'Twas Pep's last game at the Nou Camp yesterday eve before he buggers off on his Gap Year, and
the Barca fans gave him an emotional send-off during their 4-0 win over Espanyol unfurling a huuuge
banner before the game reading 'T'ESTIMEM PEP!', which loosely translates as 'WE LOVE YOU!
Lionel Messi scored all four goals in Barcelona's 4-0 win over Espanyol because, well, that's
just what he does. His fourth goal marked his 50th La Liga goal of the season and 72nd in all
competitions -- a new record, surpassing the 70 Archie Stark scored for Bethlehem Steel in
1924/25.
After putting away the penalty, Messi jogged over to outgoing manager Pep Guardiola to give him
a hug, which quickly became a team embrace.
Gary van Egmond has one Championship under his belt and looks like he has the craft to give this
years title a little shake.
As he builds his team around him it was the quality of the goals that took my eye.
Ruben Zadkovich spreading 40 yard balls, player movement off the ball and young Jacob Pepper a
local lad tapping home not once, but twice.
Fantastic the football on the weekend.
Tucked into two games. Victory and Adelaide and Brisbane v Sydney.
What treats.
Harry Kewell turned back the clock with a wonderful performance, again. If Archie or Danny could
have finished one or two of their Harry inspired chances Victory would have won.
Now Craig Foster and the like can ooze over Harry's nice touch, his nice pass - so can I - but come
on Australia - how many has there been?
Is the Emperor wearing any clothes?
We all want Harry to do Harry stuff - but Carlos is outperforming him. If you want skill, touch and
goals look to Carlos Hernandez.
Melbourne Victory's first half performance was the best they've ever played this season according
to Coach Mehmet Durakovic.
Blimey!
I know the standard has been poor this season but best they've ever played takes the biscuit.
A flukey penalty gave them a 1-0 lead after 40 seconds and then after the usual huff and bluff died
down at Aami Stadium the Gold Coast started to turn the screw.
Dem Reds were missing Marcos Flores - how could he be replaced?
Well Dario Vidosic may not be Flores, but the returning Socceroo has comeback so much more
influential than the young boy who left after season 1.
He has tricks, an aggressive eye to go forward and makes mayhem.
A welcome addition to the league.
Everton new boy George Green had a trial with Liverpool before deciding to move to Goodison Park,
it has been confirmed.
The 15-year-old had also been on the respective radars of Arsenal, Rangers, Tottenham and
Southampton, while has been likened to a young Wayne Rooney.
Liverpool, though, ran the rule over Green last year, but the midfielder was told he did not have
the physique they were looking for.

As tweeted by the man himself, here's 19-year old Poppa Jack welcoming the newest member of the
Wilshere clan into the world 7lb 11oz Archie, who was born at around 3:00pm yesterday
afternoon...
<insert obligatory 'straight into the Arsenal first-team' joke here>
