Pies has got its greasy hands on some exclusive pics of Everton's new loan signing
Landon Donovan being welcomed at Goodison, after the Toffees' FA Cup win against
Carlisle...

I'm very interested in seeing how this move pans out.
Most of you probably watched Landon Donovan's debut appearance for Everton this morning in the
game against Arsenal. On sister site EPL Talk, I have an article analyzing Donovan's performance in
addition to Kartik Krishnaiyer's review on this site. But what did the English press think of his
performance?
Seattle Sounders FC designated player Freddie Ljungberg has shot back at the club regarding their
reaction to his absence from the opening day of training camp on Monday. The former Arsenal great
posted a statement to his personal website just minutes ago that reads as follows:
"Just reading in Seattle Times that SSFC coaches doesn't (sic) know about my arrival, which
surprises me.
It's only one game, but judging by Landon Donovan's debut for Everton against Arsenal on
Saturday, the American playmaker easily fit in to playing at the highest level in the best soccer
league in the world.
Donovan started for Everton and played 68 minutes for the Toffees. During that time, Donovan
created several chances for Everton, as well as getting an assist on Everton's first goal as he
floated a perfectly stuck corner into the box for Leon Osman to score with an incisive header.
Charles N'Zogbia is in the form of his life and with 2 doubles in GW26 and GW30 this lad could
prove incredible value. He has knocked home three goals in the last six games that Wigan have
played, and has two double gameweeks coming up in gameweek 26 and gameweek 30. Wigan's runs of
fixtures is also appealing, the toughest opposition between now and March being Tottenham at home.
Saturday morning Landon Donovan will arrive in Goodison Park to begin his loan spell with
Everton. As he settles into his seat and watches his new team take on Carlisle United in the FA
Cup, he will be working on his checklist of what he wants to accomplish over the next 75 days.
This loan spell at Everton, along with his performance in South Africa this summer, will be
critical in determining the future direction of Donovan's career, and he knows there are a number
of boxes he needs to check in order to make this loan a success.
U.S. international star Landon Donovan has arrived in England and made his first public
appearance today for Everton, the club he has joined on loan for the next 10 weeks.
Donovan arrived at Goodison Park for the second half of the Toffees FA Cup win against Carlisle.
He flew in to Manchester Airport on Saturday morning and then made the journey to Liverpool
according to Everton FC.
According to the daily update on Everton's website it looks like Landon Donovan will be making his
debut for the club against Arsenal on Saturday.
Landon Donovan continued his tremendous form for Everton FC in the English Premier League, making a
significant contribution in their 2-0 victory over Manchester City.
Donovan played 91 minutes (he was subbed during stoppage time), and received rave reviews from the
British media.
The Telegraph reported that,
"The Landon Donovan appreciation society was growing, too,
chorusing 'USA' with gusto when the American broke away from Vincent Kompany, only to direct his
chip wide.
You can see other people. It's fine with me. This relationship is open, I understand that...

Russian's fashion statement thwarted Yoink! Arsene Wenger wants all the post-match attention to be
on his team selection and the subsequent humiliating defeat, not some silly Russian attacker taking
to the pitch wearing his woolly hat.
If I hadn't read it in the Guardian I would have just laughed, but they have made a serious
accusation against Arsene Wenger. They reckon that the Arsenal manager said after his team's win at
Portsmouth on Wednesday that Chelsea and and Carlo Ancelotti "will drop points and steadily implode
over the remainder of the season [.
Just in case anyone was wondering about your favorite new U.S. export, Landon Donovan, he will
land ashore at England's northwest port city on Saturday, but he will not participate in the club's
third round FA Cup match against Carlisle United.
"Landon arrives at the Club tomorrow," manager David Moyes told Everton's official web site non
Friday.
As both an Arsenal fan and a longtime Los Angeles Galaxy season ticket holder, I have been asked
how I reconcile my support for two different teams. I always reply that supporting Arsenal and
the Galaxy is like having two friends who are destined never to meet. This Saturday at the
Emirates, that quip will be forever buried as my beloved Arsenal takes on Everton who will likely
feature Landon Donovan, the captain of my beloved Galaxy.

Arsenal is crouched in the shadows just waiting to pounce...
... and is 4 points out of the top of the Premier League table and they've officially made it
look like a 3-team race. Earlier it had seemed that Tottenham or Aston Villa would make mighty
challengers for Chelsea and ManU but now it is evident that Arsenal intends to stand its ground and
not budge out of the Top 3 in order to give last year's finalists a run for their money.
Transfers, those are hard. Many times it just so happens that the player you transferred out, the
one that didn't score in 8 last games, scores a hatrick. How did that happen...? Trust me, I know
the feeling. In Fantasy Premier League, it is however impossible to do good, without the right
transfers in the right time.
What's your damage, Arsenal? Why must your antics make us LOL to the point where our Diet Coke
ends up in our noses?
Better than Prozac, you are. If it's not the trouserless club nights, it's the furry animal
costume videos.
Just what the hell did Nicky do? Perhaps they're fighting over who gets to nurse Vermaelen back
to health.

Man Utd recently published a summary of their 2009 financial statements. I thought it will be
interesting to look at how the clubs compare financially. Since their summary is only a two page
document it's not possible to do a detailed analysis but we can definitely compare the incomes of
the two clubs.

Denilson has the smallest head of any Premier League footballer. That's a cold,
hard fact.
But why? I reckon it's because he was deprived of key nutrients whilst growing up in the
poverty-stricken favelas of Sao Paulo.
US striker Clint Dempsey is in the form of his life right now with Fulham. The American has
solidified a role in the attack for Fulham and to his credit scored one of the goals of the season
Tuesday night in the Premier League game against Stoke City.
You could say that Dempsey is showing Landon Donovan how to make a mark in England.
Landon Donovan may not have put all the doubts to rest, but on a frigid day in North London, he
clearly showed that he has the skills to play against a top team in a top league. Everton
should have strolled out of the Emirates with all three points against Arsenal, but a few lucky
bounces for the Gunners gave them a share of the winnings in the 2-2 draw.
By 1970's GoonerIt was the first game without Song and against decent opposition who recognised
that Arsenal's key weaknesses were in midfield and at left back.Everton's tactics were spot on.
They did not show respect and took the game to Arsenal by pressing up field whenever Gallas and
Vermaelen had the ball.
Landon Donovan made his impression felt with his first opportunity in the English Premier League.
Getting the start for Everton against Arsenal, he played 69 minutes, setup the first goal from a
corner kick in the 12th-minute, and looked like someone who had more than a week's training in bad
weather.
Think back to to 2006... it was a good year for Philippe Senderos. The young centre-half, whom
Arsene had signed way back in 2002 when he was a coveted prospect, started half of the club's
league matches and became a regular in central defense as Sol Campbell neared the end of the first
part of his Arsenal career.

Hello 2010. Hello readers. Pies is back in the saddle, a couple of pounds heavier (thanks

My Spanish is sketchy at best I can say "Dos cervezas por favor" in a reasonably convincing

Madrid (the club he supported as a kid).
Title Race
I wrote before the season started that I expected Chelsea to win the title, and I still stand by
that. It is turning out to be a really interesting title race this year as none of the top teams
are as dominant as in previous years, which means everyone drops points.
The Game It would have been very problematic to have two games cancelled in a row. Luckily, today's
game is on and this means we have a golden opportunity to move to just one point from ...
Landon Donovan isn't waiting long to take his chance during his new loan with Everton.
The U.S. national team star is starting for the Toffees today in their match against Arsenal.
Donovan just joined Everton but has apparently made enough of an impression to get the start.
Everton-Arsenal is just one of the matches you can watch today.
Although EPL types don't really count assists.
The final score: 2-2 with Arsenal equalizing in second half stoppage time.
The Galaxy's Donovan looks good in blue. Here Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin attempts to hold him off
in today's game in London, one of the few to survive England's deep freeze.
The Game Based on what we saw this afternoon, this is a very important point won rather than two
precious lost points. Everton came to the Emirates with no intention whatsoever to sit back and
