Today Colorado announced they've signed Boulder's Shane O'Neill to a homegrown contract, making him
the second product of the Academy program after Davy Armstrong signed a contract in 2010.
Reportedly its a 3 year contract. As a homegrown player O'Neill does not count against the salary
cap. O'Neill is a MF/FW and has been training with the reserves all season.
Player Position Base Guarenteed Ababio Eddie D 44,000.00 44,000.00 Akpan Andre F 57,200.00

Colorado got its first game time in the islands today as the reserves scrimmaged against Hawaii
Pacific and won 2-1. Here's the starting XI:
Janniere - Akpan - SernaNane - Yamada - EmoryBrislen-Hall - Palguta - Ababio - LaBauexJoyce
3 subs in the game were Helmick at half for Joyce, Armstrong in for Yamada with 15 minutes to play,
and Amarikwa in for Brislin-Hall shortly after that right after Akpan scored.
So, yeah, about that whole post where I said the Rapids will be beat by Metapan and the roster
selection was not great. Well Colorado proved me an idiot with a 3-1 win last night. The reserve
squad, lead by Steve Guppy and augmented by Wells Thompson and Tyrone Marshall, pulled together in
a tough environment and dominated the scoreboard.
With the dozen midfielders currently or recently departed from the Rapids roster I've split the
review in two parts. Tonight we'll cover the more central players and save the wide players for
next time.
Davy Armstrong - There's not much that can be said about Davy yet. Signed as our first
homegrown player late in the season he didn't get any first-team time.
Last week prior to the USA vs. Brazil game four U.S. Soccer legends were inducted into the National
Soccer Hall of Fame. Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong and Tony DiCicco were honored in
a ceremony at FedEx Field. Longtime Los Angeles Times soccer writer Grahame L. Jones was also
recognized as the recipient of the 2012 Colin Jose Media Award.
Before Wednesday's USA-Brazil friendly, the National Soccer Hall of Fame officially welcomed the
class of 2012. United States NationalTeam alumni Desmond Armstrong, Tony Meola, and Claudio Reyna
were inducted alongside builder Tony DiCiccio and journalism award winner Grahame L. Jones. In at
times emotional ceremony, the inductees stressed to the audience of family, friends, and American
soccer dignitaries the kind of commitment and support it takes to have a Hall of Fame career.
Prior to Wednesday night's match between the U.S. men's national team and Brazil, a quartet of
individuals who helped build the foundation for both men's and women's soccer in this country will
receive their due.
Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong and Tony DiCicco will be inducted into the National
Hall of Fame, and longtime journalist Grahame Jones will be honored as well, at a ceremony at
FedEx Field before the friendly.
It's been 20 years since the U.S. has lost to Scotland, the team's first opponent in the "five-game
tournament" that begins May 26 at EverBank Field. In fact, it's 20 years to the day ...
On May 17, 1992 at Mile High Stadium in Denver, the U.S. fell 1-0 in front of 24,157 fans. A young
Kasey Keller minded the net that day in front of a back four that included recent National Soccer
Hall of Fame inductee Desmond Armstrong.
The United States Soccer Federation announced on Tuesday that the 2012 Hall of Fame induction will
be held before the USA - Brazil game on May 30th in Landover, MD. The 2012 induction class of
Claudio Reyna, Tony Meola, Desmond Armstrong, and Tony DiCicco will be presented to the crowd prior
to the start of the game at FedEx Field.
U.S. national team legends Claudio Reyna and Tony Meola were the easiest selections in the
latest ballot for the National Soccer Hall of Fame, and voters agreed, making them the headliners
in the Hall's Class of 2012.
Reyna received 96 percent of the voting and Meola received 90 percent of the voting to headline
a class that also includes former U.
Claudio Reyna and Tony Meola have been elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame along with
veteran inductee Desmond Armstrong and builder inductee Tony DiCicco. Reyna and Meola are both
first-ballot inductees, with Armstrong rounding out the group of three US National Soccer Team
Players to receive the highest honor in American professional soccer.
There are moments in a football life that live forever. We all have them -Micky T at Anfield,
TA6′s goal v Everton, TH14′s v MU, Dennis at Newcastle or Freddie in Cardiff. But it is the
childhoood memories which really stand out and for me they are often connected to the '70-'71
Double team. One of my favourite ever goals was scored by one of my early heroes George Graham.

Don't believe all the crap you read by Anthony Armstrong As an Arsenal fan, this week has been a
particularly depressing one. Fabregas is off to Barcelona in exchange for pocket money, Nasri is
soon to be a Manc, van Persie is about to hand in a transfer request, Chelsea want Walcott and we
are [...]
Imagine the consequences if Arsène actually did do such a thing today, no doubt the sky would
fall on his head. But that is exactly what happened to Bertie Mee the then Arsenal manager as heÂ
left a restaurant in Rome after an Inter City Fairs Cup, first leg tie against Lazio.
Why Arsenal's season Was Not A Complete Failure by Anthony Armstrong As the seasons disappointments
appear further behind in the distance, perspective of this Arsenal team changes and moulds into a
less emotional one. What is clear is that football is sometimes won and lost within the margin of
error.
Trying to look at some positives at a very negative time! by Antony Armstrong As a disappointing
season comes to a close, we come to the time of year where we look backward in order to look
forward. We had a real chance for glory this year with Carling Cup and Premier League trophies well

Last spring, Indi Armstrong Cowie performed her freestyle soccer routine for 76,000 fans during
halftime at a Chelsea-Manchester United match. This 16-year-old Scot moves the soccer ball like no
other girl on the planet.
Indie learned to walk chasing a soccer ball. At 10 she played on a coed team and once scored all
seven goals in a 7-6 win.
A heavy weight has been lifted off the shoulders of Liverpool supporters around the world today
with the news that manager Roy Hodgson has been sacked. With caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish
appointed, the Reds now go in to their FA Cup Third Round match against arch-rivals Manchester
United with a renewed sense of belief and a sliver of a hope that Dalglish, one of the greatest
players in the history of Liverpool, can rally the team to defeat United at Old Trafford.

He shoots from distance. The keeper sees it early and gets everything behind it.
Ultimately it comes down to the keeper. Number one, at the back, unique in that he and only he
has the precious gift of being able to use his hands to repel the voracious attackers. Sure there
are tactics. he's part of a team, the back four is really a back five, with him in a crucial
role.
