By 1970's Gooner Tresor Mputu's performances were so impressive for his club TP Mazembe and for his
country DR Congo that a host of local and foreign clubs have been very keen to sign him. The list
includes Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns and also three Belgian teams as well as Bayern
Munich. Mputu, 21, has reportedly already had trials in France and Belgium.
Arsenal's new third kit, a stripey affair (in 'redcurrant and obsidian', or, for plain-speaking
folk, 'dark red and blue-black'), that puts me in mind of the classic Barcelona kit, is launched on
August 9th, although you can pre-order it now from Arsenal's online shop. I have to admit I think
it's rather smart, at least a lot nicer than Arsenal's dodgy white away kit.
Despite having scored the most goals of any team in the Premiership so far this season, Arsenal
coach Arsene Wenger seems to be in hot pursuit of another striker or two.
21 year-old Congo striker Tresor Mputu is currently on trial with the Gunners, and Wenger looks set
upon recalling teenage striking sensation Carlos Vela from his loan at Osasuna now that work permit
restrictions have been worked out.
Some new light has been shone on Thierry Henry's exit from Arsenal and his even-more
miserable-than-usual manner for most of last season. It has emerged that the new Barcelona man has
split from his English model wife, Claire. The Sun claimed Henry said: "I didn't really want to
leave Arsenal — they're my favourite club and I loved playing for them.
How great does that sound? Of course it's about David Beckham, and it's only so the England
international can stay fit for Steve McClaren during the long winter offseason in Major League
Socccer. He's also been offered the chance to...
It's the news all of the Chelsea fans have been waiting for, stick this one down your throat
Arsenal fans. Henry is heading to Stamford Bridge! He has been out of the Premier for just a short
time but now Chelsea are going to bring him back to where he belongs. The Mirror got the scoop

Congo striker Tresor Mputu's agent claims that Arsenal have made a concrete offer for the 21
year-old TP Mazembe star.
Mputu, who has scored 34 goals in 30 league games for his team, was in London on a 10 day trial
which Arsene Wenger and Bajo Bujani, the player's agent, both considered to be successful.
If you don't care for Italian football, scroll far, far down, because there's a lot of Serie
A-based news forthcoming. AC Milan will be saying goodbye to eight players in June, according to
Gazzetta dello Sport. A couple of names we already know will be on their way out, including Paolo
Maldini, who'll [.
Today's top transfer rumors: For a long, long time Wagner Love has been tipped to join the English
Premier League and under the current circumstances it appears that he shall be another expensive
import to the English game as soon as January next year. The 23-year Brazilian striker currently
plays for Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow [.
Tottenham are set to make a cash bid for Arsenal's unsettled midfielder Lassana Diarra as soon as
the transfer window opens. (Daily Mail) ...And Spurs manager Juande Ramos is set to plunge the
future of his current crop of strikers in doubt when he bids to buy Sevilla striker Alexander
Kerzhakov. (Times) Derby's Paul Jewell is after [.
The gang at Deuce of Davenport spotted this gem. This Arsenal fan presumably got his tattoo as a
tribute to his beloved Gunners and their loyal El Capitan. Now it has taken on a whole new
meaning (or two). There was probably a few Gooners who wouldn't have minded putting a canon (or
two) to Thierry Henry's head when he announced he was heading to Barcelona.
Arsenal prodigy Carlos Vela will not return from a loan at Osasuna until next Summer, said Arsene
Wenger.
Many fans were expecting to see the 18 year-old meet up with the squad in London in January, but it
now seems that he will not even be cleared to play in England until March.
Arsene Wenger said that Arsenal scouts watch every game he plays, and that upon joining up with the
Gunners in England he will immediately be part of the first-team squad.
Arsenal fans probably hope Thierry Henry still has them in his heart, but it's Emmanuel Adebayor
who might be sitting in alone at home singing 'Wind Beneath My Wings' and tearing up his 'Manu and
Titi 06/07′ scrapbook after seeing Henry finding himself a new dance partner. It may be one still
shot, but from the [...]
And we're back. Last week we were faced with a dearth of games resulting in little movement over
the week before. This week, most teams only played once (and incidentally, most on the list won)
leading to only slight re-shuffling. Expect that to change, with a full slate of Champions League,
UEFA Cup and domestic league action in Europe this week.
Today's top transfer rumours: The biggest transfer gossip in the English press is the alleged
interest of Arsenal in AC Milan youngster Yoann Gourcuff. The Daily Telegraph has reported that
Arsene Wenger is keen on having a second bite at the French cherry after missing out on the French
starlet in 2006 when he moved to [.
Dan thinks he's spotted the change that could give Chelsea the edge over Manchester United, Arsenal
and Liverpool. What's this? A COS world exclusive? Who have Chelsea bought? Ronaldhino? Kaka? Peter
Crouch? No. Mourinho isn't about to buy anyone as far as I know. But he has announced a tactical
change that could prove crucial in [...]
David Beckham in an Arsenal shirt - who would have thought it? OK, so it might just be a training
top but the former Manchester United winger is likely to be training with the Gunners squad in
January, according to BBC reports. With the LA Galaxy currently in their close season, Beckham
needs to find [.
By 1970's Gooner Ever since we broke the story of how close Wilson Palacios is to getting a
transfer to Arsenal we have received messages and comments from Honduras itself. They are about the
player and how the fans of Olimpia, his club in Honduras, view the prospect of him playing for
Arsenal. Here are some interesting views: "Hi everybody... I am from honduras.
At last someone has posted the hilarious footage of Jens Lehmann's pre-match warm-up against
England last week. Here is Mad Jens showing the Wembley turf his best moves (for anyone who missed
it, this went out live on primetime BBC One!). [Via Bundesliga Offside]
Today's top transfer rumours revolve around Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan, Inter, Real
Madrid and the usual talent-spotting by Manchester United and Arsenal. One trick of the feet and
the entire situation alters apparently. Even on Saturday, Ronaldinho's future at FC Barcelona was
lurking in the shadows of doubt as his brother-cum-agent Roberto de Assis was constantly [.
The world of Premiership transfer gossip is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting
that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun

There's been a lot in the national press recently about how unfairly the poor old gingers are being
treated – it seems they're the last scapegoats for people to pick on in this politically correct
world we live in. Well, instead of playing knock down ginger we've put together a list of the top
ten ginger footballers who have ignored the taunts and become role models for red heads everywhere:

By 1970's Gooner After reporting that neither Wilson Palacios ‘s parents or his club, Olimpia,
could confirm his whereabouts, the Honduran Newspaper "Tiempo", has now been informed by Palacios's
father that he is alright and living in London Colney! His father, Eulogio, was relieved to hear
from him at last. His son who sounded well and lighthearted confirmed to him that he has been
having a
People please, calm down, I don't want to be an asshole here, but if you've read some of my
opinionated posts in the past, you know I'm not above it. Clint Dempsey is good. In fact, he's my
favorite current US player, but he is not in the same class of Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres, and
Cristiano Ronaldo. Not even close. Those are world class players and Dempsey is at least two levels
below that at just good.
"Yid Army! Yid Army! Yid Army!" It's become a war cry for Tottenham fans over time, rather oddly:
Spurs have had a traditionally significant support in North London's Jewish community, but it has
become an identity embraced by fans regardless of their actual Jewish heritage. And like at Ajax,
the chants have only mushroomed [...]
With Fergie refusing Liverpool's £6.8m bid for Gabriel Heinze and claiming United would 'never'
sell to their bitterest rivals, we take a look at a few transfers that have taken place between
clubs with a history of hatred. It takes rhinoceros thick skin and elephant sized balls but a few
players have endured the wrath of supporters to move onto bigger things - here's our top five:
1.

By 1970's Gooner Carlos Vela, the Mexican wonder kid who is on Arsenal's books, has scored a
fantastic goal for Spanish La Liga side Osasuna helping them win away at Real Betis 0-3. The
striker was then left out as Osasuna slumped to a 2-0 home defeat by Getafe. Maybe they should play
him more often. As you can see on the video he takes the ball from the left wide midfield position,
cuts

Arsenal came from behind twice to secure a vital point at home to Manchester United in one of the
most dramatic finishes of this Premier League season.
A Wayne Rooney goal in first half added-time (deflected in by William Gallas) gave United the lead
going into half time, but Cesc Fabregas equalized after only three minutes in the forty-eighth.
Today's transfer rumours: Barcelona According to The Sun, Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen could be set
for a return to the Premier League with West Ham, Portsmouth and Manchester City all interested in
signing the former Chelsea striker. Why he would want to leave the comfort of Barcelona's bench and
the high wages is beyond me though. Arsenal Arsenal are watching [.

According to, err, former Spurs player Les Ferdinand, "Tottenham have got the best quartet of
strikers in the Premiership at this moment in time. "The only way you can keep them happy is by
playing them. I don't think the manager has a rotational policy, he takes it game by game. If a
player is scoring then [...]
He may only be just out of his teens but Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas has already been hailed as the
best midfielder in the world. But, he's not the only young whippersnapper currently making a name
for himself in the Premier League, which is fast becoming a creche for the world's emerging
football talent. We've put together a first XI of the brightest young stars in the league – and
no Mr.
A look at the latest transfer rumours - today's teams in question are Man City, United, Chelsea,
Arsenal, Villa and Newcastle. Manchester City in for Amauri Manchester City have been linked with
the likes of Michael Owen and Nicolas Anelka to play up front in the last few weeks; this time it's
Amauri, currently playing for Palermo [...]

of October 2007. Have a look, and add your rumours to the comments section if you think he's missed

Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho, whose situation at Barcelona is being [.
This is it! The final list of the year! Obviously not that much changed since last week, with
English and Scottish Premiership squads and the odd Greek team the only ones playing competitive
games this week. There was drama galore in the EPL of course. How did that affect the rankings? Uh,
not all that much.
Arsenal have what is arguably the best midfield lineup in the Premier League (and maybe even all of
Europe).
A 20 year-old Cesc Fabregas leads a midfield which is so strong that even Brazil captain Gilberto
Silva cannot break in to the lineup this season. Alex Hleb and Mathieu Flamini have undergone
incredible changes this season to become two of the best in the Premiership and Tomas Rosicky can
be brilliant on his day.
A massive week for club soccer, with the conclusion of FIFA's Club World Cup, the end of the UEFA
Champions League group stage and the Big Four showdown in the Premiership. Read on:
1. (1) Inter Milan. The world's undisputed #1 team beat Eindhoven in a meaningless Champions
League game, then won at Cagliari yesterday.
A new day means new transfer news and rumours. Several clubs have been linked with several players
today, as detailed below. Firstly, Celtic are in the hunt for a possible replacement for their star
Japanese set piece expert Shunsuke Nakamura. He had been offered an extension to his current
contract but reports say he's looking [.
