There are several clubs who were left on the altar, so to speak, with respect to a few big signings
this summer. Liverpool lost out on Barry, Real Madrid lost out on Ronaldo, Chelsea and United may
still lose out on Robinho and Berbatov, Tottenham reportedly lost out on Villa (although to be fair
they [.
Arsenal are thought to be in the hunt to sign American wonderkid Charles Renken after the
14-year-old impressed at a trial with the Gunners. The teenage sensation is one of the hottest
young properties in the game and is also understood to have trained with Reading and German side
1860 Munich. Born in Zambia, Renken was adopted [.
So, the transfer deadline (August 31) has passed and the football market is now closed. Closed? Not
quite. Indeed, while transfers from one club to another will have to wait until January to resume,
teams may still sign players as free agents (and that until March 31, 2009). So, inspired from this
Top 11 Serie A [.
It has long been said that soccer is a young mans game and that the game seems to be getting
"younger" all the time. In a sport where you are old at age 30 and most likely finished
by age 34 there is a continuing emphasis on younger and younger players. Arsene Wenger at Arsenal
seems to be a master of knowing just when a young player is ready to step in to his first team
line-up, his nurturing and development of Theo Walcott just the latest of several examples.
Dean Windass is set for showdown talks with Hull boss Phil Brown after being left out of the side
for the 2-2 draw with Everton. Writing for his ITV blog, the veteran striker has expressed his
frustration at not being part of Brown's plans and says of this weekend's clash with Arsenal:
"Whether I'll be involved [.
In preparation for every game, Arsene Wenger gives his players a motivational handout that helps to
focus his team on the task ahead. A copy of the handout was found in a Bolton hotel for this past
weekend's 3-1 win by Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium. Here's a transcript of what the handout said:
Confidential Team meeting [.
Many stories doing the rounds indicate that Arsenal have wrapped up the signature of Sporting
Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso for £15M. Veloso has been on many clubs radar including
Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton and AC Milan. Veloso is 22 years old and is a dynamic central
midfielder who can replicate the energy and creativity that has [.
The Premiership woke up this morning to a lot of excitement. Everton fans were celebrating breaking
their transfer record, West Ham fans were incredulous that they had sold half their defence without
replacing them, Liverpool fans were "overjoyed" at signing two foreign 18 year olds to
add to their increasing collection of foreign 18 year olds, [.
Obviously the true bargains won't be known for some time, but there were a few transfers which
caught the eye before the participants had even put on their new shirt. Eliminating loans made sure
somebody has actually bought up the entire contract this summer, and everyone of these guys
happened to come in at under [.
In football, one's man loss is another man's gain; in this case, Juventus' loss could be Arsenal's
gain. It has been reported in the Italian press that 21-year old starlet Sebastian Giovinco is
eagerly considering joining the Premier League high flyers if he continues to be sidelined.
Giovinco is regarded as one .
What does it say about Arsenal when their reserve team last night beat Sheffield United 6-0 in the
Carling Cup? Maybe the tournament should be renamed the Arsenal Youngsters Cup? Here are some of
the impressive young starlets who played last night: Kieran Gibbs. Midfielder, 18 years old, only
made his second appearance for Arsenal last night.
Sadly, we could've turned this thing into an all-Prem list, but did our best to look elsewhere.
Didn't turn out so well. The problem is so many sums paid in the Premiership dwarf that of those in
other leagues - Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, etc. - that it can make their normally [...]
This is 14 year old Spanish wunderkind Gerard Deulofeu. Not sure why he's a wunderkind as he's not
even remotely German. Maybe because he's got blond hair? He's actually Spanish, and is currently on
Barcelona's books. But not for long, if either Chelsea or Arsenal get their way. How pissed would
Barcelona be to lose yet [.
The world is being set alight by ever younger players, and they will be the superstars of the
future. I have handpicked 18 players (11 starters and 7 subs) for the team of the future. GK: Igor
Akinfeev (Russia, CSKA Moscow, 22) At age 22, the Russian goalie is still young but is already
world-class, and his [.
At some point, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have been linked with Ajax striker Klaas
Jan Huntelaar. Most would say that United remained the only potential destination, but even that
looks unlikely now that Ajax have ruled out selling the...
The rankings are back after a one week delay, due to an executive member of the ranking committee
being on holiday. With the national teams taking center stage this weekend it allowed us some time
to catch up. While the top quarter of the table didn't change much, there was ample movement in the
middle third.
Not everyone is too impressed by the highs of Arsenal and Chelsea. After all, there are bigger and
better clubs than the two London rivals - FC Barcelona for one. Barcelona wizkid Gerard Deulofeu
certainly thinks so. He has been linked with a move to Arsenal as well as Chelsea but ...
It's been a quiet day for Arsenal. Not a lot of rumors and no signings as of right now. Rumors have
sparked up though that Miguel Veloso could be coming to Arsenal. The Portuguese midfielder has been
linked off an...
Carlos Vela - Hat Trick hero of Sheffield's 6 - 0 (video) nightmare against Arsenal - praises
Arsene Wenger for his unquestionable faith in Arsenal's youngsters.
"The reputation of Arsene Wenger was the main thing that brought me here to Arsenal. He is
very well known for this," said Vela.
Moving away from tomorrows League game against Bolton. Here's a couple of pics which should get
some fans laughing - take a look at this. From Redstate: Manchester United is arguably the largest
sports team in the world and its team shirt is recognized just about everywhere. Emblazoned on the
front is the logo of the team's [.
According to this source, Wenger is all set to make a last-gasp move for this international
midfielder who is also being chased by Manchester United and Tottenham. Don't forget to check out

Miguel Veloso as the transfer .
I wasn't going to post anything else today over here. But, um. Nick Hornby's latest post is pretty
much made of awesome and reflects a lot of what I (and other fans) feel. Granted, I haven't
supported Arsenal (or any team) for 40 years (mostly because I'm not 40). But I don't think that
makes my feels on the issue any less valid.
I have never been a fan of Robin Van Persie's 13-year-old boy flicked fringe, but this season it
seems to have got bigger and developed a life of its own. The flick is getting itself into angles
that my protractor can't reach. Look at him against Blackburn, for instance. The flick is actually
going backwards, [.
Arsenal moved smoothly to the top of the Premier League and Right Result table with an impressive
win at Bolton Wanderers. All did not go according to script at their former bogey ground though...
Emmanuel Eboue netted his first league goal for the Gunners but the Ivorian's equaliser should have
been ruled out for offside.
1. Bring back Martin Jol and Sam Allardyce Hamburg are currently top of the Bundesliga under Martin
Jol. Spurs are currently bottom of the Premier League under Juande Ramos. Newcastle's league
position when Sam Allardyce was "left by mustual consent": 11th. Newcastle's league
position today: 19th. 2.
The transfer deadline has now passed, but there is still no news from Arsenal as to who they have
signed, if anybody. Lots of speculation but at this moment, Wenger does not appear to have
added to the squad. Today has been overshadowed by Manchester City, their new ownership and their
£34M transfer of Robinho, who [.

Online Football Manager! EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR refused to get on a Togo team plane because he feared it
would CRASH! The flight bound for Zambia left without the Arsenal striker. He had persuaded his

I'm not an Arsenal fan. I'm not French. I'm not even a former Arsene Wenger pupil. But dammit, he's
spot on when he talks about negotiation tricks and the lack of any genuine complaint from
Tottenham's end on their players being tapped up. The Arsenal manager (referring to the
Chelsea-Ashley Cole-Arsenal saga): "We faced that problem once and [.
1. (Last week: 1). Chelsea
Hey, what happened to all the Man Utd fans who were complaining because their team wasn't #1? The
Soccer Source ranking committee once again proved its mettle with the choice of Chelsea, which is
suddenly not looking very controversial after Blues saw off Man. City Saturday.
Football must be a pretty good way to advertise your company. We all know that Emirates sponsor
Arsenal, AIG sponsor Manchester United, Samsung at Chelsea and Carlsberg at Liverpool. But did you
know that Beko sponsor Watford or Fraser Eagle sponsor Accrington Stanley? Just how much money is
to be made by sponsoring or advertising [.
The transfer window closed at midnight last night and our inactivity in the market has been
overshadowed by the £65M transfers completed in Manchester last night. But the market is
not completely closed, though the options are few and far between. Wenger can still sign a couple
of players, that is players who are free agents.
Following Alan Curbishley's departure from West Ham yesterday, his transfer policy at the club has
come under increased scrutiny. Soccerlens has rounded up Curbishley's worst forays into the
transfer market. 1. Freddie Ljungberg from Arsenal Curbishley should have known that sneaky Arsene
Wenger only sells his stars when they are past it.
Midfield powerhouse Stephen Appiah is set to sort out his club future this week with Premier League
side West Ham now the new favourites to acquire the Ghana international. Appiah, 27, played for
Ghana on Friday evening and came-on after 22 minutes to replace Michael Essien and make his return
to fitness, in his nation's World [.
There are rumours circulating that Wenger may be set for a big midfielder move in January and this
Barcelona man has always looked like a player who would one day play for the north London club.

Arsenal 6 - 0 Sheffield United Carling Cup 3rd Round
What an absolute wanker. I know I'm a day or two late on this but I'm busy sometimes too. This man,
who somehow weaseled his way into the job of Uefa President just because he used to be a great
player, should be removed from the game. If you haven't heard, Platini went on a rant attacking our
manager Arsene Wenger.
Neither wind nor rain nor stock market crashes nor presidential debates could keep the Top 25
ranking committee from convening for its weekly session. Sure, we're a bit late (we know you like
to have these things in your inbox Monday morning so you can kick off the "work" week in
fashion) but we make up for it with an extremely high quality edition of the rankings--even by our
absurdly high standards.
Speculation is rife that this former Juventus man is about to make a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal and West Ham have already been closely linked with a move for this out of contract star but
now it appears that Juande Ramos may well be lining up a move. Don't ...
Steve Morrow has a new job and has resigned from FC Dallas. Morrow has taken a position with
