Argentina and Chile both won in 2014 World Cup Qualifying in the CONMEBOL (South America)
region. Below is a recap of all the matches on June 3, 2012.
Argentina 4-0 Ecuador
Lionel Messi scored a first half goal as Argentina cruised to a comfortable victory. Sergio
Aguero, Angel Di Maria, and Gonzalo Higuain provided the other goals as the home side are now top
of the WCQ table.
Saturday saw Argentina take on Ecuador in the Estadio Monumental in a World Cup qualifier, and in
spite of a midfield supposedly lacking in creativity (yes, some people had that complaint), they
won 4-0 with goals from Sergio Agüero, Gonzalo ... Continue reading →
With the season coming to an end, it will soon be time for another double-header of World Cup
qualifiers in South America. With hosts Brazil not playing qualifiers, each South American nation
has one of these double rounds in which ... Continue reading →
As those who follow me on Twitter and/or listen to Hand Of Pod may already be aware, I interviewed
Paris Saint-Germain star and Argentina player Javier Pastore during the second half of last year.
The resulting article is published today in ... Continue reading →
In an international friendly on Wednesday afternoon (or evening, depending which continent you were
watching from), Alejandro Sabella's Argentina took on Switzerland in Berne and after a performance
that was neither stunning nor poor from the team as a whole, ... Continue reading →
In England, the Premier League had a quiet weekend for Argentine action for the most part. Last
week's Hand Of Pod introducer Alejandro Faurlín featured as usual for Queens Park Rangers in a 1-0

Deadlines for previewing the final rounds of the 2011 Torneo Apertura have severely hampered my
style this week, so without further ado here's a quick catch-up in the main leagues covered by
Argentines Abroad. In England's Premier League, Sergio Agüero ... Continue reading →
The weekend just gone saw as many crucial contributions from Argentines as ever in the world's
biggest leagues, and a welcome return to form for the usual suspects in the Mexican league after
last week's no-show. With the usual contributions ... Continue reading →
As ever, there were a number of Argentine goals during the weekend just gone in leagues across
Europe. Oddly, there were none in Mexico this weekend (for the first time since I began accepting
contributions for this post!), so Tom ... Continue reading →
Argentina's qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup hit another bump in the road on Friday

In under two hours, Argentina and Bolivia will be contesting their third 2014 World Cup qualifying

With the World Cup qualifiers approaching, it's time to take a look at how Alejandro Sabella's boys
and those he's not called up did in the weekend just gone for their clubs. Alejandro Faurlín

Argentines Abroad has been, to put it mildly, a bit out of sync so far this season. It's become
truly, monumentally bad this week and last, though, for a few reasons. For that, I apologise, but I
present here the updates ... Continue reading →
Because I've had a somewhat disjointed week of deadlines not being what they normally are,
Argentines Abroad is going up ridiculously late this week. All the same, I did receive the normal
dispatches from France, Mexico, Portugal and Spain, so here ... Continue reading →
Tuesday night saw Argentina's second qualifier for the 2014 World Cup, and an historic result in
Puerto La Cruz. In eighteen previous matches between Argentina and Venezuela, Argentina had won
every single one, but tonight Venezuela played better and got ... Continue reading →
Alejandro Sabella, after playing four friendlies of dubious importance, finally had his competitive
debut as Argentina manager on Friday evening, and it could hardly have gone better. Chile provided
tricky opposition and deserved more for their own efforts, but Sabella's ... Continue reading →
We've got a neat finish from Javier Pastore, Gonzalo Higuaín's hat trick for Madrid, some lovely
goals form Mexico and, um, a description of Jonás Gutiérrez's brilliant solo effort for Newcastle
United (thanks to the Premier League not allowing videos ... Continue reading →
I've been unable to get Argentines Abroad online so far this week, but my normal contributors have
submitted their pieces as diligently as ever, and it would be unfair not to use them. So, if you'd

In the Superclásico de las Américas, Argentina's domestic national team lost 2-0 to their

In the thirty-fifth episode of Hand Of Pod Sam, Dan, Dan and Seba begin with a discussion of just

This week's Argentines Abroad is late, thanks to the midweek round of matches here in Argentina

8-0 demolition of Osasuna, we've got videos of ... Continue reading →
The thirty-third episode of Hand Of Pod goes online just before the first leg of the double-header

It was another packed weekend in which Argentines around the world had a big say in footballing

Alejandro Sabella's first match in charge of the Argentine national team wasn't a walk in the park,

That's not the best headline I'll ever put up on HEGS, I realise, but it is a fairly accurate one,
at least. There were a fair few impressive performances by Argentina's foreign legion during the

The twenty-ninth episode of Hand Of Pod is, as the milkmaid said to the parson, quite a whopper.
That's largely because Sam, Australian Dan and Seba have not one but two rounds of Torneo Apertura
