Eddie Johnson's World Cup dreams may be over before they ever really began.
Johnson suffered what appears to be a hamstring injury in Aris Salonika's Greek play-off with
AEK Athens on Wednesday. The injury, which Johnson picked up in the 42nd minute, comes just one day
after he was announced to the 30-man U.

Since recovering from injury, both DaMarcus Beasley and Maurice Edu have yet to solidify
starting roles for Rangers, but they became the first Americans Abroad players to bring home
hardware this season, as Rangers defeated St.
From Major League Soccer Soccer dot com:
"Greek club Aris FC say they have ended their transfer pursuit of Fulham striker Eddie Johnson
after signing his former FC Dallas running mate Carlos Ruiz on Monday.
The club had been trying to land the 26-year-old US international on a permanent switch since
his loan deal with the Greek club expired last month, but the Cottagers' price tag forced them to
shop for a cheaper option.

If Landon Donovan is to silence his critics once and for all, now is the time.
After a week of adjusting to life in England and training with Everton, Donovan has a chance to
make his much-awaited Premiership debut when the Toffees visit Arsenal and Emirates Stadium this
weekend.
Greek club Aris Salonika is a step closer to playing in next season's Champions League, and the
club can thank Freddy Adu and Eddie Johnson for that.
Johnson netted both of Aris' goals in its 2-0 play-off win against Olympiakos on Wednesday,
heading home an Adu cross before capitalizing on a defensive mistake in the 90th minute.

Diego Maradona's first World Cup as a manager may have ended in a disastrous defeat, but that
hasn't stopped the Argentina Federation from offering the soccer legend an extension.
The AFA have announced its plan to try and keep Maradona on as coach, and federation president
Julio Grondona will meet with him next week to see if he sticks around for the next World Cup
cycle, which ends in 2014 in Brazil.

Landon Donovan made his home debut for Everton this weekend, and in it he helped Everton hand
Manchester City something the Citizens had not received in a month: A loss.
Donovan enjoyed his second consecutive solid outing in the Toffees' 2-0 win, constantly
threatening Manchester City's back line with his darting runs down the flank and deadly crosses,
two of which almost resulted in goals.

Landon Donovan has performed well in his first two matches with Everton, even with the
snarling English media watching his every move. But if Donovan really wants to feel pressure, he'll
have that chance this weekend as Everton plays in a win-or-you're-out scenario.
Has Freddy finally found a home? Will he blossom into the player many thought he could be?
Obviously, it's too early to tell, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
For those who need to see it to believe it:

If there is one young American Abroad player who is currently flying under the radar, that
player is midfielder Mikkel Diskerud.
Diskerud made his fifth consecutive start and eleventh overall for Stabaek in its 3-1 win
against Stromsgodset.
Ives and Goff both do an Americans Abroad every week.
I'm going to provide a slightly different look at it though.
Keepers
Dom Cervi - 0% available minutes, not on bench for Celtic in last two at minimum. ESPN lists him as
Don, and hasn't updated his gamelog in nearly a month.
Aris Salonika 2-0 Rosenborg ( Danijel Cesarec, Ricardo Faty) Greek side Aris Thessaloniki qualified
for the knockout stages of the Europa League at the expense of defending champions Atletico Madrid
as they beat Rosenborg 2-0. Both goals for Aris came in stoppage time of their respective halves.

Maurice Edu had to wait a month in between appearances for Rangers after an ankle injury
kept him out of action, but that didn't stop Edu from helping the Scottish giants continue towards
their ultimate goal of a domestic treble on Wednesday.
(With the World Cup less than four months away it is time to start thinking about the
opponents the United States will face when the tournament begins in June. While most American
soccer fans know who all of England's top players are, not as much is known about the top players
for Algeria and Slovenia.

If there was ever a game for Ricardo Clark to make his debut in, it would be this weekend's.
Clark and Eintracht Frankfurt face bottom-feeder Hertha Berlin in a match that likely has little
meaning on next season.
Aris Salonika v. Olympiakos 4/28/10 Eddie Johnson netted a pair of goals in the 2-0 win for Aris.
Freddy Adu provided the assist on Johnson's first goal. That video is worth checking out, it was a
very nice assist by Adu, and at the 2:15 mark we get a solid look at a Greek babe. On another note,
that crowd looks insane and there is no way that a couple 3rd degree burns didn't go down.

So last time we looked at Americans Abroad I focused on those guys that did not, and do not
play.
Many of the day's matches are already in the books, but plenty UEFA Europa League action still
remains to be played as the group stage continues in the European competition.
Jozy Altidore is once again getting the start for Villarreal in its home match against Club
Brugge. The late matches of the day, though, are likely the Manchester City-Juventus and Atletico
Madrid-Bayer Leverkusen clashes.
Marica Goes From Hero To Villain For Stuttgart.
The Bundesliga's Europa League contestants played out some tough fixtures in their respective
groups, with a mixed bag of results amongst the sides. The matches for the night were Dortmund away
to France's PSG, Stuttgart away to Spain's Getafe, and Bayer Leverkusen at home versus Aris
Salonika.
Sidney Sam Continues To Impress.
While these two sides are at polar opposites of the Bundesliga table, they've both managed to
qualify top of their groups for the next round of the Europa League. Stuttgart had a tough match
away to Young Boys of Switzerland, while Leverkusen travelled to Rosenborg in Norway.
Atletico Madrid 2-3 Aris Salonika ( Diego Forlan, Sergio Aguero/ Koke*2, Lazaridis ) Aris Salonika

Atletico Madrid 2-0 Deportivo La Coruna ( Sergio Aguero*2) Sergio Aguero's brace allowed Atletico
Madrid to down Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 in La Liga on Saturday, December 10, 2010. Aguero's double

Forlan.
The draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 was made this morning in Switzerland. The
biggest headline for Premier League clubs is that Arsenal will face Barcelona, which will be a
rematch of last season's Champions League quarter-final which the Spanish giants won 6-3 on
aggregate.
