain
ourselves with was the protracted transfer of Arsenal old boy Sol Campbell.
As Arsenal fans, I think that we are blessed. Maybe not so much during the Graham reign but
definitely during the Wenger era. From Bergkamp to Vieira to Henry, we've had truly world-class
players that would walk right into any team in the world. Players that on their day, defines the
outcome of any match.

Arsene Wenger came out and apologized for the mistimed tackle by William Gallas. How many
managers do that!? He also gave a very objective analysis of that particular incident and quite a
few others from the two games with Bolton. But if you read reports covering the press conference,
most of the headlines are saying "Angry Wenger" or "Wenger Hits Out" and things like that.

Stoke City battled past a second string Arsenal outfit to make it through to the fifth round of

It has been a good week for Arsenal fans with the Gunners moving to the top of the
Premier League albeit only for a few days. Lets find out what our LadyArse has to say about
it...
Had you just landed from another planet, you would be forgiven for not realising that Arsenal
played two very physical, hard-fought matches, home and away, against a Bolton side which can only
be call 'thuggish' on a good day in the past week as well as an FA Cup tie.
Arsenal fans may still be reeling from the effects of a frustrating 3-1 defeat that knocked
their team out of the FA Cup at Stoke City on Sunday afternoon. Truthfully, though, there is
absolutely no time to complain. Starting with a challenging trip to The Midlands to face Aston
Villa tomorrow, the Gunners will go through a two week stretch that will put them through a litmus
test as they prepare to face all of the Premier League's toughest teams in consecutive
fixtures.
Since being dumped out of the FA Cup by Stoke on Sunday, there has been different reactions from
the various Arsenal fans forum which I'm active in and thought that I might as well pick up that
topic tonight. On one side there's the acceptance that there is a bigger cups on offer which
requires [...]
For five seasons Arsenal has been all but out the race of winning the Premier League title with
a country mile still left to run. Now the opportunity has arisen and to the challenge of bidding
for a 14th league championship. 4 games, 2 weeks against the best of what English football has to
offer that will shape and define a season and the credentials of Arsene's young guns.
Manchester United vs Arsenal
Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
Monday 13th December 2010
20:00 BST
Moved to a Monday night to presumably suit Murdoch and his minions, Manchester will play host to
one of the biggest games of the season so far as the Premier League's top two face off under the
Old Trafford floodlights for the first time this campaign.
This is a historic post of sorts for me. It is the first time I've ever posted something up in
another location, other than mi casa. Currently I'm in a small internet cafe in central london.
Well, not everyone has the privilege to own a smartphone. Normally if I'm travelling I would pass
up the chance to put up a post but we are playing Utd and I just had to give my two cents.
