Team Predictions: Sunderland v Arsenal

Gooner Talk 19 November @ 11:43 AM EST

Brazilian midfielder Denilson returns to the fold for Saturday's away trip to Sunderland. The 21-year-old has been missing from the squad for a couple of months with a back problem, but Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Denilson, along with Lukasz Fabianski, Carlos Vela, and Armand Traore, will return for the weekend's game. EXCLUSIVE-ISH: Silent Stan snaps up nags for RVP miracle cure

Arsenal Insider 18 November @ 07:17 AM EST

by JAMES CURTIS The news this afternoon is that Stan Kroenke has ditched plans to invest in further shares at Arsenal by the end of the month, instead choosing to wait until the new year to take his shareholding to the magic 29.99% figure.

This is because Silent Stan has plunged $1 million into a Montana ranch thought to be 10,000 acres and containing 4,000 horses, in an effort to rear as much placenta as possible after yet another Arsenal player has fallen short to an ankle injury.

‘Jump’ – I would be thinking how high! …………..

Avenell Road 18 November @ 01:34 AM EST

Well, I would be if I were one of those players having to play tonight and some nutter came sliding in towards me with a hard tackle in mind! We cannot afford any more injuries and the loss of any of the players mentioned below would be just awful. It doesn't even bare thinking about!

Even Sir Bobby Pires is concerned for us, but still believes we have enough strength and depth to get through this tough time.

Should Arsenal sell Clichy?

SoccerLens 05 November @ 08:31 AM EST

The news that Gael Clichy is out for up to two months is unfortunate and may harm Arsenal's trophy ambitions. When he first started his career at Arsenal, he was very injury prone, with continuous operations on his broken metatarsals. He always seems to get injured at an awkward time for The Gunners, and will return in the New Year.

Speaking to the club's official website, the Dutchman said:

Vela and Wilshire Shine Again… As Usual

Arsenal Station 23 September @ 08:21 AM EST

Jack Wilshere and Carlos Vela have done it again. And is anyone surprised? Wilshere controlled the match and was, by far, the best player on the pitch in last night's 2-nil victory over joint-leaders of the Championship, West Bromwich Albion, in the third round of the Carling Cup. The youngsters' Carling Cup campaign opened at the Emirates and though not sold out, there was a sizeable crowd there as always eagerly anticipating a look at the Arsenal starlets.

Attack of the 60ft Arsenal Players

LadyArse - Arsenal and the world of football from a woman's perspective @ OleOl 22 September @ 02:16 PM EST

So today, about the only news of note is the squad for the Carling Cup which is as we expected. As usual, Butternut is throwing everything out of whack, as without him the average age of the squad would be approximately 13 and three quarters, but with him in the mix he ratchets it up to 63.

Carling Cup - Chance for Silverware by March!

Gunners Today 22 September @ 01:15 PM EST
Apologies for the lateness of this post. I mean it is very late, kick off is in like 20 minutes, so I am sorry about that. Please don't hate me.
I know most Gooners don't give a damn about this cup. Until Wenger selected the superkids, we were largely indifferent. But tell me you didn't care when we finished runners up in 2007 and I'll say you are lying. Click to continue reading...

Carling Cup preview - slight returns for Arsenal

Arseblog 22 September @ 02:17 AM EST

Morning all,

it's Carling Cup time. In the last few seasons it has provided some really memorable nights as we're given a glimpse of the potential future of Arsenal. The boss has used the tournament to blood young players and for the most part they have responded admirably.

In the last four seasons we've reached the final once and the semi-final on two other occasions so rightly enough there's a certain level of expectation.

Traore Stays, Merida Goes

The Offside - Arsenal 07 August @ 08:27 AM EST

Arsenal have apparently turned down Birmingham's bid to bring in Armand Traore on loan until the end of the season. For now. According to Alex McLeish, Wenger has said he won't make a decision on Traore until the end of the transfer window in August. I have to think that this may have something to do with Nasri's injury and Rosicky's set-back, which leaves us very thin on the left wing.

Armand Traore, “I want to stay at Arsenal this season. I don’t really want to go out on loan.”

The Gunning Hawk 04 August @ 08:00 AM EST

Arsenal's Armand Traore believes he can fight for a regular place next season and prefers not to be loaned out. The Frenchman has been linked with a possible move to Birmingham City but insists he would like to stay at Arsenal.

The 19-year-old told SkySports:

I haven't heard anything about that [the rumours].

Do the Friendlies Tell Us Anything?

The Offside - Arsenal 27 July @ 05:39 PM EST

I've watched most of Arsenal's three friendlies thus far. But the question is do these friendlies give us any insight into Arsene Wenger's thinking about the squad, or which players look set to bust out? Or are these friendlies against lower opposition just an excuse for players to get some game fitness?

Arsenal’s Armand Traore Chased By Birmingham City

The Soccer Blog 12 July @ 12:45 PM EST
Arsenal's Armand Traore is a target for Premier League new boys Birmingham City, according to News of the World. The young French left-back will find first team football a struggle next season as Gael Clichy remains ahead of him in the pecking order at Emirates Stadium, and may favour a move away from the club. SenderBramble to be the next to leave/Traore to be put in the shop window/Flamini unhappy/Robin loves us!

Avenell Road 12 July @ 04:17 AM EST

In whats been a slow news week there has been a flood of stories surrounding our club over the weekend.

Big Phil, Swiss Tony or Senderlump, whatever you want to call him has now become a target for Steve Bruce's Sunderland. Senderslug has never really made the CB spot his own in his time at Arsenal and Wenger's decision to let him leave to join Milan on loan with a view to make the deal permanent, gave the impression Sir Arsene didn't really see a future for him at the Emirates.

Summer Preview: Conclusion

The Offside - Arsenal 02 June @ 11:25 PM EST

So I know the theme of the summer preview was "ten questions," but I couldn't resist coming up with an eleventh question to answer. Because we here at the Arsenal Offside, like Spinal Tap, go to 11:

This question is really the only that matters, so without further ado, we get right down to it.

Arsenal Should Recall Armand Traore From His Portsmouth Loan

EPL Talk 19 January @ 11:46 PM EST
Arsenal have a flawed squad, abundant injuries and a pint-sized transfer budget.  To compete for the top four they must supplement themselves, and apparently must do so cost-effectively.  A simple measure, and one which would cost nothing, would be to recall Armand Traoré from his loan at Portsmouth. We jumped on the bargain option very, very early - way back in September, when he was less than one percent owned.  We hope you did too.
But just as we predicted last month, the short term love affair is officially over.
Armand Traore gave us a nice run of clean sheets, a modest price increase, and a bit of attacking flair under Harry Redknapp - but with 'Arry now in London - it looks like our man Armand must turn from a blog favorite to a blog bust. Click to continue reading...
