Rafa rages as Gerrard and Torres to miss Sunderland game

English Premier league 16 October @ 11:05 PM EST

Its is a critical week for Liverpool with games against Sunderland, Lyon and Manchester United and they will play at least the first game without stars Steven Gerrard AND Fernando Torres, who both have groin problems.

What upset Rafa the most was not only did his two best players pick up the injuries on international duty, but that they both stayed on with their respective countries, wrecking any hopes Liverpool had of treating them at Melwood and getting them fit for today's trip to Sunderland.

Know Your WCQ Opponent: Armenia

La Liga Report 10 October @ 06:03 AM EST

In the world of football Armenia is not exactly considered an awesome team with an unbelievable history. In fact you could compare them to the MLB's Kansas City Royals for you Yanks out there. Armenia's biggest career matches have been in World Cup qualifiers if you get my drift. In other words Armenia has never been good enough to make the Cup in the first place, so their World Cup history is as limited as it can get.

International Week 0-0 Excitement

Interminable, isn't it? Though it's not like our players are all sitting at home twiddling on their Wiis we've got 20 away on international duty. Am I being a cynic to suggest that the chances of all 20 of those players coming back uninjured is practically nil?

Torres Suffers Injury Scare

Anfield Talk 08 October @ 01:06 PM EST
Fernando Torres limped out of training with the Spain squad but his injury is not thought to be serious.
The Liverpool striker abandoned the training session as a precautionary measure when he pulled up with a groin problem, but was later able to exercise on his own in the gym.
Torres should be fit for Spain's World Cup qualifying double header which is good news for coach Vicente del Bosque, who is already without Valencia forward David Villa who pulled out of the squad earlier this week with a hamstring injury. Click to continue reading...

South Africa-Poland 1:0. Let The Excuses Begin...

Euro 2008 on World Cup Blog 07 June @ 10:12 AM EST

I decided to borrow the title from a's comment under the last post. You want excuses? Here's one: we always play horribly in June. Remember 2006? A major failure in the German World Cup. 2007? Hell, we even managed to lose against Armenia. 2008? Don't even remind me the Euro 2008 games. Has anyone expected a better performance this time?

Euro 2008 on World Cup Blog 14 September @ 04:40 AM EST

Iniesta the Great, Bojan debuting, Villa bagging a brace and some melodrama about substitutes as always . . oh, and Spain beat Armenia 4-0! And while it wasn't quite the 7-0 slaughter that Bosnia inflicted on Estonia, it was pretty much over by the 16th minute. Iniesta had a mesmerizing homecoming at Albacete, quickening pulses whenever he got the ball and racking up 3 gorgeous assists.
