With the January transfer window looming, fans around the world are already rubbing their hands
in expectation.
The Arsenal fans have chose Dennis Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle in 2002 as the best goal of
the DECADE. I just had to put that in capitals because to be awarded an accolade like that is a
tribute indeed. His first place won an amazing 34% of the vote, ahead of Thierry Henry's brilliant
effotf against [.
Arsene Wenger is clearly an intelligent man and brilliant manager. However, in the light of his
team's 3-0 home humbling to Chelsea, he runs the risk of damaging his considerable credibility.
Read on to find out why...
In the build-up to this vital match, Wenger issued a call to arms for his players – they can
no longer be considered a young team; now is the time to deliver against the league leaders.

Before I start - this is not a rant, nor is it a critical analysis of our youth system or our
manager. I think we have the best manager in the world and also the best youth set-up in the world,
but and it is a big but, as in everything in life there are flaws, and this post is about a certain
flaw- AKA Theo Walcott.
Liverpool and Arsenal fans haven't had a lot to cheer about recently. After a great start to the
campaign, we've fallen away with losses at Sunderland and, most painfully, at home to Chelsea,
while Liverpool are out of the Champions League and struggling to ensure they appear at Europe's
top table again next season.
He was a major doubt for the game early of the week. 24 hours before the game, he was declare 50:50
by the manager, and few hours before the match he was declare fit to sit on the bench; not in the
starting 11.
First half of the game saw Villa defended well (as did Arsenal), but Arsenal failed to establish
any goals although they did control the game.
Every time this current batch of the Arsenal team goes on to lose or draw a game from a winning
position, pundits are quick to jump on the case citing a lack of maturity. How these players are
not experienced enough to hold on to the lead. How their tender years have allowed the game to slip
their grasp.
What's in Butt's Brain today...
- The Aston Villa - Liverpool game was fun to watch with the heavy snowfall at Villa Park... Big
flurries coming down on the likes of Benayoun (Israel) and Lucas (Brazil) - players who probably
have no idea how to deal with these snowy conditions as they grew up in deserts / beaches.
So Wenger, normally pretty cagey when it comes to issues of the chequebook, came out yesterday
and admitted that he was in the market for a striker in January.
This can only, of course, be good news. It'll boost (and in some cases, spur on) his players,
and it will come as welcome news to those Arsenal fans who consider us light in a few
departments.
Here Comes The 'Whore'!
It's never a happy time when the team you support isn't doing well on the field of play.
November has been a horrible month for Arsenal fans and I believe most people are glad to see its
back. Now it will soon be December and fans want to see an evidence of a change in fortune – like
progressing to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.
Regardless of your view of 'Henry'gate,' for Arsenal fans, the news that FIFA are to investigate
his handball with views towards possibly banning him from the start of the World Cup group matches
must surely resonate after how Eduardo was treated.
While the line between Eduardo and Henry is vast (one is dubious, the other clear cheating) the
fact is both were charged after the event using video evidence FIFA/UEFA refuse to allow during the
original 90 minutes and plan to punish the player with a punishement far in excess of what would
have happened had the referee spotted the incident.
The jinx is ended. A semi-final awaits - and against United no less.
Our own lack of confidence ahead of the game was certainly shared by Arsenal fans, but we needn't
have worried. Given some of our implosions at this stage of cup competitions in recent times a
comfortable victory feels somewhat strange, but satisfying nonetheless.
Wenger puts insane speculation to bed!

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has laughed off talk linking him with a shock move for former
Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Last Sunday evening a number of Chelsea and Arsenal fans were involved in a fracas at Mitcham
Eastfields station in South London, and police are appealing for witnesses so they can apprehend
the hooligans. It seems the fight started on the 20.36 from Victoria and then spilled out into
Mitcham stations, and then out onto the [.
The stage is well and truly set. What a weekend for Arsenal fans so far! Title challengers have
dropped points as Chelsea were held at home and United defeated in their own backyard. Top four
contenders Citeh march on in their quest for the all time record for drawing matches and the tiny
Tots just gave us another chuckle.
The unexpected news that Arsene Wenger has declared he will try to sign a striker in January
must have floored most Arsenal fans. The Frenchman doesn't usually make any claims let alone buys
in the transfer window.
Even if Robin Van Persie wasn't out for the season, I still really felt Arsenal had to buy.
After the Sunday Big win, Arsene Wenger gave a standing ovation to the whole team for their
outstanding performance in the second-half.
Every Arsenal fans witnessed the poor display of the team in the first-half. Astray passing,
flapping keeper, bad defending, and poor attacking. With this performance, the manager showed the
team the "Other" side of him during half-time.
I had started to write my open to this post today by saying what Arsenal fans might want for the
holidays mainly a goalkeeper, and some more firepower and depth.
Then I thought, maybe I will do an Xmas list for every club in the Premier League.
So look for that to come next week if I get around to it.
I was quite frustrated after the Burnley result as you must have noticed from my review. But I
didn't say the title hopes were over and if you are a regular reader you will have noticed that I
am extremely pro-Arsene and have always talked about keeping the faith.
Over the last couple of days I have read some articles and comments talking about how our hopes
are over and many of our players are completely useless.

Hull City visit the Grove for the first time since the FA Cup game back in March. We all know
what happened and what was alleged to have happened afterwards and while Arsene Wenger is willing
to leave it all in the past I'm sure Arsenal fans won't be slow to let Phil Brown and his
assistant, Brian Horton, know what they think of him and his team.
As news filters through that Stan Kroenke has purchased 25 more shares of Arsenal Football Club
edging him closer to the 30% threshold for the mandatory takeover bid, it has become apparent to
the fans that they might be looking at the future owner of the club.
Having Kroenke as the owner of the club will not be bad.
Hello there, still bloody freezing here. Almost too cold for blogging but I suppose I can muster
a quick Christmas Eve round-up.
Despite Samir Nasri escaping further punishment for the little kick on Garcia in the Hull game,
the FA have charged both us and them for 'failing to control their players'.
Maddy's Note: Today was one of those days. A day when all Arsenal fans
reached for the jersey that they all own and lovingly kissed the crest. A day when fans of every
other team in Europe wished the Magician who is Francesc Fabregas Soler was a part of their squad
sheet.
The Arsenal FC midfielder Abou Diaby was slated by all and sundry in the early part of this season,
but the Arsenal fans are now starting to warm to him after a couple of brilliant performances over
Christmas, and the Frenchman believes that is now "blossoming" after a difficult start to his
career at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger is nothing if not strategic. To those who follow the professor closely, today's
announcement that Nicklas Bendtner is still three weeks away was no surprise. In the next day or
two, I would expect an announcement that Cesc Fabregas will need another couple of weeks to fully
recover.
Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday that Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner, who has been out since
October 31st, will still have to sit out another 3 weeks. In recent weeks it seems Nicklas has been
cursed with injury as he has aimed to come back twice but has had two surgeries on a hernia problem
also a groin problem but he finally is on his way back to full recpvery.
