English soccer brand Umbro has launched a line of jerseys recognizing the seven FIFA World Cup
champions to date Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy and Uruguay. Based on the
2010/12 Umbro England home shirt as a template, each shirt features a specially designed crest
inspired by the national soccer culture and accomplishments of each of [.
Once again, the calendar has rolled around to an international friendly date. As clubs pray to
whatever gods will hear them for an injury-free break, most international fans get their last
chance in 2010 to see their national sides in action, and with several regional rivals going
head-to-head, there are sure to be some interesting stories.
Ok, if every 5 years Argentina wins a match Brazil, one which is very unimportant, I am still a
happy person. Today, the Hermanos finally were able to kick some ghosts and beat Seleção 1-0 at
Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar. And Messi, was able to finally score against his
biggest rival.
Umbro has designed these shirts to celebrate the 7 countries that have taken home the World Cup.
And in an even better idea they have chosen some of the hottest soccer wives and girlfriends to
model them.
Thankfully they got Peter Crouch's fiancee Abigail Clancy to represent England.
It wasn't the most eventful weekend in world football history, or even of the month, and this is
reflected in the rankings. More specifically, it is reflected in the dormancy of this week's
rankings. The top fourteen clubs in this week's rankings are the exact same as the top fourteen
clubs in last week's rankings.

Most people know of the big guns entering the World Cup like Argentina, Brazil, England and Spain.
But what about the rest? What about the other teams that can make an impact come tournament time? I
already covered Nigeria here, let's look at some more.

Paraguay's knockout opponents will be group E runners up Japan.
THE BIG PICTURE
Japan coach Takeshi Okada was close to laughing stock status coming into World Cup 2010. Not least
because he made the seemingly insane claim that Japan would reach the semi-finals at a time when
Japan was unable to make ball meet net.
Compiling some random thoughts about World Cup 2010 as I listen to Andres Cantor's call of
Landon Donovan's goal over and over. Just sensational.
- Dunga will be validated for going with these team and this approach. Defense wins for the first
time in Brazil, which will win one for the other hand--a very Jordan-like sixth world
championship.
Actually, this really should be entitled What I got wrong because I had a lot more of those.
Three out of four might not be bad
I could conceivably still have three semi-finalists guessed right if Argentina, Brazil and Spain
all progress through their quarterfinal matches.
Another round of the World Cup completed, another butt-kicking laid out by Germany and another
move up the rankings for Bayern Munich. Okay, not a real "move-up" since it already was number one
in the Fantasy World Cup Club rankings, but it solidified that ranking by picking up more points
than any other club this week, 31.
So now we know our World Cup finalists. It's going to be Netherlands vs Spain, which means a
couple of historic things will happen. First of all, neither of these teams has ever won a World
Cup before. So the current list of seven World Cup winners will become eight. Fire up the gold star
making machine, because we're going to have a new World Cup winning nation.
Centre back: Ryan Nelsen (New Zealand)
So which of the following sides ended the World Cup unbeaten: Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Spain
and New Zealand? Were the question posed five weeks ago, the answers may have been split between
the first four. As it is, the All Whites drew with the reigning champions, acquitted themselves
terrifically and exited without defeat.
Our friends over at MLS Rumors have written a well thought out and exciting article about Miami's
past, present and future. Could MLS return to Miami someday? A must read article, check it out.
"Miami remains a city full of knowledgeable soccer fans and fútbol fanaticos. It is a
cosmopolitan, international city and thought of as a "Gateway to South America".
Predicting which of the 32 qualified teams will take home the biggest prize in football is a
tricky thing. There are always a few favorites, a number of strong teams that are always close, and
a few dark horses that make predictions even harder. Maybe there are just too many possibilities to
make a clear prediction, so let's make it a little more simple:
Which continent will produce the World Cup winner?

Seven of the most chilling GoDs in World Cup history:
1. ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, ITALY - Group C, Second Phase, 1982 World Cup
Who made it out alive? Italy defeated both the South American superpowers, in
two classic encounters (they beat Argentina 2-1 and Brazil 3-2, the latter being one of the World
Cup's greatest ever matches), to escape this particularly fatal little threesome.
The 32 teams participating in the World Cup from June 11 to July 11 will be faced with tactical
decisions about altitude as well as soccer. Matches at seven of the ten stadiums in South Africa
will be played at elevations ranging from 2,165 feet in the agricultural hub of Nelspruit to higher
than a mile in Johannesburg.

The duo do their best to analyse what went wrong for England and what the future holds for Fabio
Capello and his boys after their lame exit from the finals at the hands of Germany yesterday.
The 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals are set. The curse of European teams struggling when not
playing in their own continent seems to be holding true again. While South Americans teams are
doing well. However, there are still 3-European teams left with Germany and Spain both looking
strong.
Lahm Slams Argentina - And Saves Some For England Too.
Germany captain Philipp Lahm has added to the tension ahead of the already much-anticipated
quarter-final encounter between Germany and Argentina. Lahm, who was in the side in the 2006 World
Cup when Germany defeated Argentina on penalties, has continued the mind-games that Bastian
Schweinsteiger started.
Not so long ago you couldn't do a World Cup 2010 search on Google without stumbling on articles
about South American dominance and how all the likes of Kaka and Messi had to do was turn up and it
would only be matter of time before European teams were genuflecting before them, gasping in
amazement at yet another 70-pass move, and wanting to take them home to meet their mothers.

When Argentina is playing international basketball, it's usually Manu Ginobili playing the
starring role. With Ginobili sitting out this year's World Championships, the mantle has been
passed to Luis Scola and he hasn't disappointed. In fact, he's been the World's best player.
Against Brazil, Scola was simply awesome.

means...time for a lesson in Espanol!
This treat of an impromtu lesson comes to us from the boca of one Chilavert,
perhaps one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the sport.
Being lazy and full of things to do, I wasn't able to post about this weekend's action. So many
things happened at once, Ray Wilkins being forced out of Chelsea, Chelsea losing to Sunderland 3-0,
Manchester United scoring two late goals to equalize against Aston Villa, Real Madrid grinding out
a 1-0 win over Sporting Gijon, Barcelona and Villarreal both playing a fantastic game of football,
and of course, the Milan derby.
The long run of Argentine defeats to Brazil at full international level was finally brought to an
end on Wednesday in Qatar, and although it was an inconsequential friendly, the result sealed by a
92nd minute moment of brilliance ... Continue reading →
1. Croatia - Malta
Croatia beat Malta, no surprises there. The only reason I start with this match is its status
as a qualifier. And to talk about Niko Kranjcar. Harry Redknapp is unappreciative of the
obviously gifted Croatian and the rumors are flying that he's looking to leave.
Amid the sort-of joy and sort-of pain that comes with the wins and losses of international
friendlies (barring of course, the big rivalries that were played out on Wednesday --
Argentina/Brazil, Spain/Portugal, England/France, etc.), FIFA managed to slip in an innocuous
report on their website, complete with a link to a 23-page PDF evaluating the candidates for the
2018 and 2022 World Cup.
