Arsenal 7 (Seven)-1 Blackburn Rovers Premier League 4th February 2012
After a sustained period of dismal performances and almost no points, Arsenal needed to
rediscover their mojo on Saturday if they were to stay in the hunt for a top-four finish.
Arsenal striker Andrei Arshavin yesterday revealed that the lack of regular playing time was a
major factor that influenced his decision to leave the club. Having made only a handful of
appearances for the Gunners this season (most of them from the bench), Arshavin said that he was
happy with his return to his old club.

Well we all know that feeling. You come home Friday afternoon from work. But you have a cold
feeling a bit shacking, a bit feverish. You then go to bed [.
Hopefully you're still feeling a warm glow from Saturday's impressive win over Blackburn
Rovers.
It has certainly calmed some of the pitchfork-and-torch brigade who were on the march after the
0-0 at Bolton.
They may not have had the imagination or panache to use pitchforks and torches, but they had
their bin bags and were still determined to march on Castle Emirates and demand the head of Baron
von Wengerstein.
This is what the new Arsenal home shirt for next season looks like, Arsenalinsider can
exclusively reveal. As in previous years, we have been given the first sneak peak at how Arsene
Wenger's players will look in the latest offering from the club and manufacturers Nike.
We've been right every time in the past and we stand by this image, such is the strength of
belief in our source.
What a big win, and a big loss! Conceding the goal in that manner added another chapter to the
special Arsenal edition of 101 Extraordinary Ways To Concede A Goal. While the remarkable
comeback in extremely trying circumstances completely countered the impact of that goal in the
short term, the injury to Mertesacker will make the future games all the more challenging.

Football fans like nothing better than to point to conspiracy theories and referee bias in
order to blame somebody for their team's failings.
However, in the north London derby on Sunday, man-in-the-middle Mike Dean seems to celebrate a
Tottenham goal courtesy of a little skip and a jump of joy when Louis Saha nets the opener.
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has launched a scathing attack on Andrei Arshavin, arguing that the
Russian International striker no longer cares about playing for Arsenal. Arshavin was at fault for
Manchester United's winning goal against Arsenal recently, and Lawro believes it's time for the
player to leave the Emirates.
All Premiership clubs have to name their playing squad for the rest of the season at the end of the
January transfer window, and Arsenal have released their list today. On the goalkeeping side,
Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski and even Vito Mannone are included but Wenger hasn't even
bothered putting Manuel Almunia on the list [.
The way the transfer window in the summer of 2011 at Arsenal was handled, let alone this
January,...

When I woke up bleary-eyed and desperate of coffee this morning my first thought was "Why do I
wake up so early for the impending doom that is Arsenal?" I turned my TV on and was greeted by the
image of Arsene Wenger walking onto the pitch and a great view of the skyline above the Emirates
Stadium, leading me to think, "At least it looks beautiful out there.

Currently doing a spot of pre-season training in Spain with new club Shanghai Shenhua, Le Sulk,
Nicolas Anelka, has described the hell he had to endure during his final days at Chelsea.
When Arsenal brought club legend Thierry Henry back for a short loan spell, they probably
thought he would provide a morale boost for the squad and impart a bit of wisdom to the youngster.
In addition to that, the 34-year-old striker has actually been a spark on the pitch and scored two
match-winning goals to keep Arsenal alive in the FA Cup and propel them into fourth place in the
Premier League.

Arsenal fans will not have found much to smile about at the San Siro last night, but they might
have been able to raise a bit of a smirk for this banner (if their Italian was up to scratch). AC
Milan supporters held up a banner suggesting that he "trumpeted" the Queen. Apparently, that's

News from Singapore that one of the ex Arsenal trainees who joined Geylang United has been dropped
before he could kick a ball in anger.
Oliver Nicholas came over to Singapore to take part in trials conducted by the Singapore Football
Association along with several other hopefuls and Geylang must have seen enough because they signed
him up.
It shouldn't come as any surprise that the same twenty-five in clubs from last week's rankings are
all in this week's edition. That's been pretty standard recently. Nevertheless, there was more
movement than usual this week because of movement at or near the top of the tables in several of
Europe's top leagues.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that going four games without a win is frustrating but
believes that a top-four finish remains achievable as long as the Gunners make an early impact on
their matches.
Last night's goalless draw at Bolton left Wenger's side in seventh place, five points behind
fourth-place Chelsea and another seven behind bitter cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur in
third.
In September, I wrote how Fox Sports choice to show Barclay's Premier League games on tape delay
was a brilliant idea. Two weekends ago, Fox took it the next level by showing Manchester United vs.
Arsenal live as a lead into the NFL Conference Championship Games. Sure the rating where not great.
According to ESPN, the match was seen by 1.
It seems odd to me, but over the last few weeks I've seen Aaron Ramsey come in for a lot of
criticism, especially on the angst-spewing machine that is Twitter. The main bone of contention
seems to be that he has become an automatic first XI pick for Arsene this year, despite the fact
that he has not contributed enough to the team.
After a disappointing start to this calender year, Arsenal were finally able to secure their
first Premier League win of 2012, picking up 3 vital points against Blackburn Rovers in a 7-1
demolition at The Emirates.
Once again, Robin van Persie showed just how important he is to this Arsenal side scoring three
and making two others during a numbingly-cold afternoon in North London.
FOX delivered a 1.0 overnight rating for its February 5, 2002 live broadcast of Chelsea against
Manchester United. The rating is higher than the 0.9 that Arsenal against Manchester United
generated, but lower than the 1.3 rating for the November...

There are some mind blowing quotes from Arsene Wenger in Tuesday's Daily Mirror.
Arsene Wenger is quoted as talking about how much he likes Lille's £30m-rated Eden Hazard, but
he basically says that Hazard is too expensive for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has been following the rise of Eden Hazard ever since he was a teenager at the Lille
Academy in 2005, and it has always been assumed that Wenger would bring him to Arsenal as soon as
he could. But now Hazard is 21 years-old and one of the most sought-after players in Europe, [...]

After that emphatic drubbing of Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal face a tricky trip to the Stadium of
Light to face a rejuvenated Sunderland side who are currently eighth in the table, just seven
points behind Arsenal. Sunderland have been in great form since the arrival of new boss Martin
O'Neil and one could assume that the [.
FOX's live airing of Chelsea against Manchester United on February 5, 2012 delivered an average 0.8
rating with 1.377 million viewers, which was approximately 119,000 viewers more than the viewing
figures for the Arsenal versus Manchester United...

As you may have seen at the weekend, faced with the prospect of having to chase down Sunderland
whippet James McLean, Per Mertesacker's ankle gave up the ghost and tucked itself underneath the
rest of the lithe German in a bid to get out of the way as the Irish winger hurtled through to
score the opener.
On Saturday morning, I saw the list of potential managers for the England National Team now that
it finds itself without a coach. The Euro 2012 is not too far away now, and the eyes of the world
are on England, waiting to see who will take the helm amidst the international controversy. I
couldn't help but wonder that Arsene's name was on the list, so I had to do a bit of digging to
determine the probability of his being selected for the coveted job.
Good news for Coach Allegri and Milan fans as Alessandro Nesta, Kevin Prince Boateng and Alexa
Pato all resumed training today ahead of their Champions League first leg knockout match against
Arsenal on Wednesday.
With both teams coming off late winners in their weekend league fixtures, it will be interesting
to see how they both approach the game.

There isn't much to analyze in such a game. Or you could say there is so much to analyze that
one could write a book.
This wasn't a great Milan side but it was tactically and technically far superior to Arsenal. It
isn't often that one sees a game where the opponent deserves a 4-0 win over Arsenal but in this one
there could be few grudges, even if one of the goals was off-side (which I am not sure of
anyway).
Milan was the venue for Arsenal's travelling support as they went to Italy to cheer the boys on
against a genuine European giant in AC Milan. Unfortunately, some of the travelling hoard managed
to take things a little too far, and there were nasty scenes before the game between fans and
police, after which one Arsenal fan was arrested.
Ted Bundy was executed by the electric chair but I honestly think I was more shocked than him when
I saw this monstrosity of a kit that Nike have supposedly designed for Arsenal's 2012/13
campaign.
Now I understand that this 'leaked' design could be faker than Pamela Anderson's fake knockers but,
if it is real, are Nike sure?

Sunderland 2-0 Arsenal
In a straw text poll before the match last night, I asked 7 people whether it was going to be W, D
or L at the Stadium of Light. Four went for a win, two for a draw (one of which was me) and two for
a defeat. It just goes to show that optimism often triumphs over despair, despite most of the
evidence stacking up against it.
